My personal hair growth success, I myself adhered to this daily regimen: Take morning sunshine every day for vitamin D. Eat vegetables of different colors. Using paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and massaging two times per week with hair oil by litttleextra cooconion. Important to keep in mind that hair growth is influenced by general health as well as circulation and nutrition.
@@MictheVegan Hey Mike you should check out this channel called Anti Vegan. The owner of the channel is this chick that calls herself 'tuesday'. She is spreading false information about veganism and vegans. You can tell she is just so butthurt over the vegan lifestyle/diet. I would love to see a video about you debunking her ridiculous claims. She thinks that all vegans will eventually go back to animal products and that veganism will never work for the planet.
Time stamps are not bad, but a bit overrated, and often not used by consumers of content that much, if I may speak from my own experience. I mean with Mike's straightforward vids that are usually below the 15 to 20 minute mark and cover just one topic they are not that necessary, I think. Creators of longer vids of 30 minutes and more with many subjects (like rating 24 contestants of a show one by one, or unpacking and showing 9 different products one after another) have a good reason to put time stamps for their fans for better structure and search in their video, jumping forward to your fav, etc. Which brings me to the idea that there's a void in the market for a "Stamper", an app that will time stamp your videos for you! LOL! Just my 2 cents. :)
He would if he started advocating *against* a vegan lifestyle. Drops mic (although not the the vegan version because he won’t advocate against a vegan lifestyle).
Adding a drop or two of rosemary oil to my shampoo and letting it sit for a couple minutes on my scalp twice a week has been a game changer. Although I'm not quite sure what caused me to lose 1/3 of my hair two years ago (likely hormonal) using rosemary - in addition to tea tree oil to help with oil production - improved my hair count and volume. Go plants!
hello, can you please tell me what kind of rosemary oil you use? and do you add a bit to the whole bottle or to the amount you would use to wash your hair? and what about tea tree oil? thank you
From what I've read about the rice water ferment, it's the inositol fraction that stimulates hair follicles? Inositol is water soluble, part of the B vitamin complex, and has also been used to combat some of the side effects of PCOS, of which male pattern alopecia is one. I would stay clear of rice bran oil, bc that's where the arsenic that rice preferentially absorbs is found, and being an oil, would not contain inositol. Just my two cents... 🌱
Good God. And with the way his face looks as well? He’s clearly got something going on. He needs to use all the filters like all the other RU-vidrs use!!
Hi, I was in my late fifties and had a Norwood 7 level type of hair loss, meaning slick bald on most of my scalp and diffuse thinning on all the rest of my head. Then about 9 months ago I started daily massaging of my scalp with topical caffeine, peppermint oil and Rosemary oil, as I saw some hair regrowth. But then I started using a Derma roller (at 1.5 mm length) on my scalp as this gave me even greater gains. With in the third month I started using topical finasteride with daily oral minoxidil at 2.5 Mg sublingually and I also started using a laser cap. I now believe that daily Derma rolling or micro needling is a must for the first 5 months when you start out, as I suspect that this must promote growth factors like small amounts of exosomes when you damage your hair follicles through micro needling or Derma rolling. After doing all of these things couple with a whole food plant based diet I have transitioned from a Norwood 7 to a Norwood 5 level. Which means I've got a nice amount of hair regrowth on my scalp and these new hairs are darker. Most people who are a Norwood 7 will not see any if little hair regrowth even if they are on the most aggressive forms of treatments. As I believe it's a whole food plant based diet that helped me be a better responder to all of this. Believe in yourself and you can do this, Garrick Quinones
@@guille8756 I do use RU58841 intermittently and for those that don't know it's an experimental nonsteroidal anti-androgen drug that's applied topically. That stops DHT right at the hair follicle. I also started using topical Dutasteride twice a month now.
@@cdtpal3061 You definitely can, but the speed and amount of hair regrowth will be limited to small thin vellus hairs. Think of it as stacking on these treatments and by doing so this can help the most. Although using just a derma roller or doing micro needling frequently with oils and Saw Palmetto can be visually good enough for some people. One of my concerns with oral drugs is how it will affect your gut biome in the long run as it pertains to our health.
I'm surprised you didn't talk about dermapen/dermaroller, seems to be a very effective treatment for hair loss and there have been very promising results showed in research.
Out here in Indonesia it’s candlenut oil+coconut oil to make our hair nice & lush. Aloe vera on the other has been used for years on our heads for growing hair. It works like a charm. I put some fresh aloe gel on my scalp during my chemotherapy and i didn’t lose as much hair as when i didn’t put any.
@@avataros111 thanks but his treatment is not available in this backward place. I mean seriously this place catch trend later than one catch a slow boat. Trendy food around here is still “good” cow’s milk is for growing bones🤣🤣🤣🤣along w/ its derivatives like yogurt & cheese. However out here we got plenty of alternative treatment of any disease w/ no scientific back up. Some works some don’t.
