4 quick and easy tips to test and care for your bareroot roses from Jackson and Perkins horticulturist Stephan Winterfeldt.
Tip # 1: The scratch test
Simply scratch a couple of the canes and if you see green, that means it's alive.
Tip # 2: Epsom salt
Epsom salt helps roses gently grow. Just a quarter of a cup added to a gallon of water, and pour that on each rose at the base.
Tip # 3: Brown or dead tips
Prune off the brown or dead tip to about half an inch into the green area.
Tip # 4: Watering
Very important, water 3 to 4 times a week.
That's your 4 easy tips.
