@@gruunt4064 Yes the key point in your attitude is clear, the NHS is purely run and operated as a healthcare system on the basis of "need" whereas your attitude is it should be run as an efficient business. @@gruunt4064 I'm a Brit in UK, unsure about the arrogant elitist claims, but agree with rest of your points about the NHS. You cannot critique the NHS if in public life here, it is almost treated like a cult by most who are politically to the left. Apparently, we are told funnily enough, by the NHS and its supporters, that the NHS provides great value for British taxpayers. I do know however, that a few EU states provide better healthcare outcomes (which is afterall the overall aim of a healthcare service) such as Germany. One point though, this is a video about UK from an American, if it were a video about Germany from an American, I'm sure those too would mention their health service too, and those who replied would praise it.

The food reputation in the U.K. is undeserved. It was born when American GI’s were stationed here during WW2. They’d come from a land of plenty to a war ravaged nation that had been struggling alone for years where everything was rationed and basic and most things we take for granted now, didn’t even exist due to the war. My father tasted his first banana almost two years after the war ended. We have a very old culture and that means we have our own cuisine. Most of it can be found in recipe books (one of my favourites is ‘rabbit in the dairy’) and the various meat pies and puddings are exceptional. There are so many regional cheeses and dishes and it’s worth remembering that in the USA, most cheese is processed, (even in a can) and is simply called “blue” or “Hispanic”. The U.K., , has cheeses in the hundreds. The most popular, Cheddar, comes from Cheddar in Somerset and practically every single part of the U.K. have their own regionally organically produced and I’m not being bias when I say that it tastes tastes better. Any American visitor will also noticed that eggs aren’t refrigerated. That’s because in the states, they’re bleach washed which removes the protective membrane from the shell that protects it from bacteria. The eggs in the U.K. actually taste better for not being processed. . Just like immigrants gave the USA pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers etc, from the empire poured into Britain, spices and dishes that intermingled with the indigenous cuisine to make a very rich and varied food culture. Today, the U.K. have some of the worlds top chefs. Every Gastro pub in the U.K. will have a curried dish on the menu at some point, even if it’s a british invented coronation dish. But the best place to try fish and chips is in a northern fishing town where the fish is off the boat that same day and the batter is beer batter and it’s fried in dripping.

Hello, I live in Cheshire, the home of Cheshire cheese. The way you talked about fish and chips almost made me pop down room the local chippy to buy some for my tea.😊 I hope you enjoy living here and that we Brits always show you our good side. We can be a sour, complaining bunch sometimes, especially at bus stops and especially in wet, cold weather.😁

As a Brit, it's refreshing to watch a video from a foreigner living here who doesn't treat the experience as a list of amazing discoveries which shock them. Glad you like it here; although Britain doesn't have a great reputation for food there's good stuff around and it looks like you've found some.
