Dear Lord is my father a Dominant ENTJ. Hurricane is definitely what it felt like in his wake. I don’t think that I’ve ever met anyone more psychologically dominating… except for our son hahaha. I’m still recovering from the ENTJ scars from childhood. I was super close to him and he taught me a lot about Psychology since he originally moved to this country to study Psychiatry at Northwestern U, but then became a surgeon hahah. Yep. There is never a day that my Father isn’t thinking, planning, or learning and that’s just before 8 am. I don’t know how to describe it really, but hurricane feels right. My Te is more developed than other ENFPs. I thought that I was an ENTJ haha. They really are big babies though if you patiently wait out their storms. I understand all NT’s on a visceral level like knowing when the hulks arrive haha… they’re on the plane. Ahhaha. I quit engineering after the first year, that was just my differentiation from my ENTJ father’s life plans for me. I live on the other end of the spectrum where hyper empathy lives 😂😂😂😂. Getting nothing done and everything done all at once 😊. Just watch. 😅😮😊🎉

I'm an 81yo female ENTJ. Particularly back in my early days women were not only not allowed to be entj's, if we exhibited any behavior remotely close, we were told that No that's not who we really were. I was mid 30's before I finally got professional corroboration and acceptance of who I am. So I sometimes still hesitate to claim the type because of some of the public figure examples that are used. So this discussion was a breakthru description that allowed me to fully embrace the type, particularly with the subtypes. I encountered enough points where I literally yelled out loud YES! that I got the dog all riled up. One point was the example he gave about brainstorming. I was forced thru so many corporate training programs about Brainstorming. The Personnel guys and the Trainers would be "wow, wasn't that a great session" and my response was "we just wasted 3 hours on a fairy tale that isn't remotely possible - either technically or politically. And now I have to tell the team that their "great idea" is not going to get implemented. Gah lol.

You nailed it with the creative type having an ENFP/ENTP feeling. I took many tests and even paid for being typed professionally and I consistently received ENTJ results. Very insightful video.

Yup, I am a creative ENTJ. After taking the test the commander type didn't really sit well with me. I have all of the traits for sure but I'm not the corporate leader type. I do resonate with the other types that the creative relates to. I watch a lot of other creators explain how not all ENTJ's are the same and how they explain it more describes me, all down to my commanding presence (people tell me that I project my voice and speak with authority) and love having fun like a kid. On the other hand If I don't know you well I will come off as charismatic (which is natural but feels fake to me) but I don't show the fun side, you have to peel off the layers like the onion analogy to get that side of me. It is all to do with how relaxed with you I am. I am always assessing situations and analyzing people. If I talk to one person and I feel comfortable to peel a layer so to speak and get into deeper topics and a new person enters the conversation I will go back to the surface topics again until I figure out the new person. It is mainly to not offend people as I get on with everyone that I meet, no matter of the background.

Love the story about the success revamping an engineering college program so that retention went from 40% to 90%. Incredible. I think it was an ENTJ Creative who did that.

A question comes up with the 4 brain patters per type, does the subconscious compliment or directly correlate. IOW for me an ISTP and likely a Creative type would my ENFJ subconscious be Creative or some compliment (Harmonizing or Normalizing?). I would guess complimentary. Loved the Jung comment that change occurs when something weird happens that causes it (IOW) change happens and requires a new way of doing things.

interesting question. We can go to basic principles: subconscious or shadow material is generally as far away as one can get from the ego, but there are layers to it, and half way is often a good compromise. Depends on what you are ready for.

So I’m an ENTJ and all of these describe me quite equally. I feel as though my Te and Ni are almost equal in strength, my Se feels a bit underdeveloped because of my strong intuitiveness. My Fi is still my weakest as I attempt to understand emotions, and am very good at analyzing emotions logically, but I find emotional empathy to be difficult to indulge in. I still try my best and am working on it though.

43:50 yesssss to the beautiful internal dichotomous struggle that is good and evil within humanity. I find a lot of beauty in discussing - and feeling - this. And especially observing others feeling this. I heard him say here in this time stamp that ENTJs (more externally manifested though?), INFPs, and ISFPs are known to do this. I could see this being an NFP thing, but also, I thought that INFJs are especially built for this? What in the function stack makes these three specific types (ENTJ, INFP, ISFP) that Dario mentioned able to appreciate this dichotomy Vs all the other types?

