Training team members to train newer team members has been key for us. As the new folk get the basics down, they get to show it to newer folk and that helps reinforce it for the teachers. Everyone gets, at least, base level knowledge of each Sunday morning tech role so we can stay flexible. Church life doesn't allow for people to only feel confident at one thing.

Very true and great advice! I’m a volunteer camera operator and also did the studio mix at times for Belmont Church in Nashville Tn. I also have been hired as camera operator for events there multiple times! A blessing! Thanks for the video!

Awesome man! Thanks for the feedback! Are you in Nashville? I'm in the area from time to time and would love to connect with more church tech people in that area

Striving to have a mindset that 'we are all always learning' has been a game changer. As I learn, I pass it to the more experienced team members (or they teach me what they've learned) and that info gets trickled down to the less experienced team members.

Great tip! It’s so important for especially volunteers that are willingly giving up their time to have this mindset. They’re not just giving their time and skill set, they’re but they’re benefiting from the experience as well. They can then take new skills and use them in the future

Great info, and helpful tips, Zach. The hardest part here at Bethel is getting people that are dedicated and dependable that will show up to cover when asked. I'm sure it's a common issue at a lot of churches. I would love to get the younger generation to ease into our media volunteers that would pick up on the tech better than us old guys. Thanks for your informative videos!

As a 43 yr old, 14 yr cam op, I hear ya. You have to find someone there passionate and motivated to do camera, especially on the creative shot mobile cameras.

Agree on all points! The very important thing for our team is the cross training in multiple positions. I rarely have people continually run the same spot. Keeping them moving around and fresh really helps me fill in empty spots when they arise. Also letting mistakes happen and using them as teaching moments. Perfection is not the goal.

Oh for sure! When you can move people around, you can usually always find someone to fill a spot.. even in a pinch!

Sir I have a question Do you need any experience to volunteer at church or a person can just go in
@ZachBrownMedia
@ZachBrownMedia Год назад
Experience is always welcome, but it's not necessary. We have a lot of young teens help us out, so we end up training them up with no prior experience with their positions.
