The best protection I have found for my cars that are wrapped is Optimum Opti-Coat Pro. Makes the wrap much easier to clean( matte in particular) and protects it agianst UV and chemicals.
Great video !. Bird poop is the worse and if you don't clean it right away can damage the vinyl or stain it, specially in summer time, from my experience I had to use black magic wax to cover the stains that I couldn't remove with alcohol . My recommendation to who ever wants to wrap a car is to keep the car indoors or garage, I used Avery 900 series a year ago for a costumer, his car was always outdoors he said, N.Y.'s weather is drastic so the vinyl faded, in just one year. I wash my car with a power wash machine and dry it by hand and then I use black magic liquid wax but I apply it to a microfiber rag, so the whole intention is just to protect the vinyl with a thin layer of wax, not recommendable in summer time (it might leave stains)
You mentioned on wraps one can use the Marquise's quik wax, but directly on the back label, it suggests NOT to use on matte or satin wraps... I have a black satin wrap and am still unsure of what type of car wrap is safe. Can you recommend a wax that doesn't say NOT allowed on wraps... Thx
hi mate..i just did a wrap for my car its 3M matte red metallic ..its still in in workshop cant wait to get my car soon...by the way what is the best way to protect my wrap? and shud i apply wax or polish after the installation?
I have two very small chips on my hood in the matte wrap on my Tesla. How should I repair them? I was thinking of putting very small drops of plasti dip to seal it and preventing it from spreading. Thoughts?
Hi There, I've had the roof of my car wrapped in a gloss black 3M vinyl wrap and noticed that some lines (look like thin scratch marks) from the installation process. Is there a way to remove the marks? i.e Polish or wax? My white paint is in great shape and would like to make sure the gloss black wrap pops and shines with minimal imperfections. Thank you, and great video! Nelio
Hi, My car is full matte black and I use another product to just put a protective coating on the car, But as for washing the car I have just been using water, I noticed you said to use NXT gen carwash? I just want to make sure that using this will not cause my matte black to have a gloss or damage the wrap in anyway.
I have a camaro with flat matte hood wrap but the hood got some stubborn water spots ,can I use the meguiars natural shine wipes on the hood to hide the spots, I understand that it will make it more shiny and I'm ok with that, my concern is would the meguiars wipes hurt the wrap ?
When it comes to applying wraps is there a "dye lot" or batch difference in color? If I needed to replace a panel later would the color of the replacement vinyl be noticeably different?
I have a car wrapped recently in 3m satin pearl white. I cleaned off day old bird droppings and noticed a slight discolouration (Orange/pink). How can I clean it off?
Hi I recently got my car wrapped by my friend I got 3m Matte dark Gray, he said for the first 3 months I should wash the dirty spots with a spray bottle 50% water an 50% alcohol. Spray the car and then remove the liquid with a micro fiber cloth. Would you recommend this?
I had my car wrapped matte white about 3 months ago. I have some slight dark discoloration from daily use below the doors along the bottom of the car. Do you have any tips??? I love the look of the matte white, but am afraid I will never be able to get it fully clean.
NEED HELP! i got 3m satin white pearl vinyl on my car and its getting stains so easily and i cant get rid of them.. the main stain is removed but it leaves behind the sillhouette / dull image of the stain.. i have them all over the place.. how can i get rid of them? its like a bunch of faded out dark spots all over..
My hood and trunk are wrapped in matte black, whenever I apply water on it, I can see water spots/ streaks all over them, and they tend to disappear when it's dry. Can I do something about this?
Have anyone ever tried inventing a multi-layer car wrap? One that has different colors underneath and a customer can just easily peel away the top layer to reveal a different color of their choice that they ordered for the multi-layer wrap? Would be a great idea. Imagine. You get to changed the color of your car in minutes if you want a change in color without having to apply a new vinyl wrap with a new color every time. Thumbs up so 3M can see this and try to make this idea a reality.
I cleaned my hood that has black vinyl on it and something scrapped across it and now it won't come off. Is there anything I can use to fix this? Some kind of cleaner.
Hello. Can you recommend me a product to clean and buff my 3M clear wrap? My entire car is wrapped with clear 3M to protect from rock chips ect. I need to know how to polish it up.
Has anybody tried taking a vinyl trim restoring product to it?? If so were you happy with the results or if no, why is that maybe not a good idea to try?
Hello, I looked in several places about exposure to the sun during a spring/summer day and cannot find specifics..how long exactly IS prolonged exposure to the sun? At my University, I park wherever there is an available spot, which is sometimes right under the sun, and the car can remain there for the start of mid-day to sun-down... Would doing that 4x a week be considered high exposure?
Hi you say use meguiars gold class premium liquid wax as per manufacturer... when I checked the instructions on the bottle says keep off vinyl what are you comments on this.. I went and purchased this specially after watching your video please advise
It's been 3 years since I wrapped my car in satin black and now the roof and the trunk is kind of fading or it seems like stains. Any trick that you might have to rejuvenate, restore that type of vinyl? Thanks!
OK, question. I'm planning on wrapping my car matte black, right now it's gloss black. When we arrive to car shows we usually clean it down with meguiars ultimate quick detailer to make sure it's show ready. Would I still use that on a matte black wrap? Is there another option to spot clean at car shows?
How would you get off a petrol stain? I have tried letting simple green sit for 5 minutes and 70%isopropyl to wipe off but no luck. I have a matte wrap and I wiped it off immediately but it seems to stained instantaneously...
Any body ever have over spray in the surface of matte black before? The over spray I have is from a body shop repair on a fender, and the auto paint is on the hood surface which is covered by the matte black. Is it ruined and need to be replaced?
To follow up; I took your instruction and applied damp heat. I found the area small and not real thick with clear waterborne paint. Used the Florida sun to get the matte black wrap material hot. Soaked a clean lint free towel with water alcohol solution and laid the towel over the paint. I have been trying goo gone adhesive remover, recently so after about five min. sun vs. wet towel I prep another rag with very small amount of adhesive remover and wiped it across the paint. With a spray bottle of water alcohol instantly sprayed the wiped area neutralizing the remover. Repeat one more time and paint was gone. And no blemish to the wrap. Car was delivered customer was happy and the body shop was too. I'm not saying it was prefect, but what was once matte blk (new) gloss blk (paint overspray) and back to matte blk. Just some of the things a tech needs to know on the fly. Still it all started with your tips. Thanks.
I applied wax to my matte black wraps on my Dodge Challenger and it turned them into a shiny surface. My car has a black shine to it and you can barely see the matte black wraps now. Is there anyway that I can take the wax off the matte black wraps to give it a matte finish once again?
thanks so much for the reply! I want to get into vinyl wrapping cars but just don't know if that is a good career to pursue as I want to eventually own my own shop. Any tips or Advice for me? *****
I liked the video until you mentioned meguiars. I have spent 20 years building show cars and trying many brands of car cleaner. Meguiars is at the bottom of that list. Far from a quality cleaner. Other than that, a good video.
