Gossip is a sin that deserves a whole video of its own. The sin is so grevious and so easy to commit but most people just don't even think about what it is, talking about others faults just comes naturally to people. A greater focus on this sin would surely be a blessing to the whole Kingdom.

7:26 this is so true. I am a woman and have many male friends due to previous hobbies (martial arts and archery). I do send memes and check up on them. Around Christmas if we are in the same city and they don't have family or friends i invite them over and we have an "orphans Christmas dinner" and share food and catch up. A few ppl judged me for having many male friends but i care for them like a big sister and lusten and guide them if they are in a rough patch. I also try to greet and be warm to my neighbors wherever i live and maybe offer snacks or baking or help. I really hope more ppl start doing this. Its hard forcme at times i do have aspergers but with Christ I've been able to navigate social interactions much better and hoping Christ's love can shine through to people who need help ❤

The male friendships crisis is real. As a man it’s insanely difficult to make friends. Every time I try, people either ghost me or give me lame “I’m too busy” excuses. It doesn’t help that we live in a culture that utterly devalues male friendship in favor of sexual or romantic ones. Or casts suspicion on male friends being too close as “gay.”

I feel you bro. Not sure how old you are, but id recommend you join a sport, club, or some sort of semi-forced community. it gives you a chance hang out with the same guys every day that have something in common with you. thats how i was able to have good friends throughout high school that I've kept to today, mainly through sports. no clue how i woulda made it through high school without it. same goes in college too, but you need to genuinely put forth effort to make friends, especially in difficult majors and as someone who doesnt drink or party.

Same experience here. I really want to have a close platonic dude friend but when I reach out and try to connect with the few sort of shallow friends I have, they never get back to me or they say they have a bunch of stuff to do and don't have time. But I know it's because deep down they don't really want to invest me in, they have other priorities. If they really wanted to be friends they would make time. It's really hard to find a real friend and I've prayed for a long time with no result. I'm not giving up though

I was homeschooled and grew up in church, so all of my friends were Christian. I'm surrounded by very good friends who are my accountability party. It's thanks to several of those friends that I finally started dating this girl that I had been friends with in church for many years. And I have seen many people who maybe grew up in church who had been straying away from God and who were brought back to God by their friends. I love my youth group because of how much of a good community it is, we invite as many people as we can, and we have good talks about Theology and our relationship with God. I want to be a youth pastor someday, and I am seeing how kids nowadays need good friendships and community more than ever.

I think he's referring to giving into and giving special weight to wild speculation, especially when it causes unconfirmed slander towards someone. I think first and foremost a Christian should say what they know to be true and avoid spreading things they are unsure of. The thing is, conspiracies are real. A conspiracy is a group of people conspiring to do something, typically something illegal. We know for a fact that this happens all the time so to simply not talk about it is unwise. For example, Epstein was absolutely involved in some shady business and the handling of the case by the authorities just makes that all the more obvious, but to sit here and start naming celebrities that we think are involved would probably be wrong and a pointless endeavor. Other conspiracies that should not be given weight are ones like saying lizard people control the government lol other ridiculous things like that, coupled with someone hearing that you're a Christian is liable to make them think you're just prone to believing ridiculous and fanciful things and that Christianity is just another one of the make-believe things you believe. If you remain grounded in solid truth, that too will be associated with your grounding in Christ.

It should be said that enabling someone’s abuse of you is not right because you are essentially supporting them in their sin. When Jesus talked about giving someone your cloak and walking an extra mile I think he was talking about showing your enemies radical love so as to touch their hearts and lead them to repent. We also have a general duty to protect ourselves. Christians shouldn’t be doormats. It’s a matter of prudence when to let people take advantage of us or not but holiness certainly doesn’t necessitate weakness. Forgiveness is primarily a spiritual and psychological act. It’s doesn’t require us to remain in contact with our enemies

