Congrats man! Yea, usually the first mods are cold air or short ram intake, exhaust and headers. On the exterior dropping it a few inches always gives you a better look. New wheels and head and tail lights. Those are a few things you can do. It's really only a matter of how much you wanna spend on it or how far you wanna take it. Most importantly keep up with your basic maintainances like oil changes.

Thank you. The spoiler idea came at the beginning of the project. It had to come down because the person that did my body work initially installed it backwards lol. When it came off I like the car better without it. They still installed it the right way but I ended up taking it off myself. After it was off I decided to go all the way and finish it up with a carbon fiber hatch. It ended up working out in my opinion. Thanks for your comment and for checking it out.

@zingz1000 The wheels are 20". You gotta go 30 series with the tires, the 35 series will rub. Tire will look thin but will fit and you can even lower it with no problems (I got 2 inch drop). The noise that you hear @ 2:01 is the cold air intake and it makes it every time I shut off the car. I like the sound of it.

Also, most important thing before any upgrades make sure your car is mechanically running fine and maintenance is up to date (oil, plugs, no leaks, o2 sensors, hoses, flushes, no issues or cel) otherwise it will cost more in the long run. These are american racing casino wheels. 20"x7.5", 5x114.3. I got them here locally at a discount tire. The tires are 225 30 20. I recommend if you're gonna do wheels that you do it locally. I had so many problems with online stores. One of them still hadn't shipped my order after 3 months of paying for them so you can imagine. Then they exchanged them but didn't fit after they guaranteed they would. With the hassle and time you end up spending the same. Good luck! Keep me updated!

Yes for first performance upgrades you're on the right path. The only thing that you should not do is ecu chip. They do not work on this car, the computer will not respond to a chip. The only thing that works is flashing the ecu which can get you some decent gains. If you do flash your ecu please be sure that you have someone very experienced do it. I also recommend doing intake, headers, exhaust at the same time. You will be happier. I'm happy to help with any questions you might have.

Thanks man. Yea it's really a matter or personal preference. Some people might say that spoiler is too big and the only spoiler that looks good on this car is the stock one. Also some people have said that the stock look is the best one on this car and not to waste money on a body kit but I also disagree. I've always liked the black on black too. The trick is to do it the way you're happy with and not let anyone build your car for you.

Also stay away from shorties, they do nothing for you. If you want real power long tubes are the way to go. However, if you're going to turbo you're gonna need shorties or stock (recomment without cats, they weigh too much and restrict airflow). If you're supercharging long tubes are ok. I'd recommend doing everything all at once if you can financially, you will be much happier. Also depending on your state it is possible to pass emissions without cats. I did last year. Just gotta be sure all o2 sensors are hooked up and in good working condition.

Yea kinda does. Car looks different from this video since I took the wing off and both hood and hatch are carbon fiber now. Having a stroker kit and a supercharger installed as of last week. When it's done it will definately be faster than a celica. Thanks for checking my video out.

Sorry for the delay I haven't been on. Just checked it out and I really liked it. Nice sound too.

I drive an 1997 Eagle Talon TSi (fully loaded, stock), 1999 Dakota R/T (leather power seat swap, intake, redone stereo), and 2005 Yamaha R6 (heavily modded). There's no way to turn this around and make me or any other DSMer into the dummy. 2G Eclipses and Talons are commonly lumped into the DSM group since the 1995 2G's were still produced under DSM. Every Eclipse after the 2G's were more and more watered down. If you ditched the wing and put a few resonators on your car then it'd sound good.

I can appreciate this comment. This person does not like my exhaust set up and that's ok. Not everyone has the same taste and likes. @wickedonemd Thanks! The tires are 225/30. The 35's would rub on the body kit. The ride is not that great but no problems so far, just gotta drive careful. Yea with the dual you would lose rather than gain anything but I did it to complement the body kit more than anything. I won't be racing professionally and 3g's are slow to begin with. My tip to you is do what you want to your car. What you gain with a name brand catback is very minimal anyways. Thanks for the comments!

I have not tried the 1/4 mile yet. Car is still in rebuild mode. I'm currently having a full port and polish job on the tb, manifolds and heads and swapping the cams for more aggressive ones. The car no longer has that spoiler. This is a very old video. Check out the newest video. I took the spoiler off and swapped the hatch and hood for cf one. But you're right I do agree with your comments about the spoiler. As far as the bumper it was a matter of what I liked and not worried about extra lbs.

I would too. Out of the 3 cars there is absolutely no other choice but the eclipse. I'm not only saying that because I own one. but like you said the celica and tiburon don't get much hp and lets be honest the eclipse is the one that looks the best. Whether you're looking to do performance upgrades or visual upgrades the eclipse will turn out better and probabably has more upgrade options.

Cold air intake would be either aem, injen or k&n. Don't bother with any other brands those are really the best ones and stay away from ebay ones. Headers you wanna go with ripp, hytechs or rpw which are all long tubes. Don't bother with megan, obx, or any other off brand if you're looking for performance. Ripp are no longer manufactured so you have to get used, hytechs are very expensive but will get you more hp, rpw are made in australia so you will wait a bit for those.

The wheels are called Casino and are made by american racing. Size is 20" and width is 7.5". I really don't remember the price since I bought them around 2 years ago.

@imickey24 Thank you. I will check yours out in a bit. The exhaust is custom made with 2 megan racing n1 mufflers. No company makes dual exhausts for the 3g's so you have to fabricate one.

You can't chip these cars. The ecu will just revert it to factory settings. The only thing that works is flashing the ecu and I already did that. But that's after this video was made. Thanks for looking!

