Hi Guys,
I am on location tonight in the Pacific Creek Valley in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In 1983, 4 hunters were the last ones in the valley preparing for an October hunt. The next morning 2 of the hunters went into the valley to start the hunt . There they started experiencing something strange and frightening that followed them back to their camp. They decided they needed to make a decision!

In 1973 I lived in Auburn, Washington..My sister and her husband came for over..we sat around talking, playing games..at 3 am my sister and I decided to go outside and look at the stars..while looking at the stars it suddenly got quiet..the dogs quit barking suddenly..dead silence..then suddenly as we stood outside ..we heard a loud scream.. sounding like the sound a bigfoot makes ..I couldn't believe what I heard..stood frozen..couldn't move..my sister had to push me to get me to move and get back in the house..I have never forgotten this experience..that was 50 years ago.

Had a similar experience when we emigrated from the UK to British Columbia in 2016. Hiking close to the Washington border in the Cascades at the time and just a shirt drive from our front door 2 rocks thrown in front of us hit the same tree, both times in quick succession. Heard something heavy breaking brush above where the rocks came from. Had a dreadful sense of foreboding and we got out of the area very quickly. Not a good introduction to hiking and we live in an area we later found out with a long history of Sasquatch encounters. Can definitely relate to a sense of primal fear as we felt something was coming for us on the way back down the trail.

What a great story Chris!!! Your special effects always get me like the rock throwing. Lol. This story was so eerie to me. It really unnerved me. It's incredible how we have such beautiful nature to see but yet it can be frightening. The deer story is sad but terrifying. What could do that?? I don't know for sure if the fear I experienced once was primal but it was enough for my hair to stand on end. It was a paranormal experience I once had but it scared the bejeebers out of me. I believe there is so much out there that we don't even know about. You are a great story teller and guy!!! Stay safe out there !!!!! Thank you for sharing. ❤

My Grandmother told my Mother, my Mo, than told me the same thing "That if the hair stands up on the back of your neck, feel fear, to listen to my instincts, as my instincts are telling there is danger to go a different direction or get away ." Birds warn other birds of danger in our backyards such as when a hawk is around. In a forest researchers have discovered birds, mammals and even fish recognize the alarm signals of other species. If your in a forest when all the animals become quiet there is a predator nearby, where I live it could be a cougar (Mountain lions) as there are lot of them.

Let me tell you, Chris, how much I adore you and your storytelling. I’ll try to make a long story short. I used to hike when I lived in Montana. This was back in the mid 90’s. I grew up in Memphis so the dry air of Montana in the summer was fantastic!!! I was a young girl, just in my early 20’s then. I modeled and was very active. (I’m currently 50 years old. ) Fast forward 27 years and I’m back in the southeast, married and developed diabetes. Last year I developed a serious infection in my foot and they would need to amputate my left leg. I was so sick. I was septic and on deaths door and had no idea! Thank God it a was below the knee amputation and not above. This was February 2022, and I’m now on my 3rd prosthetic which is pretty fast for the time frame. I’m doing better than I ever imagined. Your videos have inspired me to get back on the trail and start hiking again. I am forever grateful that I came across your channel. You seem like someone who I would hang out with. I love your personality and your storytelling has been such a gift to me and many others. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Chris. ❤❤❤

Chris did my story a few weeks ago under the title "Hikers Ignored WARNINGS and Went Anyway!" Thank you again Chris for that it was awesome to contribute to your channel. Regarding the Primal Fear aspect, as someone who has experienced it firsthand I can say it is like nothing you can imagine. Like he related in our story we were not the type that scared easily and we ended up running like terrified Children and we never actually saw it. The fear just switched on. In thinking about my experience and how it is identical to others, I wonder what it is that triggers it. I have heard that these creatures might use low frequency sound waves to induce the fear, or perhaps its a Pheromone that we cant actively smell but it goes straight to our primal center and triggers it. Whatever it is, the fear is obviously a survival instinct that we have and those things take a long long time to develop. Dr. Lloyd Pye theorized that these creatures are actually Neanderthals or some kind of offshoot.

Hi Chris - bravo! Taking us to the exact location was a master stroke and gave me a feeling of real connection to the drama. This episode was absolute tops of so many fabulous episodes! For me, primal fear is totally connected to the flight component of the fight-and-flight response. It begins in the brain and goes straight to the gut, the bladder can let us down and the strongest urge is to RUN. Good that the hunters all went with their instincts to leave and no-one opposed that decision. Did you feel spooked out there?!! Keep hiking Chris, and keep safe - kiwi Linda 😊

Wow. That was a good one. You worry me sometimes. Primal fear is a fear you don't question or think twice about. You move and quickly. It's a high alert knowing to get away. And not to look back. I really wish you would have someone with you on these trips you take. You just never know when something is going to happen. And it usually does when your not expecting it. I've had that experience a few times. Be careful out there Chris. Thank you for doing what you do. I really enjoy watching . Only because I believe bigfoot is real.

