**NOTES AND CORRECTIONS** - I mixed up my timeline a little for Arlecchino. She got her vision just before she challenged Crucabena. She wasn't wearing it in the short and I COMPLETELY forgot about the line from her vision story that goes "She merely concealed the Vision in the place closest to her heart before sending "Mother" a "pleasant little surprise."" She does still have the bloodfire without her vision so the rest of the segment is still accurate. Sorry about the mix up!
Do you think the whole Perinheri being asked inside that corridor if he was alive or dead was a nod to Schrodinger's Cat? Quantum Mechanics and virtual and real existence.. maybe that was the two worlds? Maybe Teyvat is virtual and the abyss/crimson moon world is the real counterpart?
That would also explain why Arlecchino constantly glitches.. as you said she could very well be related to that original orphanage and the name Peruere is so similar to Perinheri.. or maybe the Fatui tried a similar thing as Pierro asked Arlecchino to read the book himself.
Just in case you miss it... in silence temple if you talk with a woman in one of the rooms she gives a little info about the sages and... Apep... and with that my jaw drop I swear
"... all you need to be deserving of the throne is conviction, and the necessary strength to act on it," says Arlecchino, staring straight into the camera instead of Lyney, totally not suspiciously at all. Just a normal thing fathers say to their travellers. I mean sons.
or it may just be her breaking the 4th wall and telling us to terrorize the nation and establish an authoritarian government with us as the sovereign, which isn't a bad idea....
@@uranus-h- She said nothing about authoritarianism. Even a democratic leader, to deserve that leadership (unlike arguably at least the large majority of them), they need that conviction and strength. Doesn't mean they don't have everyone by their side, Arlecchino just believes you need the conviction and strength as a prerequisite. And that's not to achieve the throne alone, but to *deserve* it. She just went through her own ridiculous battle royale, but she's not about that 'game'. She's about having the means and motives to achieve positive change for the honest sake of the weak. She's not highly ethical, but she has a heart/hearth.
I think this is a common occurrence, because of how long the patches were, and it was a pretty dry patch with just 2 story quests, a world quest, and one limited event.
I'm personally reading a lot into the war mentions :D I saw someone say, on Hoyolab I think, in a reaction to "THE war" Miko mentions, that Ayato has been traveling across Teyvat for a while now and maybe it's not just pleasantries and basic diplomacy, maybe there has been a military coordination put in motion, managed by Inazuma/Ei. I thought it was plausible and then what happened? We get actual joined defense training event. I don't think that's a coincidence. We're getting serious foreshadowing here 👀
There's only 5 nations present too. Until we get to Natlan, we've yet to find out why. As for Snezhnaya, we know it's because Liyue and Snezhnayan relations are sour (actuall all of them are different degrees of mad at Snezhnaya) The question is if they'd reluctantly ally with Snezhnaya when the time comes.
Ever since seeing the bouncy Dodoco decoration in the teapot, I've waiting for a reveal that Dodoco were an evolution of slime that grew fur and rabbit ears and eggshell-like protective armor.
A silly fun fact in relation to 19:07 is that Remus (and Romulus) were also the children of Mars, making Phobos and Remus practically half-siblings lol (since a lot of lesser gods of Greek mythos were also added later in the Roman mythos) I love the silly sprinkles of easter eggs hoyo puts into this game. I also like how it likens the fact that there were a lot of wars both outside and inside and Remuria ended up sinking, since the real Roman Empire was very bellic and there were a lot of civil conflicts and is said to have 'fallen', but that's really only linguistics ajdhsjdhs very nice
I HAVE A THEORY: Project Stuzha is meant to use the blood fire that Arlecchino has to purge the memory of the World Tree, and that’s partly what we see with Dottore committing his experiment in blasphemy.