@titanballer30 Thanks for the good comments on the car. I still have more plans as far as body work and taking the spoiler off might be in the plans. I had the spoiler off the car for a few days and liked the way it looked and handled.

I just bought to mufflers and had a muffler shop fabricate and dual exhaust with the mufflers. Any muffler shop should be capable of making one for you. Just gotta know what size you want your piping to be. Mufflers were around $100 a piece and exhaust was around $200 for parts and labor, can't remember the actual price since it was a while back.

My body kit is a combination of 2 body kits. The front and rear bumpers are the invader 2. The side skirts are from the bomex body kit. I couldn't use the side skirts from the invader 2 because in order to use them you have to go wide body which is another world. Hope that helps you and let me know if you have any other questions.

i love everything about this car except the spoiler, i like spoilers just not tall ones....i own a 3g myself but i just put the stock style and painted it black on my charcoal gray colored Eclipse....overall, i love this car....good job friend!

Ksport springs only at the moment. I believe they are supposed to give you a 2" drop in front and 1.9" in back. I really like the way it feels lowered. My bumper doesn't like it as much as me though.

Spoiler I got online, can't remember exact website. It is a Megan Racing carbon fiber md-62 drift style wing. You should be able to find it by doing a google search. I hope this helps.

Haha I know. When I first started building the car I had an idea of what I wanted and I really wanted a big spoiler on it. I wasn't trying to go race professionally or anything like that lol. The spoiler as of today is gone and was replaced by a carbon fiber hatch with no spoiler.

@heyitsthatcooolguy Hey, thanks for the comment. The 3g's are not considered DSM as they were made in the state of Illinois. Knowing that already I still decided to do my plate that way just to be unique and thought it would look good and go with the set up. I get a lot of crap from a lot of people that think that I am not aware of what I explained above. Your good comments about the car are appreciated.

Let me clarify a few things here. I never called anyone a dummy. You came into my page and called me one. Second, I happen to like the earlier models especially the 1st gen. Not crazy about the 4g. I know the plate is incorrect but I still wanted it that way for MY OWN satisfaction. This video is over a year old. Car is totally different now. Wing and plate gone. CF hood and hatch on now. Will be supercharging soon, already got ripp kit ready to go on. Check out the newer vid if you haven't.

@jgmtiger Thanks! That's what I like the most about the whole set up, when it starts up it sounds mean. Also when you rev on park it sounds real loud and bad. The video doesn't even come close to showing the real sound because it was taped on a phone so the sound quality is crappy. Thanks again for the comment.

The dual exhaust is really not worth getting (I did for looks only) I would stick to single and the piping diameter will depend on your goals. If you're not going to super/turbo charge 2.5" will do just fine any bigger you'll lose but if you are I'd go 2.75" or 3". On the exhaust it's ok to buy a cheap ebay brand for $150 rather than $600 (unlike the headers). Best thing to do is intake, headers without cats, exhaust at the same time to allow better air flow.

Yea the wheels have been good. I haven't had any problems and I do like the way they look with the car. Be sure you get a 5x114.3 bolt pattern and no wider than 8in to avoid fitment issues otherwise you should be ok. Hope this helps you.

Yep, I agree. I did it strickly for looks though. Not looking to go over 100mph especially on local street/highways. Only tracks away from public should be the only place to go over 100mph.

I think the stock spoiler is what makes the 3g appear girly to other people,but this right here is far from girly and i think im going to use the black on black color scheme on mine. If i purchase an eclipse.

Spoiler cost me around $450 back then because it was full carbon fiber. I didn't research aluminum when I was looking for a spoiler so I really don't know. Sorry I can help you there.

Oh ok haven't heard of those. You can do that when you flash the ecu. The guy that did my tune modified it then i did a few runs and he would adjust af ratio and other things accordingly.

Sometimes It's bouncy and stiff, but I happen to like that kind of feel. I guess is about personal preference. IMO the only reason to dish out 1k for coilover is if you wanna be able to adjust your height and if you believe your oem shocks/struts are too old and too worn out. The aftermarket springs will probably put a little more stress on the oem parts. I haven't had any trouble with mine so far and I love it and $99 beats $1k-$2k depending on which brand you go with.

The car is beautiful but that spoiler doesn't do anything. It increases downforce on the rear wheels but it's FWD so it increases traction on tires with no power to them. Still a nice asthetic addition. I'm not talking trash by the way, sorry if I came off that way. I love 3Gs and get technical with them alot xD

Major problems? None that I know. I have had my 3g for about 5 years and haven't had any major breakdowns. It's like any other car, be sure to keep up with your routine maintenance and prevent major problems. Another advice if you're going to upgrade something be sure you do it right and not cut corners to save money. You will end up paying for it double or triple later when you repair it. Honestly these cars are slow unless you drop some money on forced induction. They're not like the 1g or 2g.

@darknessat1134 Not really, mine does only on steep driveways so I have learned to always back in or back up first but that's probably mine is lowered 2" on top of the long front bumper. You eventually get used to it and adjust your driving to not scrape as much.

Exactly, I was also looking at the Toyota Celica GT and I really liked the look of the car, But when I saw the HP...... I'm like "are you serious..?" and I looked at the 2003 Tiburon and it has a weight issue. So I'm sticking with the Eclipse idea. Lol.

Thanks man. My choice of exhaust was borla too for that same reason. The only reason I had the dual exhaust made was because the body kit was made for a dual exhaust and it wouldn't have looked right. I would recommend going with something different than megan for your headers though. If you're looking for bigger gains you might want to go either ripp, hytech or rpw. They are all long tubes and will give you better sound and hp gains than megan. Also do you have an intake? Would increase sound.
