You sure have a gem of a daughter. She was so thoughtful to get the Rowlett toaster for you, she knew how thrilled you be and how much it would mean to you I have a daughter like that too. She’s only 25 but so sweet.
Granny Pat, I just love you and your videos! God bless you for spreading so much goodness, it warms my heart to watch you. I am 55 years old and your witness to life beginning at 57 is so inspiring. Please keep on keeping on and I will be a forever fan! When the HG network comes a knockin' ( if they haven't already), please stay true to your recipe for living life, cause ur the Real Deal! I keep you in my prayers and send you warm wishes for continued success in all you do and love and happiness in doing it, for ALL your years😘
Funny that you mentioned HGTV.The shoe came out of Knoxville, TN. I worked 20 miles from there. I loved the show and vowed and declared that when I retired I would have my own show on HGTV. Lynette Jennings was my favorite. Well, I guess I did the next best thing! Thanks for reminding me.
Oh I am so excited for you to respond to my comment! Thank you, I am watching the pimento cheese recipe show right now, just happens to be one of my favorite things. Just wanted you to know I enjoy watching your show just as much as any of my favorite HGTV shows! Take care now GP, you are loved❣
I love to hear stories. I could sit like a little child and listen. My mother in law was from England. She would tell me stories from the war. My husband came to the states on the Queen Mary twice. We have his boarding pass. She said when she stepped off the ship all she wanted was a banana. She hadn't had one since the war started. The troops got all the good stuff.
That is quite a toaster! And pricey! But what a nice gift you got for Christmas. When my husband and I were engaged he worked during the week about 3 hours away, staying with his godparents. He had plenty of time to go shopping and always went to this one store that always had deals. He had made me a hope chest and of course he would buy something to put in it. Your toaster brought back the memory of the toaster he gave me one week..Presto and he paid $6.88 for it! It lasted a long time and I always called it my best toaster. Another time he brought me a set of nested stainless steel bowls which I use almost every day..at least one of them! After 61 years of marriage he passed almost 2 years ago. Life is different but have good kids , hobbies and the Lord!
Pat, you've done it again! A beautiful story about a beautiful toaster, told by a beautiful young lady. 😊 My wife Sara and I are 61 and live up here in the southwest corner of Indiana, in Evansville. I especially enjoy all the little tips and tricks you talk about. I'll share a few I learned from my grandmother Bessie Mae... 1. Add a few grains of uncooked rice to the salt shaker. 2. Put a slice of bread in the cookie jar with some hard cookies. 3. Sharpen your butcher knives on the edge of a crock. 4. In the winter time, keep a pan of water on the Warm Morning stove in the living room. ~ KEEP them coming GIRL ~
I love that toaster. It looks like it was built to last! A very nice quality item. Unfortunately, that's not the case with most things today. My grandparents used to buy the best quality merchandise that they could afford. They took very good care of their things and had them for many years. How things have changed in terms of the type of quality with items today. Names that used to be synonymous with quality and longevity from cars, to finer furniture, to appliances are junk compared to the quality of years ago. Yes, I've learned the hard way! lol. Anyway, I just love seeing your videos and listening to you, Pat! I find myself looking for new videos from you when I log on to You Tube! I wish you every success and I'll be watching every video! 😄
Thank you for sharing. I'm so happy your daughter decided to get that toaster for you. It is very nice looking and for it to have lasted 10 years.... well it surly was a good investment. I've been through three or four toasters in the past 10 years. Looking forward to the next video of your stories and collections.
Great stories my grandmother used a big bar of soap with a wash board and big metal tub to do her washing I think she called it carbolic soap 🧼 remember the smell of it so well keep doing what you are doing you put a smile on me and my family's face we sit and watch you on the big screen and look forward to your vlogs sending our love from Northern Ireland 💕
I absolutely loved that you showed the bar of soap from the past. So many things are lost nowadays and you are keeping them alive. I love all your stories and that is an amazing toaster!!!!
Pat, I am addicted to your stories. I live about 6 to 7 miles from KFC in Keavy, where I was born. I know so many of the places you talk about. I love unusual dishes. I also love books. I have a small room that has book cases, on 3 sides. In these cases are mostly children books and cook books. I write down all your recipes, I plan to make several of your dishes. I love to cook. PS I helped my mother make lye soap in the yard in wash tubs. We used them in our wash water.
That was a huge bar of soap! I've never seen such a thing. Your toaster story story gave me happy tears at the end. You must of had such a look of surprise! Thank you for sharing such wonderful stories and memories Granny Pat❤
I'm in Troy NY . I enjoy so many Of your stories, my Mom was A gadget lover and she had Many I love to show them to My friends and hear what They think they are. Like the Gahouley that open jars or The tool that removes cherry Pits or the fork with only two Prongs used to eat pie.
Hello Love your videos They have been so very interesting 😊 to listen to Also the Umbrella issue was my favorite You mentioned your daughter also has a very nice collection of 🏖️ umbrellas Thank you so much for your stories, they have brought 2 brand new dementions into my life, Story Telling and the love of Antiques
Thank you. I have had hurtful criticism recently which leads me to discontinue videos from my kitchen. I will continue with Show and Tell and Storytelling. I mean no offense to you who have supported me.
I love the change of setting, also. The lighting is good, too. Oh goodness, those stamps! I vaguely remember them, but I was a child in the 1970s and they were almost disappeared by then. You know what? When you showed that cute sprinkler bottle, I paused the video and started intoning while watching you! I had never seen a sprinkler bottle. You kept us interested with the wonderful toaster story. What a gift you have for telling your life stories. I’d love to see your 1950s stepstool!
Thanks for your observations. The step stool is the same as what you would buy today. I said 1950s and should have said 1960s. I get off track now and then and have to correct myself. Most sprinklers were Pepsi bottles with a sprinkler in the top.
What a beautiful toaster!! Worth every penny!! My mom had a sprinkler for her clothes she ironed. But it was a glass pop bottle with a stopper with holes in it. I remember the quality stamps and S&H green stamps. Got many things with them. Always remember the kids got to moisten them and put thrm in their books. I do enjoy hearing your stories! Im a new subscriber so i have lots to catch up on!! Your kitchen us lovely. I love those step stools with a seat. My sister had one. We used to sit and talk on the phone. Have a blessed day❤❤

Wow, Thanks. Great Story. That toaster is awesome looking. Looks like it could be from the 40's or 50's. Such a beauty. Um, I think the price is quite a bit our of my price range.
I've never heard of a laundry sprinkler. And we call the reamers a juicer for oranges, limes, lemons..if thats the same thing. I love the stories from the past !! ♥️ I've seen you post about the toaster and search for the video. So i did and grateful for the story.
Oh Granny Pat my Grandmother used to tell me that during the war her mother-in-law (my great- grandmother made batches of octagon soap and everyone wanted a bar. I think they used it for everything, i.e. body, laundry, cleaning.
Yes, it wasn’t like the Dove we have today. Can you imagine them trying to make soap. I can see the two little old ladies in their back yards making lye soap in their big wash tubs.
Some of them are so elegant. I have a few all different ones..... babies, clowns, raggedy Ann and Andy even a tomato head, but my favorites are the beautiful ladies heads.
Good Morning Granny Pat. Just now saw this story . I am up and going to E80 yard sales that starts today thru Labor day. They run from London all the way to Manchester. You can spend an entire day and still not get to all of them. Will you be at the story telling at Dupont Lodge in 2024.
