In this video I discuss the various options around how to process transparent resin, after the print, to ensure it stays as transparent as possible.
I then discuss the use of Resin Pigments to add colour during the printing process.
I then apply colour to the transparent pieces testing Ink vs Pigment, & also Water vs IPA (as a mixing solution).
After applying clear coat to half of the models. I then compare the outcome and pick my favourite.
Conclusion:
If you want just one colour transparent resin: Buy in that colour
If you want to create a transition of one colour to another: Buy clear resin and add resin pigments during the print
If you want to print in multiple colours: Buy clear resin, resin pigments and additional vats. Create your own!
However, if you want to create cool effects with multiple colours, the best I have found so far has been Inks mixed with IPA, applied in one step. The process is then repeated and clear coat applied at the end.
I hope this is of use to someone :)