I think primal fear can even happen in your own home. Just like unexplained sounds that wake you up. Most of the time it's something natural such as a varmint messing with the trashcan. You never know whether it's an intruder or what. Primal fear may be the natural reaction to survive an unwanted situation.

It amazes me how you do these stories in a creepy forest in the first place, but the fact that you went to the actual place, tracing their every footstep and moment in the exact location is leaving me speechless. I could never lol. Great storyteller you are!!!

I was at Hochatown Oklahoma, not far from Broken Bow OK taking a walk at night up a hill near our cabin. When all of a sudden I felt that primal fear and took off back down to the cabin!! I was fine walking until I got about half way up the hill. I’ve always wondered why I felt so scared so fast. I think you answered my question with your story. Thank you!

Chris, superb story! I have to ask: do YOU ever get creeped out or have that primal fight-or-flight feeling when you tell stories in the exact same place where they were experienced? It might be neat to do a sort of post-mortem on some of these places! Stay safe, and KEEP ON HIKING ❤

Your being right there where those 4 guys had been and the nighttime dinner back at camp were almost as scary as the story. Actually, 3 stories. Good story telling, and I felt like I was right there. Seems like there are many sightings in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Must be the corporate "office" for Sasquatches. The salmon dinner really looked good. A great Friday night routine for you and Jeannette. Thanks Chris for another Sunday night chiller. The dark road on the drive out was spooky too. Take care.

When I had an experience (just audible, not visual), once I came to the conclusion of what it might be, I froze. I was literally petrified. People say that, but I never knew what it meant until then. I had always thought up to that point that it would be cool to hear or see a sasquatch, but when it really did happen, I wanted to get away and never come back.

For some of you folks that have just started listening to Base camp Chris, this is a classic BCC story! Story's like this is what got me hooked listening to him. What a great story based in Alpine County where the unexplained things happen when you're camping. Chris you finished the story with a nice Salmon dinner which is another testament to old school BCC. Thank you for sharing and going back to your roots. KH!

When I saw Sasquatch I was so scared I couldn't move for about 15 minutes. i had to talk myself into moving. My binoculars were hanging from my neck but I couldn't move to pick them up. My rifle was in my left hand, couldn't move. Finally got moving but kept my eyes glued to the Bigfoot.

I actually have a lot to say about this one. Chris, I've been watching your videos for almost a year now, and find the 'Campfire stories' vibe to be very fun and enjoyable. It's what drew me to your content, and keeps me there. I also would like to mention that I've noticed an increase in your production value. The camera goes out of focus less often, you're putting more effort into editing, and some of the shots (like the two lanterns on the table in this one) are VERY well framed and make for good viewing. In an effort to encourage the things I enjoy about your channel, I'll mention that I'm glad this one returned to form a little bit. I missed your meals (and Salmon and Asparagus sounds REALLY good to be honest) in some of the more recent videos, and I always enjoy you mentioning and talking about your equipment. I'm not saying ditch the stories by any means, but to me you were at your best when it was the whole package. Break down of where you are, making a meal, your beer for the video, and then the story. For me what made that good was the 'we're camping together via the magic of RU-vid' vibe and that's ultimately what I'm here for. This video was especially fun considering it's October, and going to the location of the story gave it a thrill. I did realize while preparing to write this that I'd forgotten until now to subscribe, so I've made the effort to subscribe and I'm looking forewords to your next video. Have a nice night, and Keep Hiking!

The best yet! Love this episode. I appreciate all the additional reenactments; ie the flying rocks. The fact that it is shared in about the same location it all occurred. How cool. Stay safe. My prayers for you would be to NEVER encounter what you tell stories of. Your stories would stop. These encounters are real as I know someone who encounter such a being in the backwoods of KY. She’s a reliable witness. 🦍 Thank you sharing your gift with all your viewers.

Wow! Awesome that you went to the “scene of the crime.” Linking all of the experiences together to help explain it out. Best story yet! Absolute home run. I was waiting for some eye shine as you were flood lighting the trees- completely creeped out - I’m thinking about your safety. Heading out of there at night - extra creepy! So let me ask a question- these hunters - they’re limited on how much ammo they can have in their gun right? I’d be bringing my M-14 to something like this. I know it doesn’t make you bullet proof- but bringing a .308 with multiple 30 round magazines. I often wonder if a few warning shots would make it back off. Making noise works both ways. A few tracers into some trees might give it some second thoughts about the intimidation. Has anyone you’ve talked to say they scared it off?
