Hi Amber, I hope you’re doing well… due to many personal reasons, I’ve unfortunately been going through distress, guilt, depression and even shame lately, even sometimes to the point of getting suicidal thoughts… so I would appreciate if you keep me in your prayers… thank you and god bless you Amber 🙏🏽 wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy new year! ❤️
Hi. Remember you're not alone. I'm dealing with depression too and I know how hard it can get. Focus on small goals when you're feeling overwhelmed, be kind with yourself and when it gets tough, tell yourself that whatever tomorrow will bring you, you will never have to live today again. You will get better. Also, remember that just as you wouldn't expect anyone to run a marathon on a broken leg, you can't expect to do everything perfectly with a wounded mind. Healing takes time and even when you're not in the situation that hurt you before, it's okay to still feel that pain. I will pray for you, but remember God loves you just as much in your best and your worsts days. And if He loves you, who can say that He's wrong?
Veiling is one of the most beautiful and reverent things about our Mass. I remember when ladies wore head dress in church, and I'm so happy that the custom is coming back around.
I suspect the "hair is a distraction to men" thing is a borrowing from Islam, because I have heard that as something Iranian women have been told about why they must wear a hijab. It's not something from our faith, but it's probably something women have heard in the media. Anyway, thanks for this podcast - I'm a recent revert to the church and definitely have felt a pull to wear a veil at Mass (and that started even a couple years before I actually did return to the church, lol...) So far I've only done it when attending at the cathedral downtown (and there's 3-4 other ladies who do that at the weekday noon liturgy so I feel comfortable doing so), not at my home parish, but I might dip my toe in with a kerchief the way my Polish grandmother used to when I was little. Or a pillbox hat like the older ladies used to wear (also when I was a kid).
