That's equivalent to 296 euros to feed 8 people per week. As we spend 75€ a week to feed two people and you're feed growing hungry children, you're a blooming marvel! Absolutely well done.

FrugalqueeninFrance. I agree with you totally. My husband and I live very frugally in Queensland Australia, waste nothing, cook from scratch and try as I might I can't seem to go below around $100/week. We are not extravagant eaters. Mince and chicken mostly plus vegetables and Salads. This year growing our own with some success. I am subscribed to both channels Jane and Nyssa and find them both terrific. Another is cheapskates club but I cannot get my groceries down as low as Cath does. I'm pleased to see someone else with similar costings to ours. Well done.

It makes sense to buy treats at a better price if they are going to get bought anyway. Don’t feel awkward showing them - it isn’t an excessive amount for the number of people and the amount of time they’ll last. Great haul! I enjoyed seeing it

Grated sweet potato frozen is a good backstop to add to bakes, casseroles, stews, soups etc.... whole roasted ( they caramelise) chucked in the nooks and crannies when the oven is on is a good 'filler' for kids at lunchtime- like a loaded baked spud- but half the time. i grate, dehydrate and powder also when i have a glut and it ends up in cakes, soups, gravies- a sweeter 'thickener' ... or topper if blended with salt or seasonings. I hope the desks panned out- great bargain! Tax time coming up... hopefully refunds can get your fridge trailer done and ready for summer 🌻 i haven't been to a big town in 8 months- i work the Coles specials cycle and it's delivered for free over $250 or $4 for under, saves me 250km round trip fuel and time, and any bunnings etc a friend or family member grabs for me when coming past. Kmart is also free delivery over $65 so is another work around. We have an excellent farmer's market here fortnightly and competing foodworks and iga locally so cycle their specials. We have a local whole/health foods store who when doing a bulk order will add your bulk items to their pallet for a teensy extra so honest to goodness, milled flours etc are pretty much freight free and work out cheaper than me ordering them. Life is a giant work around! Huge haul, chick.... and lost a day to boot, as always i applaud you ❤️

That's just smart shopping for anyone these days.

4,300 Australian Dollar equals 2,881.09 United States Awesome. So a 281 usa is 430 aussie. Or 6.7 usa vs 1 aussie. Their veg and fruit is much cheaper than usa. But they do alot of name brands mfg in Australia. But the locals love their store brands which are much cheaper. Similar to other countries. Such a team effort that the world keeps turning and not broke when you get back. Some fathers aren't as organized as yours. Or as dependable on keeping the ship from sinking. Lol.

I had no idea that coconut cream even came in a 5ltr (goon bag 😂), which would be easier to manage if it had a tap on it. I wonder once open how long it lasts, lve always found coconut milk or cream turns quickly 🤔
@OurSmallFootprint
@OurSmallFootprint Месяц назад
Would def be easier with a tap, it does have a threaded connection on it but the company I get it from (hello pure) doesn’t sell anything for it, I might keep looking but I just decant it into jars. They say 7 days once opened. Which is pretty much how long it takes us to go through, we use it for coffee, baking, ice cream, smoothies, curries etc etc, so we go through it pretty quick. It’s also a really high quality, so I water it down a bit in the jars and can water it down further in cooking etc if the recipe only calls for milk.

An amazing vegan Caribbean dessert with sweet potato: peel and blend potatoes with coconut milk add sugar (sweetener) to taste (remember it tastes sweeter after baking). It has to be on the runny side. i add ginger nutmeg and cinnamon. But you can use whatever you like or nothing at all. Bake until it looks like a runny pudding and it looks really dark. Around 2 hrs! It firms up in the fridge but i like it hot. I usually add butter to the top half way through the baking but you can use ghee, it gives it a soft shiny top. You would love it.

