cool little video. I must add for a semi being loaded and bees flying. I’m surprised they don’t have a couple of smokers rolling to keep those girls inside even on a cold day. Frame count can change in each hive. Once the semi is loaded, the bees will warm up because the temperature increases with all of them condensed like that on the truck and they will drift inside of those nets. just a small tip for that Beekeeper if you know him personally it will help him in the long run

I had a smoker going earlier before they started filming.

Thanks for doing this video. As a beekeeper for 5 years I knew about almond pollination but not all of the details. Interesting about the clean pallet requirements. I understand why. Many of our non native pests came from importing or hauling goods.

I am so glad you liked it! Gosh I spent a week combing thru the footage then Kasey was like why don’t you just post it all? I’m glad it worked out ☺️

Usually after the almond pollination, the bee keepers can pay and leave hives for the citrus honey flow. Sometimes, bee keepers leave them on my property.

Oh he’s great! I am so happy I met him and Caleb, the beekeeper he is mentoring. It’s inspiring seeing that someone can start a beekeeping business of that scale as a first generation

It would have been good if you had asked questions such as: "What do you look for as you are deciding which hives go on the truck vs those that won't go on the truck?"

The twist in a strap keeps it from flapping in the wind at highway speed. All truckers know that!! Lol

That is impressive. I couldn't imagine loading all or most of my bees and sending them off on a semi. Sleepless nights when they get transported and hoping they make arrive safely. I guess that's what insurance is for but I couldn't imagine losing that many hives if the worst happened. Will you show what they do when they come back? Do they bring them back then split them and sell nucs or package bees? I could only imagine for small scale this would only work financially if you coupled with a large scale beekeeper to add on to their load. Thanks for sharing! As far as the audio I believe their are a few programs that take out background noise but I don't know enough about them to recommend one.

This won’t be the last time you are seeing Ron and Caleb ☺️ they are great at what they do! And maybe we will send some hives out in the coming years 🤷🏼‍♀️ as for the audio..thank you! I’ll look into other programs. I edited the audio with noise cancelling and vocal enhancer effects in premier pro but still that audio was gated to clean up. Way better than what it was tho for sure! Thank you for watching and being there and merry Xmas and happy new year to you! ☺️

Best of luck in California. I hear a lot of stories from Mike Palmer and Randy Oliver on the difficulties of Almond polination. Keep posting, you are doing good stuff.

1.Palmer doesn't come. His opinion on almonds is pretty much mute. 2. Randy has been at it a long time. He still is,at it and I doubt will stop. 3. I've pollinated almonds 42 years. what's the problem? I'm at a loss.

@@philhofland5501 i believe Mike Palmer has gone in the past as he has remarked on the subject. Besides that he has been a respected member of the beekeeping community for decades and has given a wealth of knowledge to those willing to listen. To mute someone like that is silly. Have some respect.
@philhofland5501
@philhofland5501 6 месяцев назад
@@atlas4225 I have total respect for Mr. Palmer. we continually try to emulate many of His procedures in our Alaska side of the bee business. His cold weather expertise is invaluable. To give him much credence on the almond front is just plain silly if he has little or no recent experience. Would be like me commenting on raising queens in Hawaii. if have a clue seeing how we run 4000 sides in Cali each spring but to parse out wise counsel on the nuances of tropical queen raising would be imprudent at best. basically a guess.

Y'all was talking about California , at least you can poop in the streets here but if your dog does you get a ticket or worse. If you kill someone no problem but throw a dog from a moving car for a felon and sentenced to a long prison term. No I don't condone animal abuse but I don't condone murder either. Lol
