Funny story. When my my boyfriend and I first moved in together my cat didn't exactly like him and he never had a cat. Then one day he called me panicing that there was something wrong with her and her eyes where weird. I've been using Jackson's tips for a couple of years and I've been able to tame down FERAL cats with this in order to save their lives! To date I've saved SIXTY CATS! So a huge Thank You to Jackson for helping me with one of my proudest achievements! When a wild cat allowed me to pet her for the first time it was after I had been practicing the slow blink for 2 weeks and she came closer and closer. Then when I had my hand out she crossed the last few inches and bunted my hand, as she realised it felt nice to get scratched behind her ears, and started purring, I cried like a baby, lol. It's really wonderful to connect with an animal.

My 7yr old all black female cat, Lilly has always loved rubbing her nose / forehead underneath my hand and wrist. When she does it she closes her eyes.... when they open she is always looking straight at me and purring. We are extremely close..... For a year I've been doing "hi, I love you, how you doin'?" few times a day just because she started it so I did it back and it went from there. But it really is a special language - I found out that not long after I got her we started having this way of communicating really well on our own terms and it's like when kids were inventing their secret language so no one could understand what they are saying to each other.

I've been blinking to my cats since I learned about this, and they blink back at me. The fun thing is, I do it so many times, I've started to unconsciously blink *at people* as well.

Thank you for your lessons. My cat demonstrates that she knows 101 words and/or phrases. I have been trying to learn her language and am trying to teach her mine. I use the techniques that were used to teach KoKo the gorilla sign language. Koko knew the words "bird" and "water" and when KoKo first saw a duck, she signed "water bird". My cat knows "paw" and "cheek" and when she heard me say the words "paw cheek", she rubbed her cheek with her paw. No I did not make any movements for her to copy. I recommend anyone who wants to teach (not train) a cat use consistent words/phrases in a calm voice. Repeat often and reward with petting, not treats. Simplify the number of words by using "box" for all rectangular or square items (boxes, drawers, closets). She can count to three. Crows can count to seven, so Muffin should be able to count to seven. We're working on it.

I just did it to one of my cats that was over a table, ten feets away and she jumped and runned towards me to cuddle with me. OMF!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!

I love how you mention getting permission from the cat to stroke it. People look at me strangely when I say their animal had just given me permission, dogs do the same. We would be annoyed if people just came up to us and touch us especially when we have only just met. well animals are no different.

I'm known as the cat whisperer around my area and I was basically raised by a cat. I've been unknowingly doing this for years and my friends find it weird but no cat has ever turned me down for the cuddles.

The "how you doin' love you" works wonders on my cat. When I do that she usually comes running to me, tail upright, mrowing all the time, head bumping for cuddle. It is the cutest thing. When she is in a bad mood though, she just stares at me like "you blind or what? You aint getting MY attention today"...she is the best! i had a cat for years and done a few of these things just from learning over the years without thinking about it, it's like my cat taught me.

Did that to my cat, who was abused.... she ACTUALLY let me touch her! She is opening up to me, and still cannot be touched very often, but this is a start!

Honestly---been following Jackson for a few years and these things TOTALLY work. My boy can be aggressive when life throws him curves (and never has been his fault), but these things work. Every time I do the "I love you" slow blink, he will do it back. And after 2 or three times he comes and crawls onto me, purring and head butting. He will want me to rub our heads together for a moment, will give me a kiss, and lay in my lap. Seriously. Whatever he is doing he will stop and come over for "loves" whenever I slow blink at him. I love my boy and I love Jackson for helping me to communicate better with him!!!♥️

Thank you so much for telling us about the "How Ya Doin'" Honestly, I thought I was imagining it! I do that when greeting my cat, actually saying it as I make the motion. Then I noticed that cats I don't know would greet me that way as well. So much fun!

It is so funny, I kind of always knew it, the love blinking, the how you doing, the permission. Cats really like me, even street stray cats. One day my cat came to me and started meowing worried. I told my family that another cat entered the house. And i was right, I totally could understand my cats by the way they would communicate to me.

My cat was sleeping on me and woke him up and blank slowly. He did the same and then he putted his paw on my face. Then with the both paws he do something like a hug! :D

I work Maintenance and you would not believe how this has helped me. Going into someones home and i see a cat and they are scared and nervous with me entering without there owner around i have used this and later when i return there cat will come to me while i am working on whatever and lay close to me until i have an opportunity to say hello. it is Amazing that there "asshole cat" shows me love and affection with scratch marks all over the owner. I have been asked how i do it. my response is always "love your cat they way they want not the way you want"

