This looks like a great solution to the multiple print problem! My wife is the librarian at our highschool library, which means she's the 3D printer admin too. (and I'm her personal Prusa Printer tech support) Its awesome that the kids are learning 3D design for their physics, calculus, and STEM classes, but that means that multiple times each semester there is a whole class worth of parts to print... and some parts print as a catastropic failure. Since some parts fail, it means that she can't load up a whole plate of parts because the one bad one will cause the whole plate to fail, so they can only be printed individually. Honestly, she doesn't have the bandwith to babysit the printer, loading parts all day, and I wouldn't have to babysit the home printer in the evening. Setting up a batch of sequential prints would be awesome. The JobOx looks like it would be a huge-huge solution, especially with the impending end semester end projects.

I would actually suggest that a belt printer would be a better solution for this problem. They can be set up to printer sequentially without any modifications, and you just need some sort of bin at the end to catch prints that fall off.

@@cavemaneca I was over at the Hack Lab today and watched the Jobox in action. Here's the thing, there are no extra motors, servos, or other electrical gadgetry making this system work. It's entirely mechanical, and it is driven by the printer alone.

The challenges I’ve had around knocking prints off my glass beds with a pusher arm are that the retention clips sometimes snags and fall off with the print.

Good point. running my skateboard lights today. hopefully I'll have more info for all of us.

I just don't see 3D printing being reliable enough at the moment for this solution. But just my opinion.

And when will there be an automated enclosure mod that is lifted up when changing out beds so anything more finicky than pla can be reliably printed?

Keep your area around space at right temp , no fans, I use an oil space heater to keep the zone in spec

Did you do any accuracy tests for plate positioning and alignment?

What software is needed to load the sheets and continue the prints? is it all in the Gcode?
@hacklabdesign
@hacklabdesign Год назад
Simon. Custom Web Software. So let's say you have 3 different objects to print, you combine all 3 sets of GCode with a custom web app. jobox.app/
@andreme9271
@andreme9271 Год назад
The "web-app" is JavaScript based and all the processing happens locally. So the GCODE date is not leaving your computer. The app can also be downloaded and used locally without internet connection. There is also an option to use your preferable server software like Octoprint or Repetier-Host.

When the flipper lifts up the sheet to remove it from the bed, isn't there a chance of the print popping of the sheet when it flex and being left behind? - some of my prints are stuck like glue but some just release under cooling, you can then just lift them off with no need to flex (depending on what material I use).
@hacklabdesign

Let's try, but sure theres a chance Simon.
@andreme9271
@andreme9271 Год назад
That's true, some parts (especially PLA) indeed popping of the sheet when it bends. It's not impossible that some parts would fall and left behind. I haven't experianced it yet (I'm a co-developer) , but I think it depends on the geometry. In this case the colision detection of MK3s will most likely abbort the printing process.

What’s the total cost of this automated machine? Thanks

Guess that depends on what you purchase
