Fifty-two years ago, my new wife and I loaded our 1963 Dodge Dart with borrowed camping gear and went on our honeymoon in the UP. This video brought back so many memories that you literally made me cry. I lost her five years ago and, when I go, our ashes will be scattered together from Grand Portal Port in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Thank you and remember to live every moment as though it might be your last. Words of wisdom from a 75 year old traveler.

As a native Michigander and a property owner in the UP i think the Michigan Tourism counsel should pay you HUGE dollars and feature this video on their Pure Michigan campaign. What a great job you two did on this video !! Your always welcome to have a private, free, level gravel spot to park on at my 10 acre piece of UP heaven, no electric but fresh clean cold water very close by.

As a former Yooper myself, you are living up to the typical stereotype. I mean that in a good way. I thought everyone was like us until I had to start working all over the Country. I now reside on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Southern hospitality does exist, but it's nothing like the genuine kindness you experience in the U.P.

I cover 14 states throughout the Midwest for my job, and in no other state do I see more out of state license plates than here in Michigan -- it's not even close. In many parts of west MI in the summer, it's normal for 20% or more of the vehicles on the roads to be from out of state. After traveling around in other states, it's obvious why people want to come here to vacation. The variety of scenery and natural resources is unmatched, and the number and quality of waterways (ponds, streams, rivers, inland lakes and great lakes) is mind boggling. Many of my Indiana and Ohio customers vacation in MI annually, but I don't know a single MI customer that leaves MI to vacation in any other midwest state. Keep up the great work with sharing your travel experiences -- really enjoyable!!

The UP is wild & free. It is big!! The UP can encompass 4 ( of the smaller) New England states. Weather is unpredictable. The UP lies NORTH!! BRING warm clothes( even in Summer). Do not expect cell phone service. There may not be coffee shops, gas stations or other "take for granted" amenities. It is remote. Do expect friendly people, gorgeous scenery, wonderful parks, first rate hiking, very good fishing & tons of history.

My mother was born and raised in South Marquette on Division Street. I was born and raised in New Mexico. I fell in love with the UP in 1971 when Mom went to her 20th high school reunion. I swam in the same rock quarry she did, met tons of family and loved Lake Superior. In 1973 after I graduated from high school my Mom, Dad, and brothers moved to Marquette, sans me as I attended college in NM. Christmas and Summer breaks were WONDERFUL. Today my 43 year old son and I are going to make my Great Aunt's famous Pasties ( a long-standing family tradition) just as she made them for me in 1971. Thanks for taking me back to Marquette and the UP.

Just FYI - Marquette is home to Northern Michigan University and is not affiliated with the University of Michigan. Secondly, Michigan Tech University is the name of the school in Houghton, Mi. (MIT is in Massachusetts). Otherwise, this video is very well done. The camera & drone work is crisp. The narrating is very informative. Love the historical facts, too. The UP has been 'second home' since the 70's and has provided decades of fun memories for generations. PS - It's Petoskey not Petowski😊

Plus I love to see how respectful people are of the beautiful places that they experience here. If you get back up there, try Jean Kay's Pasties in Marquette. I know you like the veggie ones but get one with the beef instead; the meat adds much more flavor to the meal. You should use Catsup on a pasty; gravy is nasty and I'm not even a Yooper!😂😂😂

This was fun. The folks at Northern Michigan University in Marquette might want you to know that they are not a part of the University of Michigan. NMU is proud of its own identity and is an important part of what makes life up here special. The same could be said for Michigan Tech University up in Houghton. They may not be "MIT", but they too make held in high regard nationally. I admire your sense of adventure and especially love seeing your take on our very special Upper Peninsula. Thank you and please come again soon.

So interesting to watch your experiences there, considering I haven't really experienced the tourism aspects of that Great Land. Thank you for sharing about the Indigenous history. It's so sad what happened to those Beautiful Sacred people. I cry thinking about it. It's because of them that area is so amazing. The food up there is the worst, as you reported. For the best pasties in Michigan, from a native Michigander- who's already explored her state, is in Cadillac near the Mitchell State Park. Interesting piece of trivia. Pasties were always eaten by the pit workers in Cornwall UK. The twirled piece of pastry that holds them together is where the pit workers would hold onto the pastie. So that they could throw the crust out as saying their hands wasn’t always convenient. They are really good filled with potato and vegetable with Indian spices. :)

Michigan from coast to coast, whether southern or northern has the most spectacular places. And the Canadian side has some great places too. By the way... there's a great and safe diving area in the pictured rocks. it's been my family secret since the late 60s. I won't disclose the location because I don't want anyone to get injured should something go wrong. Great video of my home state.

