I talked to an interior architect and he told me the same things about the details. He said he talked with clients about their life style and their overall style and design every single detail.
Am 17yrs and am almost taking courses and I think interior design is into me but I have doubts since my mom keep telling me to think about what I would want. Thanks, video is now useful and collecting tips for interior design.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve really been lost in what to do with myself because I’m currently in school for dental hygiene due to the pressure I felt from my family. But my passion and joy is in interior designing and decorating. Just watching this video just gave me so much joy. I’ve just been scared to make that change but I don’t want to look back and regret not picking what I love. ❤
@@aandreatru Is a bachelor's (BFA) in interior design mandatory or would I be fine with the two-year program(AAS). What do you recommend would make companies want to hire me in the future
I literally have the same story as you haha. I was also Doing dental hygiene due to pressure from parents but then I ended up changing to interior design. It’s been fun
In my country in Ethiopia There is no Interior design degree program, There is only Architecture, I started architecture in campus, but dropped out when I was an intern, Its been 9 years and I am now a great assistant in 3D visualization for the local interior designers.
am 16 years and was really confused between choosing architecture or interior designing. u really taught me a lot and cleared up my confusion. i will be going for interior designing now.
im glad you mentioned the architecture thing. im 17, in a few months i will have to choose a university and take exams, and everyone keeps saying i should choose architecture so i can be more skilled later on. but architecture is just not for me, but i know for sure interior designing and decorating is what i love. i have very little time left to make a final decision, and i dont want to regret my choice later on. i would want to take courses about interior design and learn that way, but i feel like its a risky thing so im just very confused atp.
You should always listen to yourself. There are so many possible ways your life could go and this is a very important decision, but your so young and if you end up in interior design, thinking omg that’s not the right fit for me, you could still choose sth different. But if you only listen to the others, you’ll never know what your dream would look like and you could end up thinking back and regretting not trying interior design. Yes you could end up regretting choosing interior design over architecture, but in my opinion that’s a better way than the other one because then you listened to yourself. Other people always think rationally and weigh all options, because it’s not their dream … it’s yours! Your life, your decisions and you will have to live with the outcome of the situation. Our life consists of emotional decisions, not rational ones and it will always be that way. I’m kind of in a similar situation and my father keeps telling me that interior design isn’t the right study, it should be architecture, and he thinks he knows more about it than me, because he has friends that are working in architecture. But I’m the one who’s obsessed with this area … I hope I could inspire you a bit and show you that your not alone, and I hope you’ll find your way and make the best decision for yourself
Same happened to me I studied science in high school because i thought architecture was better than interior design, i ended up dropping architecture after 2 years because i felt so lost... now I study Interior Design in the University. I recommend you to look for Universities maybe outside of your country, there are plenty of university that offers online BA now and it's much more cheaper than US universities. Also don't feel pressure, sometimes taking time to think is the best, now I would have waited at least a year to make any decission... life changes a lot when you finish high school, good luck! :))
@@l11-bq9gsI'm sorry if I'm asking more than I should, but may I know what university you're studying in rn? I wanna enter into the interior designing field but I don't know where should I go or which uni is going to be good both in education and in budget. And can you share what you studied before entering into this field? Like what subjects should one focus on in high-school to become an interior designer?
This is really common and it happens to so many people, they feel the pressure from family that architecture is best, if it doesn’t interest you I would say don’t do it, it’s a though career and you need to have passion or you will suffer, if interior design is your passion I would still go for it, hope that helps
I really do agree with the architecture part. I wanted to study interior design but because of the people around constantly telling me that I should go with architecture instead, I went with it… And now I find myself losing interest and confidence in my design abilities as I constantly fall into the small details that I love about interior design, but for architecture at uni it’s the bigger picture that’s more important. So moral of the story do what interests you and follow what your heart is telling you! 3:44
@@aandreatru im thinking about going into interior design and architecture, like getting a degree in both ? I’m not sure if this is ok though but both interest me and I think it would create more opportunities for me ? I’m not sure
Hi!! I'm planning on doing visual arts as a college course, and as I was researching about it I found that you could also be an interior designer with that degree, but I feel like there's more to it than that, given the fact that there's WAY much more to interior design than what visual arts has to offer.
it was really useful this video cause I was having this career to get started .. but thanks for your explnation I realized that is not my ground ... I am a creative person, I am an artist ... thank u !!
This helped out so much for me being a 12-year-old going on to 13, Wanting to learn more about this specific career in life. Many people don't have this type of information that you gave me, which helps out a lot. This information took so much off my shoulders, and I feel better to move on. So, I just want to take you so so so much for this helpful information❤❤❤
I really didn’t realize how special interior design is until I watched your video 🤯 that’s amazing! Now I want to learn more about the process of learning this craft.
Great video! Thank you so much!!! It’s the best video which is really helpful to make a decision about being an interior designer or not. Personally, I found myself more interested in interior decorating. Thank you again! Your videos about design are the best!!!