Everytime im about to pet my cat to greet him when i get home, i say "hey fluffy!, i love you, hi baby" in a smooth voice. He then approaches me and stares at me, so then i present my hand slowly, he rubs his face on it, then i pet his head. Then i kneel down and say "come here baby, can i have a kissy?" And i close my eyes a little and put my face close (but not pressed on) to his face. If he's in a good mood he'll give me 1 or several nose boops and rubs his face on my face. If he's not in a great mood he'll give me a quick nose boop and meow. Usually its because he's thirsty or needs more food :) always build trust with your cat

I watched the show years ago and learned this trick. Last November we went to a shelter to adopt our cat. We were almost leaving with lots of doubts when I saw this shy ginger boy hiding in the far back of his cubicle. I leaned down and blinked just like Jackson teaches. I did that 3 times. He then blinked back and came all the way to the front 🧡 He's with us since then and last Sunday he completed his first birthday 🧡

I am a photographer, I went to cat shelter to help taking rescued cats beautiful photos as a volunteer , hope to speed up their chances to find home... I have never greeted a massive number of cats, but I used your blink techniques, I took my time, they seldom hissed me but allowed me to take them good portraits. And I heard half of them got a new home just after the photo release. Thx Jackson and I need to learn and to try to greet them by hand next time when I will become a regular volunteering visit there. My cats communicate several things to me They have the "feed me" blink, and the "feed me" meow, and the "feed me" paw tap and toe bite when I'm asleep in the morning, and the "feed me" leg blockade if I dare go in a direction other than the food dishes, the "feed me" jump on the TV stand and threaten to put their paws on the LED TV screen and drag them down the screen if I don't get up off the couch, and the "feed me" knock things off tables if I ignore all the other "feed me" signals.

So if cats go nose to nose, it is a good thing if my cat goes nose to nose with me when I get in bed at night? She is such a sweety.

I was at a friends house and I tried the cat I love you. I think I did it too fast but Sadie “my friends cat” lol blinked back and I felt so cool because I was like omg I communicated with this amazing animal!! Also another friend of mine has two cats Oreo and Susie. I still haven’t been able to get too close to Oreo. my auntie has a cat that randomly turned up on her door step and moved in with her. the cat has been living with her for at least five years now. we have absolutely no idea where this cat came from. it did however appear days after my grandmother passing away. (my aunties mum). maybe some spiritual goings on with the cats appearance. the cat is somewhat reluctant to let anybody other than my auntie stroke it or go anywhere near it. I am a really big big cat lover. always have been. I have some kind of natural understanding with most cats. my aunties cat was upstairs laying on her bed when I went to see it. I crouched down to be on the same level as the cat. didn't want to stand over and scare it. I gently blink my eyes as Jackson says. I slowly reach my hand out in order for the cat to get a smell and an idea of who I am and that I am friendly. within seconds the cat moves forward and rubs her head all over my hand before rolling over and allowing me to give her some much needed stroking and tickling. my aunt could not believe that it allowed me into her comfort zone. apparently everyone else gets denied and is bitten or scratched. the eye blinking thing I had originally read about in the early 2000's. I've been doing the slow blink with my cat for many years. We communicate with it all the time: Saying hi, calming her down when there is a loud noise, inviting her for a couddle... once you get the hang of it, it is honestly one of the best ways to talk to your cat.

Omg I finally found a channel that loves cats as much as I do. The love and knowledge you have for the most amazing species to ever walk this earth, including humans, brought tears to my eyes. Jackson you’re the best. I’ve been following you for some time. I had to take moms former feral into my home after she moved into a new place where he wasn’t accepted. I really expected to be shredded he was not open to anyone but her. I had to be patient and pray I would not lose too much blood. Your techniques are a success we now share trusting time together. We installed a portable mesh door on his room and slowly he is gaining interest in my mojo kitty pack. I’m hoping soon he will have enough confidence to be able to explore the rest of the house. My brother has a cat named Lucca, who isn't mean, but she isn't very affectionate except for with my brother and my sister in law. I started doing this blinking thing with her everytime I go over and she actually likes me a lot now and let's me pet her all the time. :)

It really works. I got a cat from the shelter and when I took him out of the carrier, he bit me. HARD! I had to get away from him. My first thought was to beat the hell out of him. But I didn't. I went back to the room, where I had left him and he bowed up at me and hissed. I sat down and just started slowly blinking at him and I dropped my hand down loosely. I blinked about 3 times and then I felt his head brush my hand. I thought, DAMN, that shit works. I had the most amazing experience at the zoo. A huge white male lion gave me the "I love you " blink and bow TWICE!!! My fiancé saw it too. We were completely in awe! My favourite way to love blink at my cats is to, weird as it sounds, blink *upwards*. Keeping your brows unfurrowed, but squinting mostly with your cheek muscles so your lower eyelids come up to meet your top lids. Looks very similar to what cats do, which is blinking mostly with their cheeks when relaxed.
