Quick soy curl tip: just put the broth and dry soy curls in the pan and cook until liquid gone. It does the same as soaking, then cooking. 😉 I also love teriyaki soy curls in the air fryer when they have a few blackened spots. It's a cross between jerky and the teriyaki chicken they served at Asian buffets on skewers.
@@blackjetta530 When I do teriyaki ones, I soak in no chicken bouillon, poultry seasoning and boiling water. Then I squeeze out most of the liquid, not all, toss in teriyaki sauce, then air fry. I usually toss in a little more teriyaki after they're done. 😉
Mahalo - I gotta make some and bring it to my folks when I visit them in Hawaii and being that my family is half-Filipino we all love adobo - except, I'm the only vegan in my family. so this recipe is GREAT!
I tried soy curls for the first time last night. Took vegan chicken bouillon with black pepper to rehydrate the soy curls, then cooked in pan like you did, using the rehydration liquid instead of oil. Threw them in the air fryer and made a non-vegan, traditional fettuccine Alfredo. (just butter, garlic and parmesan). Then threw the soy curls in with the noodles at the last minute. My Fettucini Alfredo is amazing, but the soy curls were absolutely KILLER! I've been afraid I wouldn't like them but they are awesome! Do you have a vegan butter and parmesan substitute that you like? I can't wait to try these recipes!
I love tacos. So I would definitely use the soy curls to make asada tacos 🌮 😋♥️ However after watching the video I for sure want to try the Filipino barbecue pork!
Ahhh!! So excited for this giveaway and love you guys. I would love to try my hand at making the filipino barbecue recipe first! These all look so good 😍
Just made a beef and broccoli meal for my family using the soy curls. It is so delicious and no one could tell I didn't use meat. They all came and got seconds and even thirds!! I am so freaking excited right now. I have been trying to get them to go plant based for years and this has finally got them wanting to try. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Lol keep giving them vegan food that they won’t realize are vegan and than after a few months (or years if you want to go that far) tell them and see their reaction….
Omg I just bought these from Amazon! So glad for this video! Don’t knock the dried cranberries! My mom made a chicken salad with red grapes, red onions, chopped walnuts and cranberries. The dressing was very similar to yours but had some champagne vinegar!
I’m always so thankful for great soy curl recipes like these! We’ve been buying the 12lb box a few times a year for almost 10 years. My husband even gets his northeastern fried clams fix with them. 😁
I just made the Filipino BBQ. Today is a fasting day but I’m having people over tomorrow and started cooking today. OMG…….. no longer a fasting day and it is your fault😂. I’ve been using soy curls forever and agree it is under utilized in the vegan community considering it’s incredibly healthy. Adding the broth slowly is genius. So much more flavorful. Thank you thank you thank you❤
Finally someone who rehydrates and adds flavor at the same time! lol that's what I do. Idk why people rehydrate them in plain water and squeeze them out and then add the flavor. cut that work in half!
This is so exciting! My partner has missed having filipino barbecue since becoming vegan, so this is definitely the first recipe we'd try. Would love to get a chance to try soy curls and make these since soy curls are so hard to find!
OMG Cranberries, raisins or grapes are the bomb in a vegan chicken salad recipe. You should try them. Glad somebody is finally giving soy curls the credit they deserve.
This might be my favorite video of yours! I can’t wait to make the carne asada for my husband who’s a San Diego native. We recently moved out of Southern California, and I know he’s missing his Mexican food. Honestly though, I can’t wait to try them all! 🤤
I have also moved out of Southern California so obviously I need some amazing vegan taco recipes and ever since I've tried your carne asada tacos a year ago, I make them almost weekly. They're amazing and my fam can't get enough 😋
What a great video!! I have always thought soy curls are underutilized as I search through recipes. The texture is awesome and they absorb flavor just like tofu! I can't wait to try the adobo jerky 😳 wow! Also love Jasmine's apron!!
These look amazing! Seems like a bit wasteful to throw away all those lovely chunks of onions, orange rinds, jalapeno chunks, etc. I would love to toss all those marinade ingredients into a blender, then marinate the curls in that and cook with it. I bet it would be even more flavorful!
I’m seventh day Adventist and we soy curls a lot. We use them in soups and stews, tacos, etc for our potluck meals. I’m always looking for ways to make meals with them. We get them from Butler foods in the big box and keep them in the freezer next to the cashews.
Looks delicious! I especially like that it is vegan. I make vegan cooking videos too. I’m happy we can learn from each other! Please keep sharing and keep in touch!
@@AthynVixen most supermarkets don’t have them in UK but you can find them in like wholefood stores. I have sometimes seen them in Asda as well in the free from section.
