Granny Pat.. stop saying ur not a good cook!!! You are awesome 👌.. you have 3 books and that newspaper cookbook you contributed to.. and you have 10,000 followers here to learn your recipes and cooking advice!! I've only been here three days and learned so much from you!! You are a good cook!!! 💕
What a joy to meet someone like you Pat....you're someone that sees and shares the positive characteristics of others. Thank you for pointing out that mashing verses mixing potatoes can make the difference in the finished product. Everyone loves fluffy potatoes! Mmm!
Yummy 😋 back in Ireland we add white cabbage and onion with cream and butter it's called colcannon al my grandmother used to use spring onions and buttermilk in her mash potatoes (champ) with a fried egg on top but I will be trying your recipe 😋 💕
Your recipe is fascinating. I can’t imagine buttermilk in mashed potatoes. But then, I couldn’t imagine making cakes with buttermilk, and I soon learned how good they were. Even at my age I’ve much to learn.
I’m definitely going to add the celery, onions and sour cream next time I make mashed potatoes. Looks delicious! I enjoyed watching the steps of this recipe. Please don’t worry about showing inside the pot as you cook, it’s good enough as it is. The vintage apron is a nice touch. Someone gave me some they had collected, but they are for very skinny people! Finally: please do a video sometime where you show us your vintage stove. It caught my eye immediately, with the clock on the front, and I belong to a vintage appliances group that would LOVE to see a video demonstrating all the buttons, etc. there are RU-vid videos showing all kind of vintage large home appliances. Thank you again for giving us something nice and positive to watch! I look forward to every one of your videos. Love from Texas! ❤️
Granny Pat I started watching your channel a couple of days ago. Those mashed potatoes 🥔 look so delicious 😋 can't wait to make them. I love mashed potatoes 🥔 😋 Thank you. God bless you 💖 🙏
Wow that mashed potato looks delicious! I watched you make them with my daughter (she's 7 years old), and we are going to make the recipe this weekend ❤ Thank you. Sending you best wishes from England 🏴
Im making these next time I have mashed potatos. I have put cheese in mine before but cannot wait ti try all the other ingredients! Yummm Thanks Granny Pat! I love your cooking and all your stories. You’re delightful!💖
I enjoy your chats so much as you are busy at your working around the house cooking, etc. Entertaining and Makes life so much more interesting. Thank you for all your experience and skills that you have learned along the way. Jean
I agree about manually mashing the potatoes. My mother used a rice press to squeeze the potatoes through. I will try your recipe using a little less butter.
Im just now starting your video but before I forget I wanted to share with you what I LOVE doing with my potatoes, I love to add BROWNED BUTTER, they don’t just take them up a notch, they take them up and over the top!!! I learned it from an Amish gal here on YT, sooooo delicious! Her name is @LynetteYoder. Okay back to viewing your video!! ❤
I will definitely try your recipe…I love to make and eat mashed potatoes!!!! I don’t like to use an electric mixer for mashed potatoes either…using a potato masher is so much better!!!
I love your videos. I am originally from Tennessee , 72 1:48 and can relate so much to your stories. I smile thru all your videos cause it's like talking with my friends I grew up with. I totally enjoy you and have shared your channel with all of them and they are loving you as well! Please don't stop.
I'm going to try this. Although , I must admit that I do use a hand mixer for my potatoes.😳 But only very sparingly until they are just mixed. Thank you, Pat!
I still use a mixer for my potatoes and rarely get pasty mashed potatoes. I used a potato masher first. The key to fluffy potatoes is to warm a bit of milk first. Cold milk makes pasty potatoes. Love watching each and every video!
Granny Pat - I just absolutely love watching you and watch YT all the time to make sure that I don't miss an episode. I lost my grandmother in 2010 and I miss her so much - I wanted to let you know that I have been watching a miniseries - it's a period piece set in the late 19th century in Lexington, Kentucky - I thought you would love to look for that and watch it - it's called "legacy" and it's all centered around horse racing and of course Kentucky politics but very good!! I have been to Lexington several times, and it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. Would love to get down that way sometime again - I live about 5 hours North of Paducah in Central Illinois (Clinton) - a very historic town that is famous for Abraham Lincoln and we have a lot of history in Clinton in regards to his time that he set in on court cases in Clinton (DeWitt County) Illinois, learned to play billiards here, stayed overnight in a hotel that is still standing, gave speeches here, and practiced law with CH Moore for which we have a beautiful Homestead and Museum in his honor. This is the first time that I have posted - how wonderful that you still have 2 sisters left and the closeness of your family. God Bless you!!
