Milk is the number one factor when it comes to successful latte art. You have to pay special attention to it !

I’ve gotten better texture over the past while. But I noticed something recently. There’s one whole organic milk sold by Farm Boy that I can never get right. I steam it like I do with others and it always has this odd bubbling. Could it be that I’m just unlucky, or is there a difference between whole milk brands? I never run into this with others. I’ve even had better luck with oat milk. Thanks

@@Photosandfood Oh yes, some milk interacts strangely with the rise in temperature. I'm pretty sure you are familiar with proteins and how it can respond to certains kind of process. I guess this farm boy milk is just the way it is ! It reminds me of rice milk or coconut !!

When using a 4 hole steam head, I think the best placement of the steam tip is directly in the middle. Placing it in the side to make vortex is normally done for steam heads with less holes, which you see James Hoffmann and a lot of other baristas do.

Heres an easy way to know when its the right temp (for me at least) so keep fingers at the bottom of the jug to feel the heat once its too hot to keep your fingers on it then count to 6 and then turn it off. It always gets me to 65 every time

If i haven't a way to measure the temperature, is there a way i can feel the right temperature? Usually i try with this: if my hand can't stand the heat of the pitcher, it's ready. But it's an hypothetical way, i did read this tip once but actually i don't know if this is right...is there any other way to feel it?
@CoffeetoArt
@CoffeetoArt 7 месяцев назад
Hey mate. It's the right method if you dont have a thermometer, but your hand gets used to the heat. There's another method you can combine with the hand method, the sound. A milk burning with a steam wand will be a lower sound. You can hear it if you try. Try to pour the same amount of milk in your jug each time and start the timer. Stop when de sound change. It means you burned the milk. Substract 2-3 seconds for the right temperature. Please keep me in touch.
@CoffeetoArt
@CoffeetoArt 7 месяцев назад
Also, with a good espresso machine, for 250 ml of milk, the steam time should be around 13 - 14 seconds.
@lorenzapresti7329
@lorenzapresti7329 6 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for your time to answer me! Actually i don't think my espresso machine is high quality...i'd say it is medium/low...for example, my wand has one hole instead of 3/4 of a professional machine (like yours as i see i the video), so i noticed that the steam is less powerful in some way...i tried again these days and sometimes i got good foam, but unfortunately i still get bubbles in it...but the sound tip is very clever! I didn't actually tried to focus on that! Another thing is that the vortex in the milk is not so evident...but maybe it's because my wand has one hole :(@@CoffeetoArt

Can you hold the handle instead of the mug itself to make latte art? and how do you know how many seconds you're supposed to steam the milk for?
@tyteasdale9533
@tyteasdale9533 8 месяцев назад
I don't know the correct ways so don't take my word for it but as you steam the milk, you can feel it warm up, I've heard that you go until its painful then stop. For me I need to go a little less than that or else it burns but just going by feel is how me and two other people I know do it. A thermometer is possibly the only other way to do it since it varies in time depending on how strong the steam is coming out of the machine and such.