Yeah, for real though, I've seen so many people that I probably could've been good friends with but I just didn't think friendships mattered enough to break out of my comfort zone to make them. It is definitely important to be intentional about making friends and being friendly because otherwise you won't have bery many, if any. "Forgive everyone no matter what" being stretched to "let people take advantage of you" is one of the things that made me fall away from Christianity for a bit. It isn't Biblical. Christ was dealing with Pharasees that wanted to execute theives and prostitutes, that context is important when discussing things like "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" or "if someone robs you give them even more stuff". The point of the first was "How do you know she's a hooker? You are her clientele." and the later is "Your earthly possessions don't matter enough for you to hunt down and vigilante this theif" If someone never pays back their debts to you, especially when they could, it is alright for you to stop giving them money. Most importantly If someone attacks you you CAN defend yourself. The Jesus Freak movement that arose out of the hippies has done a lot of damage to modern Christianity.

"Conspiracy theories are unchristian" because of gnosticism? This doesn't make a lot of sense. Conspiracies are just part of understanding how the world works. By that logic, any knowledge only held by a minority of people becomes "unchristian". Is being good at calculus, or being well-versed in some little-known aspect of history or metallurgy, "unchristian" and "gnostic"? EDIT: Look at it this way. Wwhat made gnosticism bad is the idea that there is secret knowledge related to salvation or spiritual matters. Knowledge about conspiracies is not like that, unless someone is explicitly claiming that you need knowledge of conspiracies in order to be saved. It's also not like "gossip", unless you think that pointing out what sociopathic corporations and corrupt governments are doing is "gossip".

I would say that if you have a problem with someone and you want advice for handling the situation, it's okay to mention them (preferably not by name, but it can be more productive to do so sometimes) to someone else who is wiser in these things than you and is someone you trust with this secret. Edit: just make sure you get that advice. One thing I am concerned with is how many RU-vid channels are devoted to speaking of drama or controversy. I'm worried that it can easily become gossip or cause gossip.

you have to be a certain type of person for southerners to be nice to you. if you’re the wrong kind of brown, the wrong religion, or the wrong gender or sexuality, you do NOT get nice treatment in the small towns

(This might sound like I'm trying to incite a radical response, or like I'm trying to enflame someone from this questions, so just read with sincerity please) So according to this view of constantly forgiving people( as it seems to have been defined here) what do you do about people in horrible situations, like a woman who is getting rap3d continuously, should she just continue to let someone take advantage of her or not. I'm just curious as to where this interpretation of the continual forgiveness cuts off and turns into forgive them, but separate yourself from them.

@junothepeasant Месяц назад
RZ mentioned this in the video from what I can remember. He talks about "active threats" and how being friends or showing forgiveness doesn't necessarily mean allowing such active threats to befall upon you. 5:54 sort of relates to this. There's also the Christian concept of justice. Justice still plays a hand in these situations, even though Christians are commanded to forgive. That's why Christians should forgive, say, a criminal who wronged them, but that criminal is still going to face the consequences of what they did, such as being imprisoned or paying a fine. For your example, that rapist will still get their due punishment, even if the woman forgives their oppressor. And I don't say this to make it seem like radical forgiveness is a fact in life or that it's easy to do. It definitely isn't easy, like in your example. I definitely would struggle to forgive someone who violated a woman close to me, such as a friend or mother, and I know it probably would be hard for them as well. Hope this helps.