So, basically, as an interior design, you are going to get projects or assignments about relocating some spaces, demolition, and changing the floor plans and concepts. That's what an interior designer does, am I right? As an interior decorator, you help the client in terms of selecting, "Let's say," final pieces or accessories " that will go with what the client wants. It doesn't include any floor plan or anything. Just select pieces of furniture for the client. Without demolition or changing any floor plans. Just choose the right furniture, that's it. Am I right about the two? Or I am completely wrong?
Yes, you got it right :))) decorators do help with layout configuration, so this could be called as partial space planning but nothing that involves changing walls and structure, more like organizing how the furniture is placed in the rooms
i am grateful that i came across this video and i feel relieved that there are peole that i can also relate to since i am that situation where ppl tell architecture is wayy better to study than interior design . 🎉🎉 im definitely more encouraged by the video , thank you 😊
I am 13 years old turning 14 really soon and I always wanted to be a interior designer since I was 8 and now that I am now starting to study this job this is a lot of help learning about the job and learning what I would be studying
Your Video is so helpfull. I wish I saw it sooner because i was told to study architecture and now i am dropping out to study interior design. Don't let anyone tell you what to do!!
Thank you so much for your advice !! I just finish my exam and I've been thinking what course should i choose when i go to university . I like decorations , drawing and accounting so it's pretty hard for me to choose which course i wanna learn when I go to university . I'm scared if I choose the course that i dont like and regret for it. Thank you so much for this video , it really helps me a lot.
I’m wanting to become an interior designer when I graduate but I’m concerned about the amount of chemical exposure due to what is used to make furniture. Does anyone have any tips for lessening the exposure?
I love interior design even all of the work on CAD and all of the permit stuff. I did a lot of construction specifically cement trench work and framing. Now learning real estate and always wanted to go into interior design. Loved these tips thank you!!!
Your videos have been so helpful and I’ve been binging them the past two days so thank you for your content! But as a side bar, the color red/orange you’re wearing looks so good on you!
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve been studying arquitecture for a year and I’ve just realized I like interior design way more! Also, where did you study? 😄
Hi there, I was also unsure whether to study architecture or interior design, both are really nice careers in my opinion, but now that I am interior designer I don’t regret it, I love the career, I studied in BCIT in Vancouver, Canada. Good luck with your studies!
I have a communication degree and I am pivoting to become an interior designer this year (studying Diploma). I think my communications skills will be very useful and transferable in my new career☺️
Thank you so much for this information! I am wanting to get into interior design somehow. If I am not ready just yet to go back to school full time, what are some classes I could take to help me assist interior designers to move forward in the field and build experience in the field?
Hi, Is interior design related to garden and green space design? Is there a connection between these two specializations, and can an interior designer work as a garden designer ?
Hi I'm thinking about pursuing an Interior Design course but I'm not sure which course should I take. Like there are BSc , B.Des and BA in Interior Design . So can you please tell me which course should I pursue so that later I can do a Master in Interior Design and can Study Abroad . And btw I'm from India . Please Help me Miss
Hello I have a question! If interior design isn't a course I can study can I study interior architect and than later transition to a interior designer? Will having a degree in interior architecture or just architect in general increase my chances of getting hired by a good company/firm even if I don't have a degree or license in interior design?
Great question, a degree in interior architecture will definitely be the closest to an interior design program, in fact some interior design programs like the one I studied focused very much in interior architecture as well. As for working, I have heard that architects sometimes work in interior design firms but it really depends on the company, some companies like to have in-house architects while others only hire them when they need them to collaborate on projects. Reality is that some times designers are not licensed to do certain parts of the job, and architects are, so we do work closely with them for some projects. Hope that answers your question✨
I ve seen many successful designers that took one two and three year programs so I would say yes you can😁 it all depends on your effort and willingness to learn and immerse yourself in the world of design✨
There are interior decorators who decoate spaces and industrial or product designers who design things and objects, and furniture designers design furniture :)
im currently in highschool and i despise math(im barely passing) but i rlly want to be an interior designer and ive heard that it requires a lot of math. basic geometry and allat is pretty fine with me but im not sure if thats all there is. however, im rlly good at drawing (almost considered going to an art uni but i realized it might make me hate the one thing i still like and passionately do). what intrigues me most is interior DECORATING and working with various textures but a lot of places require an entire interior design degree. is there a lot of math in ur opinion? and do u think someone that is almost failing math in highschool is able to study interior designing without growing hate for it half way through bc it perhaps requires too much math?
Hi there, I actually made a video explaining what type of math you will need as a designer. You can watch here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPBwgOL2adI.htmlsi=qVGmdv5VttjvC_uF But answering your question. It’s basic math so I would not worry about it. We don’t really do complicated math at all! But take a look at the video to understand how math is involved :)
i would recommend starting out in the architecture and then switching to interior if u dont like the arch since architecture is typically more competitive and its hard to switch into that major
I really appreciate and thank you so so much and spending your quality time by making this video for us and iam a freshmen and its really hard to find a field which is suitable and after looking at your informative video thank you so much and its really useful for me because surely iam in a confusion thanks alot andrea and i have started a dream of an Interior designer ❤
I'm a first year university History major trying to switch to Interior Design as designing been my passion for as long as I can remember; I even took an interior design course that my high school offered like 6 years ago which got me even more invested in it. Watching this video helped me a lot. First of all, i didnt actually know that Interior Design and Interior Decorating were two different things, but that was fine because I love both of those things and will likely study both. I am also a huge architecture fan and am debating whether or not to do a masters in Architecture after my undergrad in Interior Design (many of our university's I.D students go on to master in Architecture). Thank you for this video. It helped me get clarity into what I will be studying, and it honestly made me even more excited for my future!
does interior designer doing also the details of the cabinet? like the structure of it like how it's going to make?, or you just giving the contractor the Idea of the design and the finish, the structure will be up to him?
