These videos are classic. Seeing the Q-Types in action back in these days is spectacular.

They look a lot better with the clerestory as built before the roofs were lowered when they went back to the BMT in 1958.

Q cars would sometimes be used in local-express service. There's evidence of this in another Arcara video.

It’s a shame that the full length of the 3rd avenue el was torn down between the Bronx and Manhattan. It would have definitely help alleviate the big crowds on the Lexington Ave line b4 the first phase of the Second Ave subway was finally built and opened in 2017. I doubt if a full length Second Ave subway will ever be built.

Exactly 💯,% right. South Bronx definitely needs to come back real badly it's dead over there. No more 3rd Avenue Elevated line and they have buses running over there and crowded as hell. It's not the bus operators fault they doing the best they could. They definitely need to take some cars and trucks of the road. It's to much.

@@leecornwell5632 I couldn't agree more. Only thing, to get most of the cars and trucks off the roads would be difficult to do. Most deliveries are made by trucks for many businesses. As for the cars, most folks don't want to ride public transportation bc of the pandemic that's still with us.

@@tombarzey7964 South Bronx is definitely suffering without the,3rd Avenue Elevated line . It's completely dead over here with out the 3rd Avenue Elevated line. Cars and trucks are definitely need it fine. The south Bronx Subway is needed to get people to work and homes and clinics schools .

Only thing really still recognizable btwn the Canal St and Chatham Sq stations today are the fmr Manhattan Savings Bank bldg (HSBC bank as of 2023), the entrance to Manhattan Bridge, the taller bldg on that small almost-triangular shaped island-block at Chatham Sq from all these 3rd Ave El footages I've seen thus far here in RU-vid - one of these have a great momentary glimpse down Mott St - and some really close look inside the trains themselves... and passengers... station infrastructure: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8uPsiOAVvc4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XEG4re43ub8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rUu2FkN0Sko.html

Exactly 💯% right on that. The 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line could definitely be used again and you Anint lying about that. South Bronx is definitely needed to help out the 2 5 4 6 lines and the bus operators out . The 2 5 trains is way over Crowding and the BX 15 41 buses.
