I've had a 2006 std 105 series for about 12 yrs now, been everywhere with it including CSR, lap of Oz and many more tracks. Never worried about weights until recently when we have ordered a caravan. I decided to check the weight with a full tank of fuel (260l), water (60l) and the usual dual spare tyres drawers & fridge. I was 3.6t, 400kg over GVM. I found there was no post rego GVM upgrade for the 105 series through a suspension shop. From your previous video you mentioned Packard Automotive, and I paid them a visit. They are a one stop automotive engineering company with DOT accreditation. After parting with a lot of cash I now have a 4.2t GVM for the 105 series BTW, I understand that fuel modifications require a DOT inspection, I had my 170l sub tank fitted through Ultimate 4X4 who also have DOT accreditation Keep up the good work, its great to see what you have done with a similar vehicle
Cheers mate 👍 yep I love the 105 dont think I could ever sell or trade it, I want to finish everything I want to do to it first before I look at what weight it sits at, im tipping im going to need the 4.2T GVM anyway, Packard Automotive are a very handy company to know, ive got a few things I need certs for will get them all done next visit, want to try keep it all legal 👍
@@blissniques yeh I picked up a 105 series a couple of months ago. Been slowly getting stuff done in-between the rain. Good to see what others are doing with their rigs, gives me ideas.
@Brotherswalkingforveterans yeh nice 1, I reckon they're the last of the old school landcruisers, if only they put the 100 series motors in the 105's ha..
@@blissniques hahaha yeh I’ve said that heaps of times. “If only they put the V8 in the 105”. If they had of done that they wouldn’t have sold anymore 100 series. I’ve looked at the conversions, approx 35k for ls2 or Ls3 . Or 65k for a 7.4lt Duramax. If I had the coin I’d be very tempted. Would still be cheaper than buying a Chev, dodge, F Truck or a 300 series.
@Brotherswalkingforveterans yep completely agree id rather put the money into an older 4x4 than buy something new, can make an absolute weapon for same price as a standard new 1
Cruiser is coming along nicely mate. I've gone away from 270 personally. Just found that over time that you have less shade compared to standard 2.5m awning.
Yeh mate im starting to think the same, I liked our old 2.5 old school fold out/poles just it was a pain in thr ass in the wind to setup and put down, ive got my eyes on a free standing setup by 4wd destination only its pretty dam expensive for what it is, camp boss have just brought out a 2.5 x 2.5 freestanding as well, wouldnt mind checking it out, and price point isnt bad either
Cheers mate, yep the ever reliable 1FZ, err its definitely not economical lucky we only take it out when we're touring.. fully loaded and definitely not grandpa'ing it the old sub tank (45ltrs) would get 250kms on BP 95
Hey mate, there's a vinyl underlay that is stuck to the bonnet then a fair bit of 3M tape on the underside of the panel, stuck to the vinyl then black sikaflex around the edge to give it a nice finish, not going anywhere, and if you need to take it off for any reason, just need to peel the vinyl off with solar panel attached and paint will still be sweet.. cheers 🍻
