I conducted a poll and was shocked to find that the majority of people felt they needed help with some aspect of 3D printing, so I’m here to offer my insight. There are already a lot of tutorials out there, but as people are still confused, maybe my simple, step by step approach can help. I'll certainly try me best 😁

As someone who is currently waiting for my first resin printer to arrive I'm very happy to see these videos. Information about all things FEP and also possibly hollowing models would be gratefully received.

THANK YOU so much Liz. I can't believe I'd forgotten to put Hollowing on the List. It's on there now, along with Splicing which can come in handy. THIS is why I really appreciate comments 😁😁😁

Hello, all right, I'm from Brazil and I love your videos and tips, I'm very doubting regarding my first 3D resin printer, and I have in mind after many videos, Anycubic and elegoo, the doubt among brands with 4k quality, is great. Can give me a sincere opinion, I seek the maximum quality and resolution, but also the price, so the Mars 3 Pro and photo mono are in my mind, but it seems q the Saturn 2 would also be something interesting, what your tip.

I was set on buying SLA printer, but then I read that resin is dangerous for breathing and the only place I have is my small office (which is not very good ventilated) and now I'm struggling with the decision. I'm considering a grow then, but maybe there are other options?

Question, I have just ordered my first printer and I plan on using it for miniatures. If I get a file from say ArchVillian games, that is presuported, and increase the size of it say by a factor of 3, will the original supports on the file be sufficient? Thanks
@vogman
@vogman 2 года назад
The theory says yes but in practice I've found it doesn't work. When prints get large their weight makes a huge difference, really pulling on supports. Generally you're better off adding more supports to carry the weight. This certainly sounds like a worthy subject for my video series 😁

Awesome stuff! I love 3D printing but need to get off my butt and get to it all. I have a Saturn but have neglected to set it up for space and other issues. I know some people swear by IPA. Others by spirits or mean green or other materials. Also... resin. What type should I use? Does resolution matter? I've heard people note that water washable ones don't work as well. There's minor things you probably take for granted, like what tools to use on the FEP? What is the proper way to clean off a vat for a long process. Aren't there light tests to be done to ensure everything is working properly from the beginning? I've heard people talk about hollowing out their bigger minis and shining a UV light INSIDE the mini to cure it there too. Draining resin out of holes. That sort of thing. Thanks for being willing to do this!

On the verge to getting my first 3d printer. I am nervous on which one to get. Just commented on your DLP 2 video (I do not plan on waiting for an unannounced printer or I will never pull this trigger!) Right now I am down between the Mini 8k and the Saturn 2. Anyone have some advice? I am leaning Saturn 2 because it is cheaper and has the screen protector built in (in my mind - I am sure to screw the screen up - so fool proofing it is great for me). These videos cannot come out fast enough!
@vogman
@vogman 2 года назад
I have one question... how big do you want to go? If size is important, at 28 microns the S2 is very close to the Mini 8K. But if you seek the absolute best, for me it's still the Mini 8K. BUT in your hand or on a table, you'd probably never tell the difference. It's only when magnified that differences show... and even then folks will debate about resins, temperatures, angle of print, etc. In short, don't be nervous. Go with what you feel you need the most and be happy with the decision 😁

Learning the basics is good for new people, but even seasoned vets should return to step 1 and review. People learn bad habits, or maybe there are new developments they weren't aware of. Either way a constant training and retraining is required to get the most out of your printers.
@vogman
@vogman 2 года назад
I'll need help too Svaar. I know what I know, but input from other seasoned print fans will help everyone. I'd really like people to chip in with ideas and suggestions - and steer me if they think I'm wrong. Like you say, "bad habits" are easy to obtain and I don't want to pass mine on. 😁😁😁