Thanks for the countinous effort you put into your RU-vid videos. I love that you cover such a wide spectrum of topics. I never thought that a random video about hair loss remedies could help me with my latest struggles beeing a vegan. Since I have to deal with some diffuse but persistant health problems (probably stress related), including phases of hair loss, I really questioned my vegan diet lately. As you have perfectly described in your "ex vegan exhale" video the possibility that you are causing your problems yourself by beeing vegan can cause a lot of extra stress. I even tried to incorporate some vegetarian products into my diet. Hated it. Gave up after one week. Just needed a reminder to better rely on facts and science instead of the subjective experience that non-vegans are generally doing better than me health wise (and otherwise). Myself beeing the only vegan I know personally. Oh. My doctor never suggested to change my diet btw... Hope you continue what your doing. ❤
omnivores aren't more healthy, people just don't go around advertising there health problems to everyone. Every aspect of there life worsens over time, not the least of which is poor joint health. Now I'm even seeing people in there late thirties and early forties dying from heart disease. Its sad(Standard American Diet)
I need to know how to use these practically like the rosemary extract, I can’t just put any lotion onto my scalp and hair… I want to know how to help myself
Mic, I don’t know about hair loss but wanted to mention that using “The Daily Dozen” vegan food guide along with some daily exercise has helped me lose quit a bit of weight in a rather short period of time. I don’t have an exact figure but it is maybe 20 pounds or more in about 2 months. Still have at least 10 more to lose and am being quite regimented in meeting the Daily Dozen goals which makes it PRACTICAL to be a Vegan. Thanks for your videos!
Yes let us know how the castor oil works out! I almost bought some recently, I wish I had. Thinning hair from PCOS I’m gonna try plant-based diet too :)
@@3005511 I don't understand how any oil added to shampoo can work. Shampoo is designed to strip oil from your hair and scalp. It makes more sense to add rosemary and castor oil to conditioner.
I've been using rosemary oil for a few months and my scalp is much less irritated, I assume I'll see the hair benefits once I've been using it long term.
Hey Mic! I just wanted to let you and your audience know, it’s a common misconception that baldness only comes from your mother’s side 0:58 - other factors are also in play. The hereditary factor is slightly more dominant on the mother’s side, but research suggests that men who have a bald father are far more likely to develop male pattern baldness than those who don't. It almost an even split in possibilities- No need to blame just our moms. 😊
Can attest this ia true, everyone on my mothers side has amazing hair, as did I, several years ago. I started losing hair at 23-24 and still ongoing (still no exact reason for this, despite tests).
We have two Rosemary bushes in our garden at home and we have to prune it regularly so my mum read that it helps hair loss so she used it throughout a year and managed to reduce her hair loss significantly that her hairstylist commented her much healthier hair. I’m experiencing some issues with my scalp so I’m gonna try it myself. 🤞🏻
@@jewlstah2010 First we wash Rosemary cuttings and cut them into smaller pieces. After that we submerge them into boiling water and leave them soaking for 24 hours, although I usally do it for just a couple of hours. After soaking we strain the infusion from Rosemary pieces and before using it we heat it up a bit so it’s warm. We use the infusion after washing hair by pouring it gradually onto scalp.
My hair splits less at the ends, since I started using rye flour+water as a shampoo. It removes a lot of the oils, but not all, letting the sebum cover your hair over time. This made my hair thicker and able to cope with the elements. It doesn't look greasy, just shiny and strong. There are many videos on this!
There is no vegan collagen. Not as a supplement anyway. There are vegan supps which may promote collagen production in our bodies. But in my opinion, they're not as good.
I've heard that the hair genetics from your mom's father is a myth. I guess you get it from both sides pretty much equally. Would like to know your thoughts!
The problem is that it’s not entirely true, but the maternal genetics can play an amplifying or reducing role, given that it’s a polygenic trait and parts of it can be inherited from both sides with particularly strong/known genes from the mother’s father.
@@machinegunhippy lol so does 'satan' go away when the hair comes back🤭? Also how does that work for Susan Smith or Jodie Arias who OBVIOUSLY accepted 👹when it got rid of its offspring yet STILL full head of hair?
@@machinegunhippy yeah, very scientific. When I accepted Satan I started losing my hair. No joke. So, it's either Satan or the plant-based diet. Christians and carnists know for sure. All based on science.
There's alot of research on peppermint and menthol, as well. Interestingly enough, menthol used to be a common ingredient in old-fashioned hair tonics. Another good plant ingredient is quinine, which used to be used in Victorian hair tonics, such as Eau de Quinine. It definitely has a stimulating effect on the scalp. Personally, I use Nizoral shampoo and Yanagiya hair tonic, a Japanese hair tonic that has menthol, ginseng, licorice, and several traditional medicine herbs. It seems to have slowed the rate of hair loss quite a bit.