I talked first how IxFP's are (usually) aware and accepting of the good/evil dichotomies inherent with being human, and we cannot just stamp out one side and expect to still be human. In contrast, ENTJs tend to be accepting of the reality of opposites, out in the world (e.g. peace and conflict are natural, inherent aspects of society, and perfectly peaceful society for example is literally not possible or even desirable). As for ESTJ, we can phrase it differently, in that ESTJs tend to see you have to break a few eggs and inevitably leave a few people unhappy when getting a job done.

Enneagram 7w8 suggests Creative subtype. From the brain and demographic data, it looks like day-to-day work environment has a big impact. Are you more in the middle of a big organization, or at the top of an organization, or more on a creative team or entrepreneurial or creative, or more one-on-one with people? (N, D, C or H).

@@TheAncientSpirits Thanks for the reply. I work in a small organization, starter job. Work is okay, although I miss a creative outlet. I studied something entirely different, but I could not find a job in that field. That is life, sometimes you need to change your course.

@@muma6559I think the best current theories suggest we all use all 8 cognitive functions. Just in different ways and obviously preferences. But at the same time, I think externally Te and Fe can appear very similar. Our perceptions of others' types are filtered through our own type.

I've Never said my best-fit type is ENFP. Rather, I've said ENFP is my consciously adopted media/public persona (since my mid 20s). I've always id'd as INTJ and the people who know me in person see it plainly.

@@muma6559 I sort of automatically think of the most efficient way to do something. Efficient includes time, resources, money, effort, etc. For example, when writing, I figure out a template and then "plug and chug", as the saying goes in engineering. Or, when it comes to brainstorming, for example, or overseeing cover art, I understand these require more open time, and as long as I trust the people or process, knowing it will lead to progress on the task, then I will entertain it. When sometime requires waiting or simmering, I work on a different project for a while.

@@TheAncientSpirits yeah, that makes sense. Do you need and is it vital for you to have a template and/or plan "before" embarking on any project, study, process, etc ?? So you would know where you are headed or to know where you are going and to reasonably believe you will succeed "before" starting ?

@@muma6559 I'd say yes to all of that. I always start with a template, strategy, or plan (with contingencies) in place. Even when it's something artistic, like writing a song or short story, I have a strategy. Usually, I don't know how the details will turn out, but I know the direction and do have confidence enough to "trust the process". There are boundaries to all this. When something is over-specified, it's boring. And I have learned that something can like look super open-ended but actually there is a strategy, just a very abstract one.

OMG... my mum could no longer make up words that made sense.... an ENTJ, and eventually that part of the brain no longer connected, she couldn't communicate properly for 12 years. She must have made up words with confidence for such a long time, but in old age......... it no longer worked....... you've just given me a brain-wave. It all makes sense now. Dario !

17:58 ok so, just as I commented on the ENFP subtypes’ video, as I’m trying to decipher the ven diagram overlap in various typing systems…example…could CSJ typed UDUF ENTJ = ENFP enneagram 7 sexual in system Mongolian Mindset = x subset ENFP in system Dario? Which subset(s) of ENFPs are most commonly conflated with creative ENTJ? I’d love a pivot table of the leading typology systems’ (heck, why not add in DISC and StrengthsFinder themes) outputs on individuals that each of the systems have typed. We get the most typical formulas across systems. Then we Tableau that shit. Paint a story so we can all understand the bigger picture across systems. Let the Ne patterns emerge!

I haven't given it a ton of thought. I am more driven by data over frameworks, and I don't feel a need to add another model to the type framework. That said, from a coaching or counseling POV, it might be quite useful, but I'm not those. Antonia Dodge has said that the yin/yang (Holistic/Analytic) of each function is provided her a ton of mileage for coaching, so I'd go there first.

I wonder if Elon Musk aligns more closely with the Dominant Creative Subtype, as evidenced by his use of Introverted Intuition (Ni) to creatively advance industries and bring his visionary ideas to fruition. He is definitely Passionate about improving systems and processes. I don't get a testosterone fueled Te only dominant personality from him so my guess he is one of the other three subtypes. I get that limitations of observing celebrities through media and the possibility of them presenting a persona different from their true type is more common with Fe users than Fi user's but Elon seems to be authentic in his interactions with people hinting at a more harmonizing Diamond field brain pattern. Perhaps the Diamond Field pattern are people who are close to individuation based on developing their inferior introverted functions more Ni and Fi and taking the time to truly develop said functions besides the dominant Extroverted OR TERTIARY. I can totally get why developing Se would hint at a Starburst pattern in the brain, correlated with dopamine due to Se user's loving to indulge in said sensory stimuli and wanting new experiences in the present moment. An amazing video!