@IMtiredal true, the interesting part abt lore and bg descriptions is that you can take it both literally and figuratively lol. Just feel that it kinda aligns with all the hints about *the* war that the fatui and the tsaritsa could be planning, thats all. At this point I'm just reading way too much into everything
Scylla is pronounced Silla. Like scylla and charybdis from greek myth 4:13 correction to be made: She specifically mentions that it removes people’s memories of the HoTH. Which is most of their memories, but not ALL their memories in their entirety. Otherwise they wouldn’t know how to speak or walk, and be returned to an infant-like mental state. They still retain bits and pieces of who they are. But their memories of their family at the HoTH and upbringing are just gone. Edit: Also it’s kind of adorable how Arlecchino’s feelings are completely evident in her actions despite saying things to try to throw us off. She didn’t offer Lyney, Lyneyte, and Freminet those flame bottles because she wanted them gone for protecting the 2 kids who wanted to leave. She offered Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet those flame bottles because SHE wanted them to leave. Or rather, she’s afraid of them dying and wants them to prosper, so she offered them an out so they don’t have to face the potential dangers of project stuzha. And she was obviously happy when they decided to stay with her of their own free will. She likely gave the other kids the option to leave as well. It’s very clear she cares more about her kids than she does about herself. The whole point of her plan with neuvillette was to ensure that former HoTH members thrive in their new lives in Fontaine. She wants them to be happy, not to die for the HoTH on missions with objectives they may not even agree with. Hence the flame bottles. And the stacks and stacks of paperwork with kids labeled as “executed” is her lying to the fatui in official documentation while letting her kids go free. Bc she didn’t kill any of them. And wiping their memories of the HoTH also protects both current and former members, as they can’t be used for information by other organizations, so previous members be a useless target for the enemies of the HoTH.
Actually, the correct pronunciation is 'skilla' since this is a greek word. However, pronouncing it as 'silla' isn't wrong either since that's the latin pronunciation lol
I'm pretty sure Arlecchino's vision story says she actually got her vision before she killed the previous Knave? Unless I'm not interpreting her vision story correctly.
Nah you are right. It talks about how she took time to attempt to master it but never became powerful enough with her vision to defeat crucebina and that's why she resorted to the curse flame.
I want to touch a bit on what you said about the seeles and prophecy because I have a thought on that. Because there's a lot of ties to Greek mythology, when you mentioned that, my first thought was actually Apollo. Apollo was the name of both the Greek and Roman god of music and the arts, but also of prophecy. He also had a group of women, his half-sisters by Zeus, who stood for different forms of the arts, most of them being in writing or music. Apollo also had oracles, those who he had gifted the gift of prophecy to. His most famous oracle being the oracle of Delphi. Where is this going? Hell if I know, but I feel there's some kind of connection there. Also, I realized as you were talking about the Cyno quest that his mentor, Cyrus, is either a pun or a connection to Osiris. With that in mind, Sethos's grandfather must be Ra. In fact, he has to be. Not just because of his age and declining health, but also because of his name. His name is "Bamoun" and one of Ra's epithets is "Amun Ra," which makes "Bamoun" a switch of the words of the epithet and trading the R for a B. I find that VERY interesting.
Re oracles: we need a Cassandra now. Is there anyone in Teyvat, including anyone we've met, that is telling the truth about the future but who we're not taking seriously enough?
@@CreatrixTiara That is seriously a good point. I was going to name some of the other oracles, but Cassandra is a big one. There seems to be bits of Greek mythology scattered throughout the game and only one possibility comes to mind since we don't have a direct person at the moment to answer that question on. I have a feeling that, in the future, there might be a civilization we explore that's supposed to represent Troy. Cassandra was the princess of Troy, so it would only make sense for someone like that to be involved in that kind of civilization. With this in mind, we might not get that until we get to Snezhnaya or a point of the story with heavy Fatui influence. (Or, alternatively, the Fatui will be involved in some way.) Why? Because Childe (AKA: Ajax) and his brother, Teucer, are actually named after characters in one of the stories describing the Trojan war. It might not be much to go off of, but it makes sense if they were to go along with the original stories. I also don't think Cassandra could turn up as a playable character or even an NPC, but as a character we read about and learn about through lore. Personally, I'll be looking out for stories about girls who tells futures no one believes and who gets made as a concubine slave only to be murdered by her captive's wife. Not many stories follow that formula.
