Awesome video! This is the best tent set up imho. Lots of room to move around nice and warm. What kind of burn times are you getting out of that square stove? I’m thinking the home built 20lb propane tank stove has more heat out put and longer burn times. I was a little bummed out about summer almost being over and this video has me a bit wound up for winter now. I figured that looked like Alberta country then I heard Burnt Timber.
When I pack the stove and close the vents ill get 3 hours or so. I try to burn hard woods through the night. This is my favorite way to camp in winter. Keeping it warm at night entices the family to go as well. The only problem with propane is the moisture, especially when its cold. Alberta County 100%
It looks like you've got the same amount of snow as I do here in central New Brunswick. Where are you located? The gear looks great, and the video is awesome! I've subscribed :)
We are in Southern Alberta. we have been using this set up for a couple of years now. The hut is easyier to set up than a large canvas tent and has held up really well.
@@MuskratJim Ice huts are great for this kind of camping. We chose the Eskimo because the window panels are removable wich make it easy to install a stove jack without having to cut anything. In Phil's Cabella's hut he had to cut out the window panel to install his stove jack. Maybe I should do a vid on the modifications we did to our huts. What do you think?
Hello Muskrat Jim, the huts are awesome with so many options you can really mod it up to your liking. The modifications can be time consuming depending on the model. If you are looking for one try to find an option for removable windows, it makes it easier. Thanks for watching. Let us know if you decide to buy a hut.
@@lundriganoutdoors8687 awesome thank you so much for the quick response. do you feel like there is an advantage to hot tenting using a wood stove vs using a propane heater? besides a cooking platform of course. and obviously the propane heater would be a Buddy style heater with the Carbon Monoxide detection. and maybe even a secondary detector for the skeptics
im planning on doing some ice camping this winter. I have the disc o bunks too. Ive been looking at getting a bigger fishing hut. Is that the Fatfish 949?
We mostly use the shelter and stove in cold weather. It has not been in heavy rain over long periods of time. Although we have been in it during freezing rain and sleet storms with no issues.
