@swedenarmy4692 Me too. When they ask you about XYZ having to deal with relationships and I try my best to answer (which is never good enough btw) he tells me that asking him the same question is childish. Why didn't I ask it first, he'll say and since I didn't "ask him first" he feels asking the same thing of him is not worthy of him.considering, much dress answer it. I feel that since there are two of us in this relationship, each of us can snd likely will have different perceptions and feelings about a situation we're experiencing simultaneously. So why isn't knowing where they stand on thr issue they've asked me, why is that childish or immature? Needless to say we get nowhere, for 20+ years. No accountability whatsoever from him..

Yeah, well, my sister has ADHD and even if I tell her to stop and I address why she shouldn't do what she is doing she will deliberately tell me that she isn't going to stop. I understand that they sometimes don't realize that they are doing wrong; but I know there're also people like my sister, who even if sometimes don't realize that they are doing wrong, other you will tell them, they'll realize they are doing wrong and and they'll continue doing it on purpose. Even if she has ADHD, she's taking an active decision there; a decision that she knows is not the right one (because someone has explained her previously). 😔

Well done! 🙂 Seriously, you're rarer than you're giving yourself credit; most narcissists (malignant or not) simply *cannot* correct their toxic courses. I'd like to add a few more: not answering questions or being aggressively defensive when faced with evidence. Having the emotional spotlight at all times. Eg. A: You did that thing B(sarcastically): Oh yeah right, sure. A: I have evidence of you doing this thing repeatedly B: I'm honestly done talking to you, I don't have to respond to you, i don't have the energy, you always stir up problems, etc. B: you left this thing in a dirty spot, that's why I threw it with the garbage. A: what dirty spot? B(sarcastically): idk. A: hey, you dropped your coffe on my floor. I slipped on my way in, you should've cleaned it. B: I didn't, stop accusing me. A: you're the only one who drinks coffe in this household, you said you were going to take something from my room, I saw you walking in with the mug. B: you're right. I'm also the one who dropped your juice last week and walked in the room with dirty boots (all things A did and took responsibility of) I just always dirty up your room and poor you has to clean after me all the time. A: I can't help you cook today, I have a headache. B: yeah? Well I had a headache yesterday too buy I got up and did some chores. A. I already did some work today and my headache is not going away even after medication. B: oh poor you. So you're human and I'm not? You get to rest while having a headache and I don't? A: I'm sorry I didn't respond to your messages, I lost my pet and was in a bad place. B: well I lost a dear person last year too, I had it worse. It was a person not an animal. A: I'm honestly depressed, I need to check with a therapists. B: why would you be depressed? If anyone os allowed to be depressed then it should be me, I've had this and that happen. (Most of the time, A had far worse things happen but B would always exaggerate to seem like the strong survivor while A is just being whiney and irresponsible)

Basically, what you're describing in these scenarios is 1. not taking responsibility for one's actions and 2. treating other's problems like it's a competition in the 'who had a worse day/time/situation' stakes rather than empathising and/or comforting/helping. Yep, I know people like this unfortunately.

Sounds a lot like the GOP debate from last night...lol but these sorts of things can take place just about anywhere depending where 'our' minds are at - and that's exactly my whole point: a lot of stuff we believe to be 'meaningful', isn't always as meaningful as it seems - but a lot of it is subconscious. And as somebody who's introverted, socially awkward, and nerdy; I can say that it's normal to think these things especially when we're in 'overdrive'... these thought processes and mechanisms are intended to help us with our survival in order to make smarter and beneficial decisions.

I think another reason one may be self-absorbed is insecurity. I do this a lot as of late, to be honest. I’m so worried about what people think of me and what I hate about myself that I miss a number of times where I can tune in to others’ needs and what they’re saying. Not to say everyone who is insecure is self-absorbed, but rather that I personally need to learn how to handle my insecurities better.

Same here. I know that I'm very insecure and have days where i myself don't love myself enough. Sometimes I hate myself to the point where I sometimes don't believe my friends when they say they like hanging out with me; and they don't even do anything! When you don't like yourself it makes it harder to believe someone else could like you, because sometimes we humans don't always believe we deserve love or happiness.
@EmbraceTheStruggle24

@@PokidotGamer898I've been in that sort of phase, and recently I tend to second guess myself quite a bit - but we're still human and allowed to be okay with being imperfect every now and then. But never lose faith and never stop trying to be the best version of yourself.

Honestly I feel the same way. I'm so self absorbed because of my insecurities, I'm always dissecting myself, questioning and analyzing myself from others perspective all because I want people to like me... I hardly listen to the problems my friends want to confide in me about. I'm trying to change but honestly is it bad that it feels more of like a transaction? I hear you out then you hear me out? Is it bad that I don't put my feelings into the talk, I'm just doing it as some kind of duty? Does that count as mature or immature?

I spent my whole childhood trying to be mature and was often praised on my maturity. But I learned when i got older i wasnt as mature as I thought i was. Its something im working on but it also surprised me the amount of grown adults who acted like children over the stupidest shit like parking spots. I often find myself trying to avoid acting like certain people instead of having role models to follow. However I also have ADHD which might be where the impulsivity and emotional disregulation comes in but im handling that pretty well. I was able to keep myself from having a meltdown when i was feeling super overwhelmed the other day

Technically, this one is probably related to one of the listed items like “less self-reflection or bullying”, but I feel like projecting is a big one. I’d describe projecting as someone that always blames other people for most misfortunes they encounter, even though at the end of the day, it’s them in the wrong in a lot of these said situations because they always seem to rub people the wrong way and have that “my world view is 100% correct, how can I be the bad guy here?!”-mentality.