@@wordsmith6154and what if I said we already have a Cassandra and he's a well known NPC? Like Enjou? XD Enjou said to us that maybe one day Paimon could betray us. Of course we can't believe him, Paimon is our best friend, she always there for support us in our quest. It's impossible that she betray us? Since the beginning the "emergency food" joke is in the air between Traveler and Paimon. What if in fact it will be us the emergency food ? Because even we recover our powers we are still not enough strong to properly win against an Archon or Arlecchino. And Paimon eat and eat and eat constantly. And now we know that the descenders can be used for make Gnosis. Maybe the Primordial want to use Traveler for restore his powers and Paimon is an artifact for that. And she does'nt even know herself. I don't want to believe that, but I can totally see Hoyoverse do that in the future. They did worse in their other games. XD
@@capriciaelcid4743 I think... we already do. Remember in the 3.5 Windblume event where we got the Hexenzirkel lore drop? One of the descriptions of the Witches was "One who would never lie". That description belongs to... *Alice.* And think about it, it seems like she's just goofing off, doing random shit and causes us to go on summer trips with her daughter, but... every Summer Event shows us the themes and things that get introduced in the next region. They're functionally prophecies for us yet we initially dismiss them as random shit. Other than that we have an *actual* prophetess in Nicole but I feel like Alice fits the role of Kassandra much better.
Sence no one else has said it i think i should point out that Phothos in greek can also mean a type of music. I don't think hoyo intended for it to be fear but instead a music score that would fear in more with the rest of Remurias theme. Ps I just think there is ether a translation error or something like that because it makes more sense this way. But i could be wrong. Still just felt like poiting this out. Love the videos keep up the great work.
Arlecchino did have her vision when she fought Crucabena. She gained it from resolving to kill her. Ah the mispronunciation of all the Remuria names kills me. Scylla = Silla Cassiodor = Cassio-door Boethius = Bo-ee-thee-us Also on the Itto event, Miko directly mentions "the bigger war," it's not a hint or something to read into. It's plain text on the screen.
Always nice to have the recap, I did watch the cat with a blue hat video on the itto event and I would also recommend, basically explained how the event actually fixed a lot of gaps and plot holes in the inazuma archon quest
Slimes being the undeveloped goo/yolk of a dragon egg is wild. but I could see it being true. if Paimon likes the taste....maybe it has something to do with her past?? lol
I think it's interesting how all the saurians we saw so far manipulate two elements simultaneously, being pyro and their coloured element. Reminds me of the geovishaps which can infuse a second element in addition to geo, just in this case they're pyro?
I think Arlecchino is training Lynney already because of the line in her profile about how she fears that if the blackness spreads up her shoulder and over to her heart, she'll undergo some kind of change. It seems like the blackness might not have far to go, so it makes sense for her to prepare.
Note that Paimon’s dreams in Nahida’s story quest all involved her being a slime. And in Nahida’s 2nd quest there were fragments of Apep that were elemental beings (which slimes are also elemental beings) that just happened to take the form of fungi. What if slimes are also dragon fragments or remains in some way? And what does this imply with Paimon dreaming about being a slime?
Wait, wait, waittttt. so if history is repeating itself then is the loom of fate being associated with the kahnrean curse also mean that it is essentially the successful version of the fate altering hive minds
Man, I'm so grateful to you lore channels, you guys amplifies my love and understanding to this game, which is crucial part of the Genshin's experience.
I like how they do the build-up to the upcoming story with the Temple of Silence. I hope that it will help Traveller someday if we need to know more stuff about all this forbidden stuff. Also, I'm so sad that there are no readable items in the Temple yet, I'm so craving for more forbidden knowledge loreee
Wait hold up! Been awhile since ive played Genshin, but I do absolutely love your lore videos, but where the hell did you get those amazing anime looking scenes! 1:43
SKYLA??? The way thats pronounced is "Silla" scy-lla. the y after the c produces the soft c sound, not a k. just a minor thing but this was an amazing lore video! Cant wait for your breakdown on the Bedtime story quest lore!!!!
got burnt-out from Genshin's gameplay loop and have no motivation to play the game anymore, however, I still want to follow Genshin's story and world building but sometimes it's hard to find that stuff outside the game so your videos really help to keep me updated and guide me on what stuff I should be searching and read about. Thanks.
I havnt beem playing a lot recently and the only reason I still have the game installed is because I enjoy the archon quest and the universe lore. I miss a lot of things since I don't bother reading the side quests anymore and even when I actually paid attention to it, I still missed some connections. But something I do every week is looking to see if you got any video uploaded. I love your channel, I love when you explain stuff we otherwise wouldnt even have noticed and I love when you go BOOM ultra crazy. Thx for the vids, they are really fun and maybe what still makes me hooked into genshin lore.