Am studying interior design don't really don't understand program like archicad can you do a video for floor plan using archicad from scratch would really appreciate it would help me alot ..
I loved your videos and they are motivating me to be in this field but I've this slightly confusion that right now I'm in India and I'm studying interiors designing course and after completing that I'm gonna move to Canada and have this doubt that there would I need to do study about this or get degree there, but I don't wanna do any degree so I'm confuse that what would be the process there .. please help me out ..
Hi, here in Canada you need some sort of education if you want to work here (most of the times). There are two-year programs that you can study and you can be elegible for a lot of firms as not all companies ask for a degree but they typically ask for a Diploma. Hope that helps✨
I think that depends where you live, in Canada is hard to get a job without formal education but other countries do not require it so it’s hard to say. Some people are self taught, and other have degrees so anything is possible if it works for you and for your circumstances :)
heyy just like you I'm not a techy person and I'm really anxious to go for interior designing coz wat if I just can't cope up with the tech skills which others have, can u tell me more Abt how hard it is and if it will be possible for me to learn and handle stuffs while studying interior designing
I am not techy and I have learned many softwares, I think everything can be learned if you put the work, also if you have good teachers for software it does help :)
Hii mam Thank you for these types of vlogs I want to ask with you that mam 4 years degree is best for interior designer or 2 year diploma is best or 3 year diploma is best.., please reply me soon 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏....i have no mentor because of your advice i will gonna to take decision.....hope you will reply soon🙏 Love vlogs from Mumbai ( india )
Depends on your goals, but a four year degree would give you the most preparation. But not everyone that works out there studied a four year program so I would say all options are good but it depends what you are more comfortable with and how much time you want to dedicate to your studies :)
Hi! The programs that I use the most are autocad, sketchup and revit. But I have also used InDesign to make portfolios and sometimes Canva for design presentations. Hope that helps ✨
I want to be an interior designer but i am a boy and alot of people keep saying that interior design is not for men but men but for women so is interior design for women i want to hear it from an actual interior designer and do we have partners to work together in a project or is it a solo thing i have alot of questions but i will not ask for now
That should not stop you! In fact some designers that I most admire are men! Normally you work with other people in projects, unless you decide to have your own firm then it’s up to you.
Hello, how are you? Hope you are doing well. Don’t listen to other people just ignore them because it’s wrong right now. I’m studying interior design and no one stopped me because this is my dream because I want this job in the future one of the best career so what are you doing, go ahead and study interior design at university or at Institute something like that it’s up to you if you need any help just contact me wishing you all the best
I have been determined to study interior design and have been taking Tech and CAD classes in high school. I’ve graduated and I’m still determined to do so but my mom has got me worried about finding a job so it’s got me second guessing. Any tips ?
Wow that’s great you have taken courses already, it will give you an advantage :) job opportunities vary depending where you live so I would recommend you to do research on that in your country :)
her eyes are damm man....touchwood ☺💗best example of beauty with brain...new subcriber love from India ...and i feel i do not why but i feel that she is like crying in video when the architecture school topic comes ....i felt ....btw i wish all the good blessings to you my sister from my bottom of the heart
That’s a great question, we have clases in design theory, lighting, space planning, softwares, residential vs commercial design, sustainability, materials, etc. I will actually soon make a video of all the subjects that I have taken to become an interior designer, stay tuned!!✨
I can't draw, but the faculties in the country (Romania) where I want to study require an entrance exam, where I have to draw. Could you tell me, if you know, in which countries in Europe this is not required ? I would greatly appreciate it!!
Hi there, this depends on each school so I wouldn’t be able to tell you which universities don’t have this requirement. However in my entry exam we also had to draw and at the time I also didn’t quite know very well, but I don’t think it’s a big thing to worry about, because normally that is just one part of the examen and they look at other requirements as well. Plus most programs will have classes where you will actually learn how to sketch/draw. Hope that helps✨
I think I doesn't really matter what subjects u pick because it isn't directly connected to getting a job it would give u knowledge but that's it I recommend taking math or physics or art and design or something in that league
Love u Anddrea. I want to go to Canada to pursue Diploma in Interior Design. I am from Bangladesh. will you tell me some college name where scholarship is provided to foreign student to study Diploma in Interior Design ?
Great video! Hey I am 17 yrs old and I have taken humanities as my stream I just wanted to ask can I do interior designing as I was very interested in doing that I heard somewhere that you can do interior designing only when you have taken commerce
