For me I always go into a race with three goals. If I accomplish any of the three, I'm grateful... #1) Don't get hurt #2) Hopefully, finish #3) If I do finish, finish strong Bad races are always hard on our self esteem. And sometimes, I even wonder why I race. But, I realize all races good or bad are learning opportunities. Bad races expose weaknesses in your training that you may not have been aware of while you were training...and so from that, it becomes an opportunity to improve your training, and then hopefully, when you race again, those areas you weren't strong in will be improved, and you'll get a result that rewards your efforts. And by the way, I'm not even half the runner you are...but, the fact that we're out there competing is already a huge accomplishment. And I'm always grateful for that.