“I just want to mention that the seelies had something to do with the goddess of prophecy. I feel like it might be important later” *Simulanca occurs* Me: Oh ya….its all coming together.
It would be funny if all the god kings were just displaced by one nation over. Remus came from Sumeru, Deshret could have come from Natlan considering it supposedly neighbours the desert and... we don't know any other god kings
the amount of STUFF in 4.6 ended up making me put it off WAYY too much and so im finally giving in and being spoiled for whatever is up with arlecchino in hopes itll kickstart a desire to actually play through the quests so im not confused asf when natlan comes out
Sooooo, Crucabena basically held the hunger games for the children of the orphanage? Or that's just the vibes I get personally, lmao. Seriously now, thank you for your recap and highlight videos, they are always very clarifying of any doubts that linger in my mindafter quests.
just a small observation, so arlecchino cross eyes and usual khaenriah eyes create 8 pointed khaenriah star when put together, is this already been pointed out in some videos ? considering 2 dynasties in khaenriah, what if everyone with kaeya dainsleif eyes are from eclipse dynasty and arlecchino is the first character from crimson moon that we meet, and its not unique to her only ? i got this idea when arlecchino and kaeya were mentioned together and thought it was cool
7:16 wait you mean 5 traitors of khaenri'ah, who already succumb to abbys, the eclipse dynasty is cooperating with Tsaritsa to taken down Celestia?! 😮 That would be epic
Arlecchino’s flames being able to wipe memories reminds me how Nahida erased Rukkhadevata. So if flames can burn away information from the world does that mean Arlecchino can destroy Irminsul??
Wait, it just dawned on me, the 8 Ba fragments are a parallel to the Gnoses. They are shards of a deceased person, which grant their wielders power. The fragment in the SQ even took the form of a heart. It's also 'implanted' into a person in the same way the Gnoses are (as we see in Mondstadt). There is even an old theory that there should be 8 Gnoses instead of 7, because they are represented by chess pieces. In hindsight this parallel is extremely obvious, why did this take so long for me to notice... Anyways, will the Fatui need an 8th Gnosis to complete whatever their goal is? Is this "8th Gnosis" the Heart of Naberius?
Wait, what's the math on Arlecchino's age? She became a harbinger at 17 and Lyney and Lynette were recruited 10 years ago by her. Does it say anywhere they they were recruited shortly after Arlecchino came to power?
Wait so basically Deshret traveled to Sumeru's desert to take it as his own, and then Remus went NORTH to avoid conflict with Deshret? And Morax's region had no designated God King? It sounds like Deshret, Decarabian, Remus and Morax are starting to have a lot of conflict avoidance within their histories.
We already knew they would try to take down Celestia but they're still missing one of the Gnosis the Pyro one unless they got a substitute their plan is not only not going to work it's going to end up f****** up the entire world cuz keep in mind Celestia probably the computer inside of it is maintaining the sky and the entire world and keeping the abyss monsters that invaded during the calamity at Bay and I hate to say this Fatui going to fail most of them are going to die and their entire Kingdom will be reduced to Ash cuz Celestia and the Heavenly principle ain't just going to stand there and take it they're going to level entire cities just to take them out or an entire nation. Pretty much they think the Heavenly principle is weaker now which is true but even I know a weaken God can still cause a lot of damage cuz it will not be an easy fight this will literally put the entire world in danger not just their Nation cuz if that artificial sky is destroyed or interrupted by War the abyss monsters from 500 years ago will attack the entire world and the traveler and everyone else around the world will have to save the entire world from from this disaster. But that's just a theory so far. My theory is that the Heavenly principle will not go down without a fight cuz I know she going to be killing armies of Fatui and wiping out most of their Nation before being brutally killed or captured. Cuz I can literally see it the harbingers ganging up on one powerful God and half of them are going to die and the other half will finish her off somehow being epic fight that probably wreck the entire nation probably and the traveler probably has to help not die.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤔🤔🤔🤔
Unrelated, but could Guizhong be the third descender? It does explain the starry design and why she looks like Lumine. Also her look-a-like member of the fatui harbingers could be used with the gnosis they are collecting to complete the requirements for wishing. Like Irisviel in Fate/Zero. I think this tin foil hat has consumed me.