Also you could grate put into freezer but put into water as I think it will go brown on edges...also grate for wedges with curry spices kids will love them for a snack or movie night...I don't even peel them put in bag with some oil with curry power then wedges close bag them mix with hands turn out onto trays oven to bake then eat...the best big time... As I didn't see potatoes in your food hall...also you could make sweet potato mash or squash them for mince ontop...or curry...heaps of things you can make with sweet potatoes...try it crazy not too....😮😮😮😮😮

Oh wow that’s quite a haul love but I guess it’s for a couple of months or so 😊the price of groceries is beyond ridiculous! I’ve started shopping at Aldi more often and have noticed quite a price difference to what I would spend at Coles or Woolies with an average saving of $15-$20 per week. I do buy a few bits and bobs from the duopoly that I can’t get at Aldi but there is a notable difference. Thanks for sharing, that was really interesting love. Catch you next time

All that broccoli, carrots and cauliflower has me thinking of my grandpas “leftover” soup. He takes fresh veggie odds and makes a creamy chowder like soup with it ands bread. Is delicious 🤤 I make it very garlicky. I bet it would be good with rice milk if you have extra.

Before the tomatoes go off. You can blend them and put in a freezer bag and store in freezer. 😊

I run out of freezer space a lot hehe, but I love to just roast them in trays and can them :D and that is prob what will happen with the majority, or I turn them into salsa for the shelves too :D

Nyssa, it sounds a lot but as you said you had to replace stuff in your pantry and shelves, at the end of the day if it’s being used it’s just a normal expense, so glad you were able to get extra rice milk and other things cause you struggle to get some things some months, enjoy your extras and experiments in the creamy. Take care Snookums 😊

What an exhausting few days! Persimmon are excellent in smoothies or as the sweet part of a savory sauce (like BBQ) I do not like them alone.

Wow, what a haul! I really wish I was as organized as you to do two month shops. I can't even get a monthly shop done. Working on it though. Thanks for the inspiration.

Im not a fan of sweet potato either. It tastes too much like pumpkin! What a huge grocery haul! I hope everyone helped put it all away! Daryl is a sweetheart cooking tea for you all and fixing up the kitchen for you! You wont know yourself with this new oven! Enjoy some downtime!

Yes, I don't do pumpkin either hehe, I think its the texture! But I should cook more of it for D and the kids, some of them don't like it, but they all love sweet potato gnocchi, and it works as the base of a mac and cheese too, and even a sweet potato brownie...

I fry my gnocchi after I've cooked them. Have you tried having them this way?

I love watching your food halls. I'm trying to figure out what the heck is porridge? I literally thought it was Just in kids fairy tales. It's just crazy cause over here, it's summer and over there is winter❄⛄

I think its referred to as oatmeal in the US ? its just rolled oats, or quick oats, and cooked in water/milk with flavours to a gruel type consistency :)

Hey Nyssa (aka SuperMum), I did notice you had extra goodies this time. But it's winter & if we didn't have a little treat now and then, then life wouldn't be so yummy. Besides, you deserve it. Hope Darryl enjoys his steak ♥

We have several persimmon trees in our yard and there are two different kinds. It looks to me that the ones you got are for baking and may be good for your ninja creamy but not good to eat. The ones for eating off the trees are more firm. Always fun to watch 👍

I was googling them in store and saw there were two diff types, I wasn't sure exactly which ones were which, but the Lady at the F&V said these ones are right at eating when they're kinda squishy! The kids tried one, I don't think any of them were super enamoured, but someone said they like them with vanilla ice cream, so they might be nice in that yes! :D

i am always amazed at the amount of food you buy and how you use it for how little you actually spend. I only spend less on food because we are a smaller family our per meal per person numbers are a bit smaller when i change it to US$ to not really be a difference. you are just amazing though in doing 8-9 weeks. i only do 5

While it’s cold, I haven’t used it as much, but there’s a fire inside so hey! lol, but I reckon in summer it will get a massive workout, we’ll have plenty of eggs from the chooks and the kids can have lots of varied flavours!
