Food can have incredible anti-inflammatory effects!
Eating the right foods can contribute to reduced arthritis pain, reduced stiffness and can help to preserve the joint, preventing progression of osteoarthritis. Including certain foods into your osteoarthritis diet can make you feel so much better and give you more freedom to move.
In this video, join Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis as she explains which foods can be beneficial in reducing inflammation and helping your arthritic joints feel better.

You excel at taking information and putting it in a format that is both effective and understandable. I've seen lists that had my head spinning of both good and problematic foods, when to eat them, when not to eat them, with what else to eat them, etc.... I loved the plan to start with these four plus just one to avoid. I see a part 2 on this in the future, but I for one appreciate small, digestible (pun intended!) bites of helpful info. Thank you.

When I stopped eating sugar and flour it not only helped my arthritis symptoms it eliminated my insomnia. I had been told that as a post menopausal woman that a full night's sleep was a thing of the past. I subsisted on 3 hours a night for months and considered getting 5 hours a miracle. Now i have to set an alarm so i don't sleep for 10 hours.

As part of my breast cancer treatment, I am on an aromatase inhibitor to block estrogen for 4 more years (5 years total). It's to help prevent a reoccurrence of breast cancer. One of the side effects is severe joint and muscle pain. I found your videos in an effort to help with this pain without medication. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping me manage my joint pain. The hand exercise and anti-inflammatory videos have really helped. Thank you!

I have been on a good diet for years and I would recommend this video. It's regretable that no doctor has ever mentioned a diet like this to me. Try a shredded carrot with walnuts on brown or sourdough. Bread

Hi Alyssa appreciate your videos. I've always eaten the foods you mentioned and I have always been an active person. I was a firefighter for 30 years and I retired over a year ago. I had to replace my R knee after two arthroscopic surgeries and have had a pervious arthroscopic surgery on my L knee. I ride a stationery bike everyday as it helps my joints and my mind and I also play pickleball by the end of the day I must elevate my knee and ice it. I just had an MRI on my L knee awaiting for a L knee replacement due to my pain. But approximately a month ago I stopped eating meats due to the cruelty of factory farming and my L knee pain has subsided so much it's unbelievable . My Surgeon said I have grade 3 and 4 arthritis with other damage but recommended to hold off on the TKR due to the improvement of my symptoms . The meat I was eating came from animals that are feed unnaturally and live a very stressful life, which I believe contributed to my inflammation. Would appreciate your thoughts on how factory farm meats effect your gut and inflammation .

I was told foods with lectins also increases inflammation. I went anti lectin a couple years ago and pain went away and lost 30 pounds. Pain back because of poor diet. Will definitely follow this and it will help

Check and see if the ground turkey has added sugar. I’ve been really frustrated searching for ground turkey and chicken, and pork sausage since many have added sugar like dextrose. I even saw one that added rosemary extract, WHY!?! All I want is the meat, I can season it myself.

The best thing I ever did for my arthritis was just go full carnivore (started keto then went carnivore). Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, aches. I no longer hobble when I get out of bed, don't "feel" weather changes in my joints. Post workout recovery is amazing, arthritis gone, brain fog gone, lost the excess menopausal weight, absolutely no bloating or swelling ever. Skin, hair and nails have never been healthier. My bloodwork, even cholesterol, is perfect. I take no pharmaceuticals, not even OTCs. It's like I'm aging in reverse. I didn't feel this good in my 30s/40s/50s, currently in my 60s. It's controversial and not for everyone, but I've never felt better.

Not only is this great information for health but for life. I suffered a stroke 8 years ago and changed my diet and improved dramatically by eliminating processed foods and refined sugar and did Whole Foods incorporating fatty fish whole vegetables and eliminated high fructose corn syrup completely by reading the labels on food I consumed.

Im actually happy that someone (occupation/physical therapists) made a diet video... It's basic but gets to the point.... especially great for newcomers looking for diet question. Oh plus remember the food must be fresh....and not processed what do ever....and nothing wrong if you freeze your food....plus supplement may also have corn syrup/crap in them so read ingredients. Avoid soft drinks....it's sugar water, especially DIET drinks.

are here any supplements you would suggest to help get these benefits? SUgar alcohols in most fruit destroy my stomach, bloating, cramping, diarreha and walnuts cause similar although less same symptoms.

Is High Fructose Corn Syrup mainly a US thing? Is it derived from corn? Most sugar in UK is derived from beet. Is that different to HFCS in some way?

HFCS is used in the United States. Other countries might have different rules around the use in their food.

Inhave reflux and barrets esophagus nd cant have Ny acidic fruits. So berries are hard for me. I can now after 3 yrs eat about 5. Sigh loved blue and strawberries for yrs before. I never smoked, drank alcohol, or coffee and rarely in last35 yrs pop but man I have wicked arthritis and now barrets. I make a lot of our meals but do use too much sugar. Thanks

Good info but ... I've heard that walnuts are bad for men's Hormones. Is that true? Also blueberries are rather expensive. That small container she held up is over 4 dollars anywhere I've been. Bummer!

Sadly, blueberries are very expensive in Australia and seasonal. I avoid most fish products and any supplements made from fish oil, eg krill oil due to the damage commercial fishing does to our oceans and its inhabitants. Unfortunately greedy businesses will Plunder anything they see as a source of profit. Whales will be driven to starvation by overfishing of krill stocks. The best I can do is avoid those foods which are harmful.