I had always known my ex was, perhaps, a little bit on the immature side…but, during the huge fight we had that led to our breakup, his emotional immaturity REALLY came out. I wanted so much to talk things out and get to a place of understanding, but all he could focus on was stating his argument and telling me how wrong I was. He lost his temper and started yelling at me, then refused to speak to me for weeks. I had never seen him so angry before. We had a disagreement on something really important, and I felt like he was really trying to badger me into thinking and feeling exactly what he thought and felt, and it almost felt like I was being punished for not bending to his will. Although he refused to answer my calls or texts, he occasionally left little jabs or cruel insults in my DM’s…very personal ones that he knew would hurt me deeply. I knew he was unable to handle the change in our dynamic (I went along with what he wanted most of the time, because I’m a people pleaser) and he just didn’t know how to handle his frustration. I had never realized just much rage he had kept underneath the surface.

There’s a good point but being immature is part of life, and there’s no shame or hiding that someone can love someone being that way, such as a child and a parent, but since this also refers to people older too, I feel like people are special in their own minds so it’s hard to change for others sometimes. People expect things to work so if you’re realizing your status of emotional capability as a human than you’re on the right track. Nothing is wrong with being a kid, or feeling like one because life nowadays can be rather boring and tough with how much fun it is just being yourself with or without people you enjoy being around.

I'm 11 and had a traumatic childhood bc of my dad was abusive. He left one day after yelling a lot. I don't know why but sometimes tbh whenever I'm stressed or someone yells I'll like just go out of it and just basically act like a little kid and sometimes just have full out breakdowns and scream. I don't know what this is called. Can I have some advice of what this is and why it happens guys?

Another sign of emotional immaturity is when someone is possessive of you in either a romantic relationship or friendship.😫

My friend is a narcissist and she thinks that everything she says and does is always the right thing to do, I tell her to respect others but she struggles with that as well, she’s really freaking me out because she and I are so different while she likes doing tiktok dances and putting on makeup I just like rewatching my favorite shows, I’d love talking to her about dolls but she finds no interest in that either, she’s a narcissist and I’m not, she’s homophobic, and I’m bi, we’re just to different from eachother and whenever I tell her she’s not always right she says that I’m being like her toxic ex friends and whenever I don’t please her, she sends me photos of her crying and emojis of crying, she plays with my feelings and calls it a prank, she said some pretty awful stuff to me and made it out to be a prank, she can be nice sometimes, but she’s most of the time REALLY mean, I’m afraid I’m gonna have to cut off our friendship because her and I have no similarities and she’s really toxic

Same. I already cut her off. Life is so much better without her. It wasn't easy especially when I still feel empathetic towards her. But it came to a point of me being mentally unwell, so I had to walk away for my own sake.

Hey, I have a question. If somebody was emotionally immature, would you have any tips or advice for them, or do you feel like it probably wouldn’t sink in and it would just go over their heads?

When it comes to the last point, my friend once in a blue moon come to me and tell me about her problems. But she would always point out how I never REALLY pay attention to anything she’s talking about. Which is kinda true…however, she can only talk to me about her feelings when she’s drunk and high. So it would go from a 10 min venting session about her shitty day at work to telling me I’m a horrible friend all the time throwing my stuff around my room 😐

He’s 55 and will never progress past 16 in mature years. It’s pathetic to watch. You can’t convince him otherwise. I ended the friendship today. I’m happier than I’ve been in years.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Despite what your parents might say about your condition, I think it's best to speak to someone who will not be dismissive about your current situation. I think speaking with a counselor or a mental health professional can be very helpful for you. And while our videos are aimed at helping people, because your situation is so specific, I highly encourage you to speak with someone so that they can get you the help you need. I hope this helps.

Fun fact: in the original book, _Charlie and the Chocolate Factory_, Veruca Salt wants one of the squirrels (trained to remove walnuts from their shells without breaking the nut). The squirrels were changed to geese laying golden eggs in the first film version, because it was impossible in the days before CGI to have squirrels carry out their actions as described in the book -- and all the geese had to do was sit in place. The second film version restored the squirrels to the story, and thanks to CGI they carried out their role in a manner quite faithful to the book -- one of the very few things in that second film version that was faithful to the book!

I want to call your attention to the fact that nothing is to good for YOU, no matter how great the thing may be, no matter how undeserving you may seem to be. You are entitled to the best there is, for it is your direct inheritance. So don't be afraid to ask, demand and take. The good things of the world are not the portion of any favored sons. They belong to all, but they come only to those who are wise enough to recognize that the good things are theirs by right, and who are sufficiently courageous to reach out for them.

After dealing with 30+ years of insecure, toxic, emotionally immature humans, I now realize that it's just the way 90% of them are "trained" (or have learned by default). The core issue is systemic, and it begins with parenting, environment, financial beginnings, early schooling, and so forth. Unfortunately, once an individual is 16+ years old, if they've learned a *throng* of terrible habits, trust me, they'll never change. That's why narcissists aren't able to be "repaired"; they're incorrigible, and will continue to cause collateral damage to everyone and everything until they die. Acceptance is key.

I am appalled. by one of my employees behavior yesterday, before explain, I am a manager of five engineers all guys one of them Howard is a bit risqué in our scrum meetings he sometimes does some unorthodox things, namely he leans left, or right in his chair and let out a fart totally unashamed. We just laugh at it and blow it off and move on but yesterday at a customer meeting Howard he’s 26 now and for perspective I’m 38 at the meeting yesterday he did the same thing. Oh my God, he leaned way to the the right and loudly and blatantly let out a stinky a fart all the people from the other company were a palled like I was they were senior people in their 40s and 50s and 60’ what happened reflects bad not just obviously for Howard but for me in the company I just can’t believe it. I can’t believe that Howard didn’t know the difference between the chummy small group meetings and a higher level important prominent company meeting between companies. Wow.
