I think paper screens would work a little bit better in game. Combine sticks and paper, and they would look like glass panes that are opaque, but still let light through. Or for a door, surround a door with paper to make a sliding screen door, which would be the first 2 block long door.

Unless the items, that enter the outputs at random, would enter them in a clockwise manner, starting from the northern direction and going through them all one by one, prioritizing the bottom output the first, followed by any of the side outputs.
