I’ve been waiting for a video about funding for GEM so patiently 😂😭😭🙏🏻 it’s one those top lists of things to stress about when applying for GEM personally, specially when you don’t any family members or anyone else to help you out. If you have any useful information and options regarding this, it would be really helpful for a lot of people like us. Thank you so much sharing your journey 🙏🏻 it’s inspiring and helpful ❤️

I have a question. What;s the difference between biology and biomedical science? Whats better to choose? Do they have different careers? I ask beacause I am from Greece and here the biology deegre is considered better. I am thinking of studying biology and choosing th field of Microbiology and genetics and I am interested to work on research about human diseases...

Hi i am from Greece too! Basically biomed graduates work at hospitals at the laboratories or at a private lab! (Mostly Diagnostic) Biology can be more open to where you work I think but I don't know anyone that studies biology :)

Wow I was just thinking about if I choose the right type of course to do and I was stuck on the 4 year MSci or just doing the 3 year BSc and with a placement. The relief I have after watching this, now I know what to do😭 thanks for doing this video

Did your university not offer placement? If yes, then could you kindly share why you didn't go for any placements?

Interesting! 2 Q's: how many Uni's in the UK offer such an integrated course? and 2. What's the purpose/value then of such a 4 year program? Is it more aimed at delivering biomedical scientists for NHS? Or to put prospective PhD students on a fast-track? Or...?

Can you bring us through your experience and process of getting a summer research project? Would love to hear about that since I am in Year 1 of Biomedical Science at Newcastle University.

Could you kindly elaborate on the a 4 years biomed with 1 year industrial placement particularly in newcastle U. Is that stream any better as i am planning this 4 years biomed pathway from Newcastle. Are there enough opportunities that the university provides for industrial placement or is it for the students to search and find. Any tips for a course selection with industrial placement would be welcome pls. Thanks

hey, just thought i'd pop in here to say I'm a current biomed student at newcastle in my second year, and I've been applying to placements. it's really up to the student to find the placements themselves BUT there are specific staff right now that are helping students with everything, they're setting up meetings and seminars to discuss interview techniques, CV writing, they let you know what previous students have done and let you talk to them about their placements, and the careers service at newcastle are happy to look over CVs and give advice, so there's a lot of support available for applying to placements (for example, there are placements in AstraZeneca, GSK, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, to name a few).
