My Great Grandfather, Grandfather are from Harrington and Crowdy Heads and my father was born there in 1925.
My brothers used to holiday there every school holiday in the '60s and my brother and I travelled there in 2019, and nothing has really changed.
Harrington has old world charm.
The fishing is the lifeblood of Harrington and Crowdy, both out to sea and on the legendary Harrington break wall and gantry. Black Bream, Flathead, Mullet, Whiting, Garfish.
This is a family destination, with soooo much to do with your family, you really won't have enough hours in the day.
Get up early and go down for a pre breakfast swim, fish after breaky, clean the fish and have them for lunch, walk the break wall, walk the sandbar in the Manning River walk over the break wall and walk the beach for 5km to Crowdy Heads, take in the scenery from the Crowdy Lighthouse.
Good wholesome family fun.
Stay in the caravan park where we did at Discovery Parks. Very clean and affordable.
When my brother and I were there, it was right in the middle of the worst bushfires New South Wales has ever seen.
I've tried to capture the true essence of Harrington, and you will have to squint through the smoke, but I will be back and I will refilm this tranquil, scenic location.
