25 years RN no regrets soon I wii be getting ready to retire . To all the future nurses get to financial literacy it’s sad to see nurses doing jobs they longer enjoy because they didn’t plan for retirement . Retirement starts on the first day on the job .

Congratulations! I graduated 15 years ago and I still sometimes am amazed that I got through nursing school and passed everything, lol. Good luck with your career. Mine has taken me in so many different directions, and I love that about nursing :) So many options!

@@monicamac2122 Thank you for the encouraging words! Right now I'm working on a med surg / tele unit because I figured it would be a great place to start out and learn the ropes. It's been really good so far. I'd like to eventually work in a cardiac ICU when I'm more experienced, but who knows what the future may hold!

I can attest to #2. Don’t give up! I started out pre-nursing after high school and gave up because I was overwhelmed. Now 12 years later I’m going back after realizing the major I switched to did nothing for me. I wish I would’ve stuck it out back then!

I just graduated from my ADN program in May, and I agree with you 100%! I was an EMT for 8 years before nursing school, and it still tested my limits in ways I did not anticipate. However, I perservered, and I now have a rewarding career to look forward to that will enable me to take care of my family financially too. Nursing school is so worth it!

Wow I needed to hear this . I'm currently trying to finish up my prerequisites and that not easy but I know it will be worth it in the end.

I wish I had known before starting nursing school was to apply for every loan out there…Because working and going to school without a financial support system was hard.

First of all, thank you for being there during my program back in 2017. For me, I wish I would have researched the schools a bit better. The first school I attended would not reveal their retention rates. Come to find out, they were graduating only 12-14 students from a class of 63. Another red flag was the instructors - they just could not keep them either. I quit after successfully completing my first semester and luckily got enrolled in a different school. Just as hard but I felt much happier. I wish we had Magnet Schools, as we do hospitals to hold them accountable. At the age of 63, I am working at one of our country's best hospital and now enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. I am not nearly as stressed or find it as difficult or challenging as nursing school. Later, I plan to teach at a nursing school. I had doubts as well when I was in nursing school. I questioned my worth, my age, whether I could complete the program, and if it was all worth it. It is! Keep going.

Thank you so much! I am an older nursing student as well, and sometimes I wonder if I am crazy to be attempting this change at this time in my life. According to my math, you were 57 in nursing school; I am 61. But it helps to know that it was worth it for you, and feeling this way is normal for everyone.

One thing all nurses need to know is that you don't have to limit yourself and your life to just being a registered nurse. With the way things are in nursing, I truly understand why someone would walk away. So this message is to say that neither I or YOU are limited to just being a nurse. Your skill set could land you a high paying job outside of nursing or a consultant job. Don't be limited if don't want to. You do not have to!!!!

I'm so anxious about entering nursing school, I'm scared and doubting myself if I can ever do this. I mean I really want it, but I don't think my skills and knowledge are enough.
@Can_1111
@Can_1111 Год назад
@pinkplumeria I know exactly how you feel, I have doubted myself so many times but I recently did a summer program for a CNA and trust me I feel so blessed and so confident that if I can do that I can do anything ♥️👩🏻‍⚕️. Taking care of someone else that isn’t your family it so humbling and honorable. I know you’re going to be great hang in there and enjoy the process.

If you got accepted to nursing school, you HAVE the brains to do it. The skills and knowledge will come, that is what they will teach you. The best thing I did was working as a carer in the community because it gave me some basic skills that really helped me with my nursing. Also gave me a bit of an income, which I needed. You will be fine! Be organised, make friends and take full advantage of study groups, peer support etc etc. Just immerse yourself in the experience, it is amazing. And worth it! I have faith in you :)

You will be amazed at what you can handle! I have 4 kids 2 of them are toddlers and work part time (20hrs/wk) and in nursing school. I'm about to finisb my 1st quarter and it's been quite the journey so far! These tips from nurse Sarah are spot on! A planner is key! I never used a planner in my prerequisites but in nursing school and having a job and children, it has helped me not forget assignments and not forget about family time and friends. YOU CAN DO THIS! good luck on your journey! ❤

Second year nursing student here. I’ve been having doubts if I really want to pursue this. I’ve been an MA for 15 years and have enjoyed helping people, but I’ve been feeling discouraged because of the intensity of these courses! But I will try my best to think positive and push through.

Hi Sarah! Great and interesting channel 👍. A question off topic. You have really wonderful long hair! I have long hair myself. At work, you probably wear your great hair up most of the time or in a bun style. Can you make a style video with some suggestions? Also in combination with a mask? Thanks in advance and best regards 😊

@@nattygsbord could it be because nurses are so over worked, abused, and treated like a second class citizen by administration and Board members who get paid literally by such work force? I am one of a million of Registered Nurses whose voice are suppressed by hospital administration and Board Members. We fight for the patient's rights believe it or not. We're burnt out because we don't get support from our own nursing manager, admins, and the public for which we fight for better care. I do work with other nurses who "eat their youngs" as the saying goes in nursing, but don't judge all to be like them. If all nurses go on strike for a week, Healthcare industry, especially the sick will suffer greatly. Please value whatever nurses you've got left in the field. I quit 4th of July because I've had enough of getting floated to other nursing floors whose patient population is not my specialty. That's why medical-surgical (med-surg) floors are separated by their specialty. That's why you hear nurses making mistakes because of trying to make do with the assignments they're given. You don't see or hear a cardiologist treating someone with cancer, or a cardiac surgeon operating on an ortho patient; do you? Why is nursing treated differently? Is it because we go above and beyond our duties so that no patient is without a nurse eventhough nurse-patient ratio has passed beyond the safe ratio? You bet, but that's a double edge sword for us nurses. You all in public have no idea what nurses do to keep you all safe, and includes having to quit a position one has worked hard to achieve because of unsafe situations. Of course administration doesn't think so. If it isn't then why do they lower patient ratio on a nurse assigned to a "VIP"? 3 or 4 patients to 1 RN instead of the usual 6 to 7? Is that fair to the other patients?