My grandfather and my ex-husband both grew red beards and/or sideburns. Even though they didn’t have red hair. Neither of them was ever vegetarian or vegan. They both had Celtic ancestry, (Irish/Scottish). I’m sure the trait for the color of their beards came from their Celtic genes.
There is an herb used in India called Neem🌿 It can be gotten online or at brick & mortar stores that specialize in near and far east cuisine. That herb is wonderful as well for hair growth.
I took a one year holiday. Did some casual work to make some coin to support my holiday, lived in another country, away from everything I know, didn't have a phone, no internet connection, and focused on doing the stuff I enjoy doing... when I came back, my best friend was immediately surprised, my thinning hair had all grown back. Then I went back to the daily grind etc. of this life, and slowly it thinned out again. I never felt like I had any stress, but when on holiday a number of months is, I just felt SO relaxed and like so much stress that I didn't know was there just lifted off of me... I think it was the lack of stress that did it for me after considering all other possibilities.
I lost a lot of hair because of stress some years back. I used to treat my hair with henna a lot at the time. It made my hair thicker and fuller. It did eventually grow back, even though the stress never really went away as the situation that had originally caused it never got resolved. Maybe my body just got used to the stress. But the henna did help my hair quite a bit.
I learned about Stinging Nettle Root on one guy's RU-vid video and found there were a lot of studies on its effect to DHT. I bought a year's supply and am hoping to see some change.
Pls don't rehash the myth that baldness comes from your mom's dad. This just isn't correct. It makes you question the level of accuracy about all your info.
My entire family, especially my dad and all grandparents are strongly balding. I don't think with that genetic baggage, any of this would help, but still interesting
Me: *stressed about possibly losing hair* *so stressed I actually start losing hair* *gets more stressed!!!* Luckily I was able to get outta that cycle and everything has grown back in thanks god.
It definitely has its place, but within a reference range and it’s unlikely to be necessary in very high concentrations in terms of its downstream impact on localised areas such as the scalp. There are ways to mediate this without going into the realm of outright eliminating DHT conversion from the body.
Heres what i do....in a spray bottle 15 drops rosemary oil 8 drops peppermint oil 8 drops lavender oil ...mix to a sprayable concitencey with pumpkinseed oil...castor oil...olive oil ...and water...be sure to shake every use as oil and water dont mix...apply twice a week for 45 mins or over night..rince shampoo style as usual...a drop of rosemary in your conditioner is great as well.....if u can tolerate it rince hair in cold water it promotes blood flow and closes cuticle for shiner hair...also 3 or 4 times a week gently massage scalp for 10 mins ...
... the thing is, hair loss is a sign of ageing. And stopping hair loss could also help in a bigger picture with ageing, just a thought, especially because hormones are concerned. There are not many safe hornone controling natural compounds
By Rosemary what he means is both rosemary extract and rosemary essential oil. I suggest using both if you can on your head as a moisturizer. I dont think eating it or pouring the spice on your head will do as much
So funny, someone just commented on a video I recently uploaded "vegan men seem to have better hair than meat eating men." and I replied "probably more genetics" but then I saw this right after that, so I had to link to this video under her comment lol. He does have nice hair though: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AwoMDVJTEe0.html
As per usual, it seems clear you haven't even read the studies you quote. Yes, the Rosemary group was significant compared to baseline, but that difference was 7 hairs on average. SEVEN hairs. That's it. After 6 months. That's not a success. Any dermatologist would consider that a treatment failure. Claiming less scalp itching also is misleading based on the way the authors presented that data, seems just like an interaction fallacy.
I am currently experimenting with fermented rice water and also turmeric tea, to compare their respective benefits on hair growth. I did have some success with green tea back in the days, but I can’t have it anymore, it prevents me from sleeping… I ‘ll hit you back when I have my results 😉
Hi Logan, I read that greying & white hair is as a result of copper deficiency. I just read it in, "Dead doctors don't die". Now I am looking for a copper bracelet or copper supplement. Peace, love & health to you.🙏
@@johnthompson16 my current anti-grey hair recipe is one tablespoon of ground black sesame seeds, one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, one teaspoon of Amla powder, one quarter teaspoon of Camu Camu powder, all mixed together and eaten alone at some point in the day between meals.
I have PCOS, and after taking three cycles 😦 of Acutane for the hormonal acne, I lost a lot of hair. Then after two kids, lost more. I used Minoxidil in a women’s formula and after 3 months, it started to effect my vision. I’ve tried Rosemary and massage, with limited results. Finally started using a product called Vegamour, which stopped any excessive hair loss, and is regrowing hair around my hair line and crown. I’m very happy!
