@@fade2black001 I have so much nostalgia for the 3DO. It's my all time favorite console.. and it kills me it never got MK2 back when it came out. So ... here we are, 30 years late.
@3dohd does Panasonic model 1 have a sd card option like other systems, be cool play this and ssf2t on system (as long options have 3 and 6 button modes)
What a time to alive! We can capture rockets coming back from space, electric cars is a reality and the 3DO could possibly have the best port of Mortal Kombat II!!
Arcade Perfect Graphics. Wow I was a Sega kid, but I'm a big advocate for console wars and gamer choice which we don't have today. You basically have Xbox or Playstation. This really shows what the 3DO could do and that it could compete against Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn. Stunning. Looks better than Playstation and Sega Saturn Ports combined. 3DOHD you have to do a mortal kombat 2 Re-Port of the Sega32X. We never got the arcade perfect port on Sega32X we should have got. I bet this guy could make that happen.
@@djurkinthebox So the picture is of Trip, but the voice isnt his. Its still Corny AF especially if you dont know who that guy was and why they put him in the game in the first place.
Its all coming together, looks great! Love the 3DO exclusive touches like stages, fatalities, and toasty Trip! Cant wait to load her in my ODE and fire this up on my rgb 36" crt!
1:16 “Round 1… FFFFFIGHT!! So far this game development is so awesome!!! You got even the memorable soundtrack from the actual Arcade port (not the cd soundtrack, the Arcade one which sounds a Little bit different). And the graphics in this game are so incredible. Even the Kombat Tomb stage is quite impressive. I must say is an excellent job so far…. Let the Kombat Kontinues…. Mortal Kombat ll 3DO is a Flawless Victory 😎😎
Glad you noticed. Yeah the soundtrack was honestly a pain... Different intro+ loop, round 1 is usually different than 2 and 3... Plus an end track, plus the finish loop...
Damn! That Shang tsung transformation is fast and super clean! Everything looks fantastic! Great job! Blowing my mind! keep it up! Any other ports to the 3do after this one? Big fan of 3do and your work!
I was so waiting for Johnny Cage to slide down and fall off of the spikes, in the Tomb fatally. I'm so used to hitting down, right at performing that one.
Not going to lie this game was my dream on the 3do .... I got stuck with Way of the Warrior and Samurai Showdown ... Street Fighter one was dope too.... thisnwould have changed the outcome of this system big time
Fantastic work! I love it! Just looking at it makes me want to have it... The changes made in this edition give it a unique touch of freshness that makes this version something really special. I look forward to playing it when it comes out... and congratulations to its programmers! This is simply pure art. ❤🔥🙏
This is unbelievably beautiful! I'm so proud I've kept up with this project, I hope once it's released you'll end up making physical disc's for it because man I need one and would love nothing more than to play it. This game always brings back such great memories.
This keeps looking better and better. Really like that you can see outside through the grates on the dead pool stage now. That detail (and the paralax) adds a lot of depth to the background. I guess the only thing that stood out to me as needing some work is the camera. Not sure if you've spent much time on it or if it's still on your to-do list, it just seems like the camera should be moving to try to keep the fighters centered. Hopefully this is planned for down the road. Keep up the awesome work! 👍
@@3dohd You know, that got me curious, so I looked up some footage of the arcade version. It works the way you've done it. My bad! I guess the only difference is in your version the characters seem to be able to get a lot closer to the edge without it scrolling (or maybe it doesn't always scroll when they get knocked to the edge?). Still, with some minor refinement I'm sure you'll be able to get it working like the arcade version. It's already looking fantastic though. Looking forward to the next video!
Aside from slowdown from the clouds of the first stage and the work in progress with hit detection, this is really impressive work. If Midway and Acclaim would of released this as a port back in the day, the 3D0 could of turned a lot of heads.
This is a very admirable effort! Some constructive criticism: it seems like Reptile’s ball projectile and resulting opponent movement is too slow. Additionally, there are times when the character is halfway off the screen at the edges. Otherwise it looks solid and sounds even better!
Fantastic progress dude! Love the ST morph frames :-) Do you have any idea what sort of performance it's going to be like to morph into other characters not already loaded into RAM at the start of the round? The only thing that really stood out for me is the general physics; the walking, jumps, and combos don't seem like the arcade; they are a bit floaty. But I'm sure you have that in your future gameplay tuning.
Note that the blood now "recognizes" the stage, in dead pool the blood did not fall in the back part (acid) but in the other stages, yes, it falls further back giving the sensation of depth, if this is really the case, That detail is great!
Lower the names a little down Liu Kang’s voice sounds low Hit detection is a little off Overall awesome work Looks so beautiful Better than PS1, PS2, PS3, Saturn, and other versions. Thank you 😊
The game looks astonishing. Could you imagine this getting released thirty years ago for the 3DO? The system might have lasted long enough to challenge the Playstation. Also, I take it that was you as the toasty guy, instead of Dan Forden?
Congratulations, it's excellent. Can I make a suggestion? If you add Noob Saibot, Jade and Smoke, could you give them the Mortal Kombat Trilogy moves? And if they could be selected with some secret code it would be even better.
Is that Trip Hawkings? Nice! You re making this version look something unique, not just a port, congrats. Do you plan to include playable jade, smoke, noob, kintaro and shao khan?
The corner carry, some hit stuns , timing after falling to ground and recover and throws seems different sometimes-- slowed or fastened. I think youre taking care of this, but if u dont, maybe it is a good thing to check to assure a more balance in moves.
beautiful work. Some questions regarding coding. What language is this in? C? Is there a modern 3do framework available that you’re working in? It seems like you have the engine fully in place now and your refining gameplay. Is there anything that you are struggling to acheive now or are you mostly just in the fine tuning stage. Finally, i noticed that load times are great and there are no loading lag issues for sound effects such as are in the ps1 version. How is this possible? Did 3do have significantly more ram than ps1?
Yes - Coding is done in C. My dev environment is notepad++, a norcroft C compiler, and an emulator with kprintf. 80% of the development process has been optimizing memory and performance. All file loading is done by combining into single large files so the CD can read / load once... then parse in ram, rather than read a hundred little files off disc which is much slower. If you're interested in getting into 3DO dev check out 3dodev.com
Evert time you release a video, it makes me wanna get a 3DO, how are you handling Shang Tsung? only able to mirror the other play, presumably from memory limits and disk loading
Currently it's only instant-transform into the opponent... But I have tested transforming into any fighter. As it needs to unload / reload new assets there is a brief pause.
Hard to explain but I did notice when hit with the reptile slide or jump kick just to name a few the opponent falls back higher than the arcade version. Also the uppercut sends the opponent a bit too high and too far. Also noticed king Lao’s glide kick covers too much ground. The throw is a little weaker than the arcade. Not trying to bash on this game, it looks amazing, just not there on the gameplay.
So I know Shang Tsung can kill resources. Have you thought about limiting who Shang Tsung can morph into? Like he can be himself or be the player to save on resources. I saw that option on an MK2 hack for the PlayStation and that might be reasonable if you're worried about performance.