Hello, Jasmin and Chris, I just stumbled into your channel and I am glad I did. I am 80% vegetarian. Your videos are very inspiring, keep making them, please. Best regards!
The taste and texture of the Filipino bbq blew me away! I would like to mince it and make burger patties out of it. Do you have any recommendations to keep it together? Mashed beans, chickpea flour, breadcrumbs…? Open to suggestions and thank you in advance 🙏.
Oh my goodness! I just made the chick-un salad and it is amazing! Next test will be the jerky after watching Sarah's Vegan kitchen version and re-watching yours. Thank you so much for sharing.
I made the Vegan Pork BBQ. I followed it to the tee except instead of the oyster sauce I used fish sauce. It looked amazing and it did caramelize but it was too salty to eat. What could have caused that because there is no added salt? I also used low sodium soy sauce. UPDATE: I asked my chef son and he said that it was caused by the fish sauce. I will be making it again (using Oyster sauce) because it did taste good under all that saltiness.
I really want to try the bbq recipe. I'll admit that I'm a non vegan but I've been watching you guys for a while now learning about the vast vegan cuisine out there and I think these recipes are a perfect foray into eating less meat and starting my journey into veganism. They feel approachable and familiar and not only that, they look delicious. If I can start small, by replacing a recipe I know and love (chicken salad) with an equally delicious if not better version with a more ethical culinary approach, then I know I can make a lasting change, even in this small way!
Fantastic idea, and good for you 👏 every journey starts with small steps lol… We need more people like you prepared to start the journey towards veganism, even if it’s only to reduce your meat and dairy impact. I love reading about people eating a ‘normal’ diet who are interested and willing to start out on it. I admire that. Been vegan for 7 years now, wish I’d done it 20 years before lol
I have never tried soy curls. But have seen videos that say they have to rinse them and squeeze them out several times to get the soy taste out. BEFORE flavoring them. What do you all think
I made the Carne Asada recipe for two non vegans and they loved it and so did I. I'm a vegatarian and was pleasantly surprised at how meaty and flavorful the recipe was. You now have me as a fan...thank you.
You guys are nuts! There is a whole world of flavor out there that you can experience by adding stuff like figs, dates, apples, raisins, crasins, preserved leamon. Take the red pill and expand your universe.
OMG. We just made the carne asada tacos tonight! Started the marinade process night before. Wow. amazing. I am also a So Cal girl and loved carne asada tacos before going vegan. Now that I am cruelty free, I love having this recipe on hand to share with friends to spread the important message of eating plant based!
I’ve never tried soy curls but now I’m intrigued. I would try the chicken salad (with walnuts, apple & cranberries.. delish!) first & then the Filipino BBQ.
Omg!! I would love to win a bag of soy curls! The chicken salad sounds amazing, and I’d try that first. I love chick pea salad- and actually eat it every day for lunch, so soy curls sound like a great diverse change up!, pick me, pick me,,, please!!
Jasmine obviously did not grow up in the Midwest. In the Midwest, everything was turned into a "salad" with mayonnaise, carrots, celery and onion -- chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, canned salmon, marshmellows (gross) .... literally everything.
Hello! I love all the recipes, but I really want I make the jerky and the filipino BBQ. 😋 🤤. I have been looking for soy curls foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
Okay because of you guys, I'm gonna give soy curls another chance! I bought a huge bag about a year into becoming a vegan, but I just didn't have a clue as to how to make them taste good. Thank you for this video! I'm super excited to try!
Hey, I need these. I live in upstate NY and can't did these anywhere. I want to make the Pilipino 'street' meet. They all look delicious and copied your recipes. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wow! I'm very happy to subscribe to your channel 😍 I'm kind a beginner as vegan and I feel very well since I started (6 months) but it's hard for me to find nice, easy recipes.. I Love all your recipes but, my favorite i will say it's the chicken salad 😍😘 Thanks 🙏
Always so jealous about Butler soy curls because NONE of those available in Europe have such an awesome texture and shape - they are spongy and so uniformy shaped no one would be fooled into it being any type of meat ;P Moreover, I don't have any chicken-flavoured bullion available either :D Having said that, I am just making the most with what I can get/make so I will gladly test your Adobo or Carne Asada with some homemade seitan! . Anyways, sending you lots of love guys! Have a great week ahead!
Made the carne asada over the weekend…I’m going to have to try again…it was WAY salty and not shareable at all…not sure what I did wrong (I did leave out the jalapeño). Sigh, wish me luck on round 2?
Thank you for sharing all of these great recipes. Soy Curls are not available where I live. They look amazing. The sandwich is definitely something I want to try. I'm always looking for lunch recipes to pack for work.
