Severe COLD Russian HOT Tent. Hottest night of my life winter camping.

I never could have imagined how much this tent was going to mean to me. This tent is more than thick double walled material, cool camo with a stellar stove, and an insulated floor. This tent represents a challenge, and I love that. It gets me out of my comfort zone. It brings me closer to nature and it keeps me super warm! On this trip, it gets down to -35 C / -31 F outside. It also gets to +45 C / +110 F inside!

Brother Jay you have given a better product review of this tent than any that I've seen anywhere else. Watching this episode instills the desire to purchase one more than the commercials the company has produced; I certainly hope they appreciate you as much as we the viewers do.

Hey Jay, an eco fan would be great for that stove. It would move your heat around the tent and prevent the top of the tent from getting so hot.

I agree, the tent is one of the best that I have seen in a long time. Definitely worth staying in it a week or longer if possible. My only complaint is the cost, but I guess that is to be expected for quality….

The footage of the tent, smoke and northern lights was mesmerizing. I could easily spend my night looking at that view and nothing else. My husband once found 2 cast iron fajita pans someone had put in the dumpster at his job. He brought them home, I cleaned them up and they are the best for cooking steaks! Nice score you have there with yours Jay. Once again, you have brought to us an amazing video of your time out in frozen Canada. Thank you sir.

Just a suggestion: Those plastic bottles with peppermint oil should be closer to the ground, like on or under the base of your tent. We used to have a mice problem in our basement and I would put a few drops right onto the floor close to the corners of the walls. Mice normally walk along the ground. By hanging them, where you did, the scent will dissipate more quickly the colder it gets. In hindsight it was probably a good idea that you did hang it outside, because those drops, that you put in the FIRST bottle, are Concentrated!!! big time!! and with the heat of the stove that scent would have been way too much to smell - unless of course you like the strong smell of peppermint!! ha ha

Yes, I was chuckling to myself as I watched him put over 50 drops in that bottle! You gave good advice about the mouse track.

Jay, I was wondering why I love your videos so much and I figured it out….Of all the folks I follow on RU-vid, I feel that you have this “gift” of making me and probably others feel like your are having a conversation directly to us, like we are sitting right in front of you! You take comments and apply the wisdom being offered and admit that you’re learning and we’re learning right along with you! And yes a string of lights are necessary since the tent is so much darker. Stay warm my friend!

I would recommend that the manufacture of the tent change the inside to a solid light color. Camouflage color is not needed inside the tent as it looks dark and cave like sensation. I do not do camping, so it does not really matter to me, but if I did, I would want a solid light color. Looking forward to a new video at the other tent. LOL 🙂🙂🙂

Awesome video. I'm stuck at home recovering from major surgery. Been cooped up at home for months recovering. I absolutely love watching outdoor camping, since I can't do it myself right now. We had a few inches of ice/ snow last weekend in NC and I camped in my truck. I drove out in the woods and made a small camp. So much fun... We are expecting a small snow tomorrow night and I plan on going again. Thanks... Videos like yours has helped in my recovery..

Hey, there's a ton of pine trees out there. I'm sure there are at least some that have good globs of pine sap. That works even better than birch bark for fire starting. I usually start my fires with a dime sized glob of pine sap and super tiny pine branches from a dead branch.

I was thinking some of those white LED mini Christmas lights around the tent ceiling would be perfect for lighting. Low power draw and lots of light. I'd let them warm up before powering them on though. Might even be able to get them at a post-holiday sale price this time of year. Great job showing how well that tent handles the cold. Crazy to see nearly 90 deg F inside when it's -27 deg F outside. Wow.

Those bushcraft knives are a hoot. I got two a couple years ago when the fad was dying down. I use the shorter one as a utility knife (box cutter) at home, and a longer one turned into a super kitchen knife for slicing fruit to make smoothies, real fast & on the fly. They can be sharpened to razor sharpness & they hold their edge pretty good. I love camping & all but I'm handicapped & wheelchair dependent. So that won't happen anytime. Anyhow I love those knives.

Okay, guys... A few words about the color of the inner tent. If you noticed, the camouflage color of the inner tent is located only up to half the height of the tent, and there is a white fabric above it. I think it's clear to everyone that white fabric services for better lighting. The lower part is made camouflaged because the tent should also be practical. If the lower part was also light, it would get dirty very quickly: firewood, caught fish (if you are fishing), you yourself constantly go back and forth... The fabric will inevitably get dirty, it will look dirty and sloppy. That's the whole reason. Perhaps it somehow affects the lighting inside, but something has to be sacrificed. :)

Love the feather stick and birch bark fires. When we were young we used to (of course when there was sun) make fires with a magnifying glass. This didn't impress my Dad so sometimes we got whacked with the wooden spoon. We were stupid hey? Why didn't we try and set that darn spoon on fire. Oh boy oh boy oh boy...the ignorance of youth! That tent and stove are awesome. It looks so warm. Love how you enjoy your time in the wild. Wishing you tons of adventures in 2022 and thereafter. Enjoy! Wow Jay you’ve gone viral. Feel like I came in on the ground floor early on. As a fellow 🇨🇦 proud of you. Glad you read about the peppermint essential oils. Feel like I may have played a very small part in that decision as I was one of the first to suggest it. I can’t believe the views you are starting to receive. You must be excited. I’m excited for you.

Once again a great vid to watch. Monday nights are the new Friday. Look forward so much to your video being posted. The tent looks great, bit overkill hear in blighty though. Still good test and review. Northern lights are amazing. Keep up the great work.

Hi Jay!! Wow... the night sky was pretty energetic with the electrojets from the aurora borealis (in the intro). Brilliant idea to film it. Thank you. It looked like a tornado of energy formed. Quite stunning. I am more & more finding this Russian Bear Tent is practical for the value. One thing you can do to repell pests like rats, get a box of moth balls. Many pests do not like the scent. Cockaroches hate it too. 😁 just place a few outside near the edges of your tent. In fact, line them all around the tent. Just leave them there. lol You can also place them inside the tent ... just uae less. You will see the amazing difference. No more droppings. It is an old time remedy from the 1800s during the outbreaks. My great grand aunt told me and so have my grandmamá. Note: With essential oils, cotton balls are best to use as they will not dry up fast like tissue do. And then with cotton balls, you can use less drops of the essential oil. Caipisan (cayene) is a good choice too. Bears will not enter the tent. 👍 Thank you for sharing your experiences. They are life long & helpful tips. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❤🥰🙏👵

Don’t feel bad about fire starting. Seen people who always have about of 20 bottles of lighter fluid on hand to start a fire

I don't need one of those tents, but I want one! Damn it Jay your not making this easy. Lol. I can start any fire with two sticks,.......as long as one is a match. When it's minus colder than a mother in-laws kiss, no matter what stove you have, it will suck the firewood out through the chimney faster than rootbeer through a straw at a kids birthday party. "Fine Tent Dining With Jay" carnivore edition. Those barrel stoves, like in your other tent, are nice if you have lots of wood to burn. They're not very efficient. Love the shots of the Northern Lights. We had a good display last night here in northern B.C. Till the next video. Cheers. 👋🇨🇦

Hi Andy! Haha. I'm the same ... Love matches. And you are right the colder, the faster stoves will chew your wood.
