I'm not sure it was a joke so here's my two cents: - Going to Mass / praying the rosary together is awesome! It's a great way to grow together in faith. - I think he meant the whole thing (maximum time). You're not supposed to spend 1hr30min having a conversation lol. With my bf, a lunch date (one of the best ones) takes abt 45 minutes, sometimes even less. When we pray the chaplet and then hang around a bit later, the whole thing doesn't last more than one hour at the most. I guess, since the Mass usually already takes up some time in which you don't really interact (at least, aren't supposed to), if you guys go grab something to eat afterwards, then it would kinda make it for a proper date duration.
I'm bummed because the man I was dating mostly talked about his hobbies and I wanted to get into deep topics about God and his relationship with him...... I feel like I'll never find someone who'll bring me to eternal life. And the guy wasn't even bad either, he just doesn't seem as serious about Catholicism like I am, and I want someone on the same level as me.
I know it's difficult but don't give up! Join more Catholic groups at parishes and if there isn't one you can start one. For me I'm joining a young adult group at a Catholic Church so I can meet someone who practices the faith and we can have more deep conversations. I wanted to give up but I won't meet anyone that way. Praying for you ❤
If you’re a man in college, don’t dare at all. Get out as quickly as you can with as little debt as possible. Dating is a distraction. I just saved you 7 minutes, you’re welcome.
As it takes an average of 12 years to become a doctor, ( 4 years undergrad, 4 years medical school and at least 4 more as a resident ) granted you will earn some money in those last four years but if you are trying to set up a home you will need to start using that money to set things up so you can support yourself and start a family so at a minimum you will still not be in any position to marry until the age of 30. Given this , do you have any advice for an 18 yr old in relation to dating who is starting such studies. If they cannot marry for such a long time it would appear to be pointless to start to date untill they are perhaps 10 years down this path because surely if you did meet somebody you actually liked and thought yes ' marriage material 'and then 'dated ' for 10 years is rather absurd. But waiting for so long without exploring dating life might leave somebody a little socially undeveloped in relating to the opposite sex yet dating without a sincere or realistic goal of marrying within a reasonably shorter timeframe seems dishonest..., any advice ?
This is the third time I've tried to post a reply. They keep disappearing so I will be brief. If you have spent your 20's on education and starting a career, and have remained a faithful Catholic with everything that implies, and emerge in your late 20's or early 30's ready to begin the search for a like-minded Catholic spouse, you will find that parishes no longer provide the social opportunities to help make that happen. So we have very very few Church weddings any more and our parishes are collapsing. I wish I had an answer for you but I really don't.

Well yes I know that , but a person cannot dictate when and where they would meet a future spouse, I guess the problem emerges in that waiting so long and having to being mindful that any friendships you have with members of the opposite sex must be treated like a priest would approach them in order to indicate you are not in the 'dating/ courting space ' ( because you have such a long path in front of you before you could properly date with the aim of marriage and setting up home ) leaves a man ( not destined for religious life) somewhat stunted when it comes to the time to look to marriage. I'm not looking for an out here or anything but am I wrong in thinking this is a very conflicted and difficult path , not to mention , I already have to pass on the years I am biologically designed to enjoy and desire the marital act the most ? It seems so and is a bitter cup to face , it hard not to feel very down about. Perhaps medicine is not for me at all. Something leading to a livelihood a lot sooner might fit my tempermental disposition a lot better....
@@adventureinallthings I suppose it depends on whether you are truly serious about your studies and career. In my case I very much was, and I did not put any priority on dating. I finished my schooling at age 28 and patted myself on the back for not hooking up or sleeping around to that point and said OK, let's go find a "nice Catholic girl". But I didn't know any, I didn't have any Catholic friends to help me meet any, and the local parishes did not have any opportunities to help me find any Catholic friends. That was over 25 years ago. I said well, surely my day will come... but it never did. Many single Catholic men have had this experience. So let this be a caution to you. You may well want to make dating in your 20's more of a priority.
@@larrymelman Food for thought 🤔As a side note, I would never restrict myself to just ' a nice Catholic girl ' if some of my family had never married a non Catholic I would not even exist in the first place. I just don't think a career in medicine or a similar career with such a long 'take off time' might be for me. I think it might 'spoil me' in other ways .It might be suitable for others but if given a choice I see other options as a better solution.

You have an obligation to use your God-given talents in the best way possible. That takes priority over everything else. Please keep that in mind.
I just want someone the same religion as me who also hate the evil government that really hard because Catholics seem to bow down to the government. I am not the norm in my religion.
As a man I look for someone who is attractive to me who seems nice and feels right. But it's not easy because even on Catholic sites women want a man they are attracted to like that's the only thing that matters.

There are legitimate criticisms on how various sex abuse scandals have been handled and there is no excuse for those actions. But please don’t whitewash all priests in this way, there are so many priests/religious out there who care deeply for those they shepherd. There have always been broken people in the church, and they should be held accountable for all their actions, especially things like sex abuse and mismanagement. But I hope you can appreciate that there are so many good and caring priests out there as well who genuinely care for others.

You do know sex abuse is worse in public schools and protestant churches, right? Public school sex abuse is 100 times worse than Catholic priests, stats and math don't lie. Only people lie to themselves about the truth.
