A disability organization better known as Life Skills had a bus just like this one. This one is known as the Sheller-Globe Superior. I am not sure what Superior called their 4-piece windshields. But the wrap-around windshields they used to have was the Scene-o-Ramic. Superior even used to have a "Scene-o-Ramic" door! Pause the video at 1:47, you see the Sheller-Globe version. The scene-o-ramic doors had the sharp corners in the windows on the doors rather than the rounded ones. And for the Jackknife version of that door, they tried a rearward, inward fold where the door not only folded inside the bus but as it opened, it folded to the back. At 3:50, you get a good view of where the old door lever sat when you had the rearward opening jackknife door. Also the dash you see wasn't available in the 1960s. That dash design you see with the interior shot was designed to help force the hot air onto the windshield on cold days. Only difference with this bus and the one that Life Skills had is that Life Skills also had a 48 passenger version.
Nowadays, most bus bodies are paired up to one chassis manufacturer, such as Thomas bus bodies on Freightliner chassis. Back in prior years, most bus bodies were available with any brand chassis.....Thomas could be had on Chevy, GMC, International, Ford for example.
Body and chassis manufacturers used to be separate entities. Today all Type C and D buses are built by a single company. BlueBird builds their own chassies. Thomas was bought by Freightliner which is owned in turn by Daimler AG. International/Navistar was just a part owner of Ward/Amtran when they decided to exercise their option and bought them out so it's not so much "pairing" as "owned together".
Its remarkable how similar parts of that Chevy superior are to my GMC Bluebird 1975. If you guys want the bench seats that came out of my bus you are welcome to have them.
