That was super epic Rachel ... spending your time on sample for ages absolutely paid off pretty damn well . so many cool variation and killer bass drop ... wooooo i love it !! .. big ups OG girl Rachel
This is the first sponsored section I’ve ever watched fully. You guys seem amazing and I will 100% be checking you guys out now. I’ve been looking for a site like this for so long.
So glad we got ocean's lowkey beat and then also tommy trash's fun like oldschool house. really covered the classic sampling with this kinda music! super fun episode!
I love how this is always a mutual appreciation show, no competition. Nevertheless, after hearing Rachel’s version I’d’ve asked for another crack at it. All great all around as usual, but what she did was inhuman extraterrestrial shift. Well done.
This is usually the world's greatest overproducing competition so I can appreciate Ocean's approach to keeping it simple. Rachel did do ridiculous things with that sample though.
IF there's something called overproducing, THEN there's also something called underproducing. While Rachel's track felt like the former, Ocean's beat felt like latter.
Nothing was overproduced. lol It would have made sense if you said Ocean's track was a bit underproduced. It couldn't compare to the other tracks imo in ways of creativity and quality. Not even close.
The contrast between EDM production and hip-hop production was quite staggering. But they work for their respective genres, both absolutely great. But Rachel made that sample sound so clean no matter how she used it. I’ll be studying her production and incorporate it as a hip-hop producer.
What a time to be alive… taking a song recorded in the 70s with analog gear, chopping it up, and slapping RC-20 on it to give it… that vintage feeling. 😅 Jokes aside, amazing series. It’s great to see the wildly different approaches producers have to these challenges.
well back when people started chopping 70s songs recoded with analog gear they did it using analog samplers, rc-20 gives that analog sampler vibe so...
Oh my god! You're actually sampling Sound Experience? I grew up listening to their songs on my aunt's cassette deck. Haven't even gotten to the sampling part of the video yet, so still very excited to see what you're doing with this.
When I saw the project for Ocean's, I got slightly disappointed since it was incredibly small, but all of my worries flew out the window when I heard the final product. Ocean is really good making chill music in general and this was no exception
Happy to see Rachel back on the series! I loved the microfreak episode. As someone who has been wondering about how to really make a song with samples, Rachel's overview was very helpful. Thank you all! Thanks Ocean for showing how to use Serato here too! I love all of the tracks. Good job everyone!
Loved them all! Loved Ocean's beats and chops, Rachel's compositional skills and acapella trick, Tommy's beat had energy, and Andrews sounded like something The Roots might've put together. Amazing!
tommy is the reason I got into production and sound design in the first place. sooooo fucking cool to see him interact with you guys and have him in this process. super dope video
Saw Rachel a couple of years ago now at an ableton live session in Sheffield, she really is the real deal! Great to see her killing it! Tommy & Ocean’s beats were actually class!
I like to watch the reactions before the breakdown, feels like i discover the tracks with them at the same time, then i get to understand how they are made after. Great content as always Andrew!!!
this one was so special for me. it was not just a combination of production and mixing technics but more than that, it sound for me like the emphasis was more on the taste than any thing else. and i must tell you all four producers did their thing on this one. it is tasty indeed !!!
Ocean's track gave me strong Avalanches vibes (which you'd think wouldn't be quite such a rare occurrence on a sample-focused series like this one!) A real Daft Punk feel to Tommy Trash's flip, as well! But Andrew's track has to be my favorite, great atmosphere
I have enjoyed this series so much. My son has gotten into music from watching your videos and especially this series as he learns so much from each person's perspective and how they hear and interpret the same sample. Thank you and keep up the great work!
The thing with these producers is, that they make the whole thing look so simple! But what they're producing in such short amount of time is testimony to the fact that they've spent a million HOURS trying to hone their skills!! As always, smashing episode on 4 Producers flip the sample.
Andrew slayed this remix, such a good sample to work with. I love Ocean but his beat was kind of a let down for me, I'm all for keeping it simple but that was just too rushed and could have taken it further. Love the series and mad respect to all of you!
I am shocked! This was so good, I can't get over it. It's late at night and I should go to bed but I can't stop staring at my screen and researching every producer you had on the show.
20:05 That's the transition I was looking for, great for a sample like that, don't get me wrong, everyone else's was great, but for the feel for the sample like that, it just gave me goosebumps and just fit perfectly!
Goosebumps! Man, I've never enjoyed a bus trip to work so much. I love how different all of these beats are, but they're all fantastic. I get so excited when I see a new video from this series 😄 great work to all of the producers!! Very inspiring 👌
this is a gooood episode!! covered every genre i've been listening to in one smooth sweep, everyone did amazingly - brownie points to rachel k collier for how much the track evolved without losing its vibe!
I've watched like all of these 4 producers, 1 sample videos and I dunno if anyone has suggested it, but a collab with some dance channels would be dope! Like a natural progression from sound to movement.
Phenomenal session as usual. I love the wide range of diverse talent this time around. Rachels stood out to me the most because her arrangement sounded dynamic.
This show is fucking awesome. I wonder though... How is Andrew's beat always my favorite? The competition is always so fierce like "you can't beat that..." but I'm always blown away at the end.
Finally a channel that shows the actual beat, i remember being so angry to another RU-vidr that was doing the same serie, he was constantly cutting the track out, so annoying.
I honestly feel like I learn so much more about sampling and how to develop the thought process for building tracks and making sounds and things of that nature from these types of videos than any tutorial available out there. Thank you so much for this series! It’s truly inspiring! And a lot of help! Also dope tracks to everyone in this!
Andrew killed his remix!! That's your strength man, that hip hop rnb chill bass stuff. So good!! Rachel, absolutely killed it. Just so good. Tommy, I've seen you live and I'm a fan haha knew it was gonna be sick!
I look forward to this series and come back to the videos all the time. A couple of these songs have become personal favorites and every episode is inspiring. Thanks!
I just wanna tell you how much I adore these episodes! Every damn time. All these tracks were soooo good. Different flavours but each one an absolute banger 💃🏽❤️
I've been jamming the Rachel K Collier mix of this for a few months, amazing to see it's a part of this series and the process that went into creating it.
Such great tracks. My favorite part of this series is just watching the different producers groove to each other's music. Always something to love and lift up. Bonus kitty grooving to Andrew's track.
I know it's Radiohead but I haven't listened to them in so many months that I don't know which song it's from anymore. I figured it out actually, It's from "Just" off of "The Bends"
oh my god these beats where actually so insanely fire. different vibes yet all go so hard its crazy i hope can produce music as good as this in the future!