Love soy curls, thanks for the recipes; will be great for summer! You mentioned linking the banana ketchup, but I don't see it in the description field -- went to the recipes link, did a search and nothing came up...is it still available? Thanks!
Butler's website was down for a while haha, maybe this video makes many of us rush there to buy some ;P I tried their jerky before and liked its texture. Flavorwise tho, I can still (definitely) tell it's a soy product. I personally like the original soy flavor, so I don't mind much, but I won't see it as a "meat" product. But all these recipes of yours look so good I need to try them all!!!
thanks for the share - I've got soy curls, and I've tried a few recipes, including a jerky that ended up too dry - I'll be trying some of these out, definitely! :)
Thank y'all for this video!!! I will definitely look into this brand & hopefully get some soon because I've been dying to make some delicious tacos fajita style, similar to your recipe. All of these recipes look bomb 💣 😋 😍 😩
I will be making the chikn salad today cuz I have all the ingredients. FYI- if you have a Natural Grocer near you, they may have soy curls. Mine does and the price is great! I'm hoping for that I can make the other recipes without oil as I prefer not to eat it. Maybe I'll try aquafaba as a substitute... Anyway, loved these new to me ideas of how to use soy curls!
Excited to try the Filipino bbq! I used to be able to get these at a local store in Kentucky but now that I’m in PR, I can’t find the soy curls anywhere locally.
The first and only time I came across soy curls was, when visiting friends in another state, at a restaurant. I had a delicious noodle soup with soy curls in it. I couldn't find any when I got nack home. Thanks for the video! 😁
Please send me some soy curls. I’m a new person that is exploring the vegan journey this year as a way to supercharge my body and test how does it my body good. Paz y bendiciones
👉👉... Please let me help you. Before you marinate the Soy Curls.. just use water for 3 times. Soak, and squeeze out the water 3 times with a nut milk bag, just makes it easier trust me, when you get all that oil and soy wang oit of them they are TRUELY DELISHIOUS and you won't believe the flavor of them now. You don't need as much seasonings also because there is zero aftertaste. I have convinced many people to do this method and they are all amazed.. I Promise this will change everything about the way you think of soy curls .. And all that oily gook that comes out of them... save it in a large bowl, clear if you have one and be AMAZED or actually GROSSED OUT at what you have been eating. Anyway. Thanks for reading and I hope you will try it. 💝✌️
I've been wanting to try soy curls but didn't know what to do with them. All your recipes look good but I really want to try the carne asada. Thank you for your recipes
I've been trying to get my hands on those soy curls for the longest. I can't find them in stores. I only can get tvp. I would love to make the carne asada because I love tacos. I also would love to make the Filipino barbecue. That looked so bomb. 🤤😊
I would love to try it as carne asada 😋 you guys have the best vegan channel ever, so many new ideas! Jazmin you have the most gorgeous hair ever, so full, wavy/curly, is amazing.
I would love to get a package of soy curls. I am not sure where to get them here on the east coast in Boston or NYC. I have never heard of them before. Thanks for sharing this video and sharing your great recipes! I loved the first recipe the best because it seems the least work to prepare it. My 2nd favorite recipe that you shared is the vegan carne asada recipe. It looks very good and flavorful. I love cilantro, garlic and lime. I would like to know where you get these recipes from. Do you think Whole Foods or Trader Joes will carry them?
So I am not a fan of the soy flavor, in tofu or soy curls or whatever. What I've found is that rehydrating in hot broth, then squeezing out and then hydrating again with more of the end flavorings and squeezing again, gets rid of all of the soy flavor - probably the same as simmering it in the pan with the marinade. Then we fry it or cook it with other stuff with the final flavorings. Anyways, since doing a twice hydrating process, love the soy curls and find they come in so handy for so many recipes. Adds that extra texture that so many dishes need.
I literally typed in vegan chicken salad and this came up. I made it a long time ago and needed to refresh my memory. I have used soy curls before in broth, “Chicken” soup and they just had an interesting taste…. and it wasn’t my soup it was the curls. I want to win some 🙌🙌. Ohhhhh apparently I didn’t cook them right 😆🙏🫶
Thank you for the soy curl tip of soaking in broth! I haven’t cooked with it much but these recipes look great. Starting with the carne asada, then Chicken salad! After, of course, I can find them. Ordered online before.
We live in Nicaragua where we get ZERO Vegan stuff….no fake meats or cheeses, no Vegan Mayo or butter…only 1 place that sells tofu ! Hoping maybe we can find a few things in Managua…
Love your videos. I'm in the UK and live in a rural location, soy curls are not heard of here. I will definately seek them out on amazon. Thank you so much x