Canadians and "Trolls" (below the bridge folk) eat gravy on pasties, Yoopers eat butter and ketchup on them. And a pasty should never be vegan, most real pasty crust recipes start with lard then add the beef and pork mixture (you can still buy freshly mixed in certain stores) to the potatoes, carrots, onions, and "beggies" (rutabaga)! Lol

One of, maybe even THEE best RV tour of the UP I’ve seen! So many RVers went to Michigan this summer, mostly to the UP… heck, even Gordon Ramsay did a tour of the UP this summer (food related, of course!), yet this is the best video tour! I’ve been to most of the areas you visited, including Tahquamenon Falls, but I didn’t even know that Bond Falls existed! Even more beautiful! Tahquamenon is pretty, with its tannic acid coloring, but Bond Falls was exquisite! Thank you for the tour!

You did an amazing job capturing the northern UP going to some amazing places, and you did an exceptional job appreciating & showing the natural beauty. One could easily RV for the entire summer and not experience everything. There is the Eastern UP as well as the southern UP, having so much to offer. I get it, one only has so much time on a road trip & need to select what fits into the calendar. The summer of 2021 we took the same route but when west-to-east, yet we had to do it in a much more condensed manner. Summer or Fall of 2023 we plan to do the Lake Superior Circle, 4 of us in 2 RVs. I can hardly wait! BTW, I studied at NMU in Marquette 40+ years ago and I just love the UP. WELL DONE!

I’m so glad you enjoyed your Michigan trip. I knew you would. There is a lot of beautiful places in Michigan. I have always loved their Lakes. I miss eating their pasties. Found recipes for them and we might try to make them. My great grandmother used to home make those for her husband who worked in the copper mine. He did that and made furniture. Excellent travelogue of a beautiful part of Michigan (I live downstate in southwest michigan-another great place). Your video production quality is top notch. One thing visitors should not miss is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (shown in your video). Rooms are prohibitively expensive in summer, but for $10 you have full visitor access to the hotel. The lunch buffet isn’t cheap-but it’s the most extravagant buffet you’ll ever experience (your $10 porch fee is deducted from the buffet price). Sitting on the hotel’s 600-foot-long porch, enjoying a drink and watching sailboats on Lake Huron, provides a taste of luxury. I look forward to more of your videos.

At 2:04, that isn't Mackinac Island, that's Bois Blanc Island. Mackinac Island is a smaller island to the east of Mackinac Island.

State forest campgrounds are a great low cost way to camp. Most are right on the water. The last State forest I camped is by Harrisville on lake Huron. Took my grandson's and had a great time.

I would suggest going after July 4th to avoid the attack of the Black flies! They are very aggressive.

Thank you for show casing one of the beautiful areas of MI, The lower peninsula has a lot to offer also.Just want to add that you do not have to do Mackinac Island by horse or bike. You can walk to Arch Rock and other places of interest, easily. Been to most of the places you are showing, never saw it this busy. Covid created a lot of new campers.

I just came upon you here for the first time and totally enjoyed this adventure of yours! I have been housebound and recliner/bedbound for 9 years because of multiple debilitating, chronic illnesses that have continued to worsen over time. I am wheelchair bound out of our home, too. So I look for adventures thru other people's lives to enjoy from afar. We are thrilled that I found you! Both my hubby and I watched you together today, so thank you from Donna and Mike in West Central Florida. We're going to check out your other videos!

Mackinaw Island empties out at night and it becomes very relaxing. Plus, you can find a million private sunrise spots before any boats show up.

You definitely covered all the top spots. Great mountain biking around Marquette and Cooper Harbor for those with that interest. Some decent trails around Munising. Best to go later in August/September to miss the back flies. Those can be really bad close to the water.

We love the UP. It’s tough RVing up there with a 43 ft diesel. Not many camping spots for big rigs.

I remember one time I camped up there. I was being attacked by mosquitoes and grabbed what I thought was OFF and sprayed it all over myself. Suddenly I was swarmed by every bug you can and cannot think of. I grabbed the can of OFF and was about to give myself another dose of the stuff when I noticed I accidently had the used the can of ON.

Most summers, mosquitos are hard to find in UP. Small biting flies are around when there is on-shore breeze with humid air, before & after rain. Not a problem 90% of the time, but annoying in those rare times.