It sounds wonderful! I have been to a little historic town where you cross a bridge and you are in Illinois. It was so pretty. Can’t remember the town but it had a restaurant called the Magnolia (I think). Not too far from Evansville, IN.
I treated myself yesterday & bought my very first Dutch oven (Pioneer Woman’s). I will be cooking mashed potatoes in it tonight & trying them your way! 🙂
When I was growing up in England we had white potatoes or King Edwards which were red and white (patches). My mom liked King Edward potatoes, they had a yellow colour when peeled. Every meal in the evening we had meashed potatoes. Spaghetti was unheard of unless it was in a tin.
I’ve never used a potato masher but will be on the lookout for one at thrift and antique stores. Then I’ll make these delicious looking potatoes 😊 Robin in Ohio
Thank you for sharing that mashed potatoes recipe. You are not alone with that t-shirt shrinkage, some of my faves cut short after washing & drying. Now, I hang dry my fave blouses & shirts. By the way, I have gained that "spare tire"...COVID weight, that's what I say.
I like to watch you cook. Going to try sauteed green onions instead and fresh dill with a dash of buttermilk- maybe serve with a dollop of sour cream on the side. You inspire people 😊👍
She won a contest with her award winning mash potatoes they gave her a trip to England she tells about it in another video share the channel so others can watch her I did its free
Oh, pasty gummy stodgy mashed potatoes bring a tear to mine eye. Potato masher or potato ricer is only way to make just as You said,”Like Momma made ‘em”
My grandkids love my mashed potatoes. They tell me all the time that I’m the best cook. My response to them is, you never ate my Granny’s cooking. To me she was the best cook in the whole world. But, you are a very good cook also. I love to watch you cook and tell your stories!! I love you, Granny Pat
Thank you for sharing your mashed recipe. Amazingly, I make mine exactly the same way except I don’t have celery and I don’t put milk on top of them. Sometimes I put bacon bits in them.. I then call them loaded whipped potatoes 😊 …God Bless you! ..Brian
Granny Pat, I love KFC, too! I think it’s delicious! I’ll try your mashed potato recipe, because it’s different. I always used, milk, sour cream and butter, but the sautéed vegetables add a nice change. Thank you!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
This is actually a version of Pennsylvania Dutch potato filling. I sauté onion, celery in butter, then add bread cubes & let that sauté a little. Add to mashed potatoes & beat 2 eggs in it also. Put in casserole dish & baked till golden brown.
I love the China that you have in your kitchen I do wish I had kept my old plates they were much prettier than what they have now I'm eighty one year old woman living in new Zealand have started watching your posts bringing back memories ❤❤❤
Yummy, thank you, Miss Pat. Think I’ll make some. I’ve always used a potato masher. Learned how to cook from my mom. Had to with a big family. Those potatoes give a whole new meaning to getting a belly ring. ❤️
Just found your channel.. looking forward to watching your videos. In your comments ...Linda Harris' query..are you a Doctor Ms Harries or just a rude busybody? I'm sure Ms Pat has her own physician.
Yes I do enjoy watching somebody else cook. I have never seen or used the mashed potato utensil that you are using oh, we had a metal one. I'm going to try to find one like you have and buy it. This is Minnesota Miki. I make plenty mistakes but I do like sour cream a lot 😊
Love you Gran Gran!!!!!! You could cook a stick from the back yard and I’d love ❤️ it!!!!!!! Keep on puttin somethin in them pots!!!!!!! I am learning some new things about cookin keep the pots boiling 🥵 and the kitchen hoppin !!!!!!! Love ❤️ hugs and prayers always ✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘
After you add the butter to your potatoes, be sure and add hot milk. You will know how much if you pour a little at a time. I forgot to do that in the video.
@@Canofaces the wall to my right shows my Toaster. You can read about it on #40, the Rowlett Toaster, an interesting story. The items on my stove are my Kitchen Aid Mixer, and my Slow Cooker.
Lids don’t fit! You’re so funny! Using a hand masher keeps them fluffier and doesn’t whoop the air out of them( destroy the cellular structure). Cropped tops are in, go for it!
Hi Pat! I haven’t seen this view of your kitchen yet. Can you tell me what that cute little thing that looks like a little red sombrero is that hangs on the wall is?
One of my closest girlfriends married Colonel Sanders's grandson, Harland Adams. They had two children, a son and a daughter, but they eventually divorced. Both Harland and my friend are deceased now. I really miss her.
Oh my gosh, does your message ring a bell with me. I was living in Louisville in the late 1950s-60s. I became acquainted with a couple in my Sunday School class at church. They happened to be Colonel Sanders grandson and his wife. What a coincidence that you would mention this.