@@junothepeasant i don’t get how it would be moral or good for someone to forgive their rapist. ive heard stories of so many victims being told to forgive when they go to a church member looking for help. can’t imagine the emotional turmoil that would come with trying to forgive someone who hurt you in such an awful way. i have a hard time understanding why forgiveness would be a virtue because of that. it takes pressure off the abuser and puts it on the victim. i genuinely don’t understand why christians would value it
@junothepeasant
@junothepeasant Месяц назад
@@babs_babs Well I need to clarify again, by Christians being called to radical forgiveness and mercy, it does not mean they forsake justice. The rapist will get their due punishment and the consequence of their action. So no, the pressure is not off the abuser, especially if the church follows fast to its teaching of rebuking, disciplining, and isolating an unrepentant sinner like a rapist. On the personal level though: This forgiveness is not just a virtue, but also a response to how God is willing to forgive humanity despite their continual rejection and betrayal of him (now, we might disagree God exists, I'm not here to argue that right now. But I'm setting this up because this is extremely crucial to the Christian perspective of why forgiveness is so important. Without it, the radical forgiveness makes no sense). It's not just the church saying "forgiveness give you points in morality" but that Christians must forgive because the Lord has forgiven them first. See the parable of the debtor servant. This doesn't mean the solution to the rape victim's problems is only forgiveness. The church community needs to support the victim through emotional turmoil. It can't call a sister who was violate to forgive if it can't take care of that sister. Despite the main point being that Christians are to forgive because the Lord forgives them first, I think forgiveness can bear practical and positive results: 1. It may be a factor in helping a victim be able to rise above the despair and emotional turmoil. 2. Romans 12:20. Such radical forgiveness (love) "heaps burning coals" upon the person who wronged them. 3. Forgiving can have positive impact to people around them. I'm reminded of the story Sara Weaver (from the family that was the focal point of the Ruby Ridge incident in America). Her mother was shot by a federal agent sniper during the siege, and her brother was also shot by a federal agent. Despite this, after the siege had ended and she went through years of emotional trauma and PTSD, she grew to forgive the federal government and those who had caused her such trauma, and began to tell stories of the incident in a way to promote peace and to try to prevent more of these incidents from happening. I don't write all of this as if it's all easy. To quote my first response to KadenGreen (the OP): "And I don't say this to make it seem like radical forgiveness is a fact in life or that it's easy to do. It definitely isn't easy, like in your example. I definitely would struggle to forgive someone who violated a woman close to me, such as a friend or mother, and I know it probably would be hard for them as well." And in addition, I can definitely understand it would be hard for someone to forgive if they were raped, or if they were robbed, or if they were attacked, or if they were insulted and their reputation was lost, or if a close one was murdered. It's not an easy command. But Christ does call those who follow him to carry their crosses like he did, and this may be one of them. A cross is a very heavy and painful thing to carry at times. And just in case, to reiterate, the rapist is not off the hook. Christian morality and justice says that rapist will get their due reward, whether it be from secular authorities, or the punishment from above if the rapist has no genuine and changing repentance. I think some churches are so heavily focused on a very fleeting version of Jesus' love, and forgets the very firm statements he made about judgement upon evil doers. There are also some churches who are very hard and cold and so committed about judgement that they forget Jesus' preaching of love and forgiveness to enemies and sinners, even though their sins are still abhorrent and bad. Jesus' forgiveness doesn't stop condemning evildoers, but invites them to turn from the ways that destroy themselves and others, and to turn to a new life of repentance and cleansing. I apologize for the long message, but I hope this may further your understanding of this forgiveness.

I made most of the christian friends i've had online, but its for that reason I stopped and kind of fell off (there were other reasons to) dont get me wrong, having a christian friend group was some of the best times i've had in my life, but it came at a cost of being critically online. It came to a point where i was literally just waking up some mornings to hop on a game with my christian friends which was nice and all, but I felt I couldnt do anything on my own it was always be with my christian friend group. add that with the fact we mainly socalized on discord or played games like together while preaching the gospel in random games which usually ended in debates and arguments. I felt burned out. thats why I cant stress enough find christian friends in REAL LIFE and not just online. the online christian community is just different in a weird way...

Yep. Zoomer has also talked about it in a video of his explaining larping. Depending on what Denomination you follow has its own problems. For example "orthobros" online pose as gigachads, mascular, strong and lonely. Whereas, if you actually show up in a church you will see some skinny and not that physically strong adolescents and too few people actually aged up until 25. It is best when you live as a Christian. As much as you can that is... God bless you.
