Wonderful job, I never knew of Stafford and i was a young boy when the Jean Miles issue was making headlines. Mr. Burroughs started out as a hero. When the nation needed a champion, he stepped up and did what was needed. That man could listen to the facts of a crime, identify the criminal who committed it and direct his men to where he could be located. However, humans could never be trusted with unchecked power. We always need a counterbalance to keep us on the straight and narrow. There came a time when no one challenged Mr. Burroughs and he strayed from his mandate. Some may argue that in his later years he did more harm than good. I think the lesson we could learn is absolute power should be afforded to no human, there should always an authority to hold one accountable.
Wow, that was a lot of history, brought back fun memories , yes I am that old, the British guy is new to me, I am frighten about the state of Trinidad, these days with all the shootings, dont know if I can go to my old area anymore, I really would love to, this was good. (Canada)
As always great info on our country's history. I never knew about Ms. Gene Miles and it sucks that for trying to do the right thing, resulted in her destructive demise. I believe the Ministry of Labour or the hundreds of thousands of Unions that we have here in T&T or something, should recognize her and highlight her bravery in an official capacity.
Seems like the definition of "infamous" has changed, for *"Gene* Miles" to be included, but *Michael X* to be excluded (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_X).
Why is Jean Miles on your list? She made headline news , because she was brave enough to expose wrong doing and corruption in high office . For that reasons politicisns at the time made her life hell. Therefore, what crime did she commit to make her notorious? Why are you sluring this womans name, when her only 'crime' was her bravery! May she rest in peace.