Regarding curcumin -- I find that really interesting. Of all the benefits I've read about it, I'd not heard of it being good for hair growth. I've been taking pure curcumin (not tumeric) for several years; and, I can testify that, for me, it has done zero for my hair. As for rosemary, years ago I read about it, and it was said that treating your hair with it is what works (and at high concentrations), so just washing with it isn't going to do much. It said that for some benefit, though, to use it in a hair rinse after the shampooing, and then to not rinse it off will help. Nice research!
Bought the rosemary oil and rice bran oil today! (Anything to keep the hair on my head) I trust Mic and his research. Question/statement: i was going to mix the rosemary oil and rice bran oil and leave it on over night, but not sure about levels/mixing these ingredients.
This is totally anecdotal, but it seems you're also showing the same pattern of non-male-pattern baldness. My maternal grandpa went bald by 27. Almost completely. I always expected I would too, but never really worried about it. However, I was raised vegetarian and went vegan at 35, and my hair at 43 is as thick, healthy and full as it ever was. I've always assumed it was the lack of testosterone consumption in my diet, which is a similar explanation given by Tony Wright for accelerated development and reduced brain function over the last 200,000 years in our species. I'd love to hear your take on both my hypothesis and that of Tony's if you've read "Return to the Brain of Eden." Thanks!
The algorithm is scary. I never searched for hair loss, yet RU-vid has been giving me repeat commercials that at first I thought was perfume but was actually anti hair breaking stuff. Then they recommend me this video out of all the videos you make. Been subscribed for a while but it's been a long time since RU-vid really pushed to recommended you to me. I probably said something recently but I honestly can't remember what or when. It's not something I ever talk about. 🤷♀️
It's easy to assume you won't have all the (potential) side effects of pharmaceuticals by using plants, but that's not true at all. Applying rosemary oil to your scalp can be very irritating (I speak from experience). Pharmaceuticals have had extensive testing, hence them knowing so many possible side effects. The only reason a bunch of stuff like that isn't listed for rosemary etc. is because it hasn't had a bunch of studies on it, and the FDA doesn't require side effects being listed on rosemary plants you see in people's yards or sprigs at the grocery store. I had no benefit with rosemary, clove and lavender using it over a year and eventually switched to minoxidil which worked much better.
Super cool information. I make my own solid shampoos and conditioners; swapping out my current oils (jojoba, tea tree, etc.) for other perfectly safe oils like rice bran and rosemary oil, seems at worst harmless, and at best may produce positive side effects to washing your hair.
Hey Mike! Can you do a video about plant based foods and vitiligo? I became vegan - whole food plant based - a year and a half ago, but two months ago I developed vitiligo. All my lab results are good so I was wondering if there is a specific nutrient missing or if there are some plants that are good for this condition. Thank you and keep up the amazing work you do!
Think about testing for nutrients like amino acids (Tyrosine, BCAA, etc), Vitamin B12, Folate, PABA, Copper, Iron,.. Besides predisposition, oxidative stress (Hydrogen peroxide buildup in skin) and some other factors, deficiency in these nutrients can aggrevate Vitiligo, as well as graying of hair.
@@moonietenshi You are welcome- I developed Vitiligo in a stressful time and also because of nutrient deficiencies that went hand in hand- since I have managed my nutrients, avoided most allergens und reduced stressors (a bit), the skin condition has stopped from getting worse- it even improved in a few spots :) good luck!
Rice water ferment for 3 you can put Rosemary oil the one's you like the rice water stank leave it in your hair for 1 week first try my side on both sides grow between 3 inches rice water have big molecules can't do I too much space it like every 2 week if you do it back to back your hair will come out it work but in time God Almighty 👑 bless you'll 😊👍♥️
How do we take the shame out of having more sex? Hair/No Hair meh; I just want more sex. Will rosemary oil or rice bran water help with that? I'm all for plant nutrition that fights inhibitors ...
Go oral... are we back on that in-the-bedroom scene? It would cancel out the *ahem*problem mentioned. At least for the person not experiencing said problem lol
I would also add to get your vitamin levels checks, especially for B12, vitamin D, and iron. thyroid checks are also important if are you having hair loss. keep in mind, losing up to 100-150 hairs a day is considered a normal amount of shedding.
I lost hair when breast feeding. It grow back when I stopped but my hair is fine. High carb Hannah use to use Jamaican black castor oil. I buy some but never used it. Lol thanks for sharing Mic. Your videos are always interesting.
Thanks. I remember reading some years ago about some promising research in Japan using immature green apple peel. Apparently it contains procyanidin B-2 which may work similarly to ECGC from green tea as they are both plant polyphenols. Apparently zinc is involved too and the largest amount is stored in the prostate gland. Zinc is known to attenuate the effects of 5 alpha reductase. Thanks again, that was very interesting!
