In this video, I will present you with a new plugin I created for 3DS Max that allows the user to create multiple 2D sections on the 3 axes. The script has many options to control this operation, like the number of sections, the spacing between sections, offsetting the start of the operation, flipping the axis so that, for example, if you choose the Z axis, flipping means the creation of the sections will begin from top to bottom, also you have the option to Weld the vertices. The script offers other parameters that allow the user to just specify the spacing and let the script calculate the number of sections, or to specify the count, and let the script figure out the spacing. The script has a button to delete all sections created by the script, and a button to select all sections created by the script.

If you have any suggestions, requests, you can leave them in the comments area. Also, you may consider supportting the channel further by using the Thanks button under the video. At minute 1:10 i wanted to say: from front to back

Can you use this as splines. ? as in contour tool of Rhino ?

Hi, this is exactly what i had in mind when creating this plugin. I use Rhino also, and i wanted to have something similar.

I will donate to this plug in for sure, just tell me if there is any development on it in the future? I just tested it out and it works great,i can make exact contours of any shape. But little work around to conver it to editable spline and cleaning it up. Do you think you can make that function to convert it to editable spline ?

Actually the result is an editable spline. Like i mentioned in the video, using Weld, will make the splines closed so you can extrude them or convert them to editable poly. But of course, like i also mentioned in the video, it depends on the 3D geometry that the script is working on. And, again, be careful when using the Weld feature if you have a huge amount of vertices. I suggest you watch the whole video in case you didn't, i tried to make everything clear. And thanks again for downloading and trying the script.

If you have a good work around it would help to make a post

there is no way to convert it to editable poly after ... I guess if you place an edit poly modifier and then create a detach copy it will be possible

If you watch the video you can see that if you check the Weld option, before pressing the create sections, it will weld the vertices so that you can use the extrude modifier, or add an edit poly modifier. But, as i mentioned in the video, the weld feature, in case you have a huge amount of vertices, might take too long, so i prefer if you save your file first. You can press the Escape button repeatedly to stop the operation. Generally, i prefer if you use it when you don't have a very big amount of vertices.
