For the Dark Angles at the moment, it is a mixed bag. On one hand they were able to receive much need reinforcements and the exchanged assured them that Guilliman held no ill will against them for the fallen. However they are also worried about them due to the fact they have not received the proper indoctrination to get them ready to know the truth about the fallen (should be noted that Primaris Librarians have been informed about the Fallen due to the fact that they the officers realized they could just read their minds if they get suspicious), especially since a few of them are at the point of being accepted into the Death due to their decades of service.

If you want to unify various Science Fiction universes, which given the Emperor's background is a viable fanfic possiblity, you could see the various super soldier and power armor developments as the Emperor experimenting with the concept until getting to the Warhammer 40K Space Marines.

It seems to basically be that a certain somebody found a way around the "rage lord" problem of Thunder Warriors and that's basically what the Primaris are. Or maybe they haven't really found a way around it and just don't care because they're desperate for beefy power against hordes of xenos and Chaos.

I think adults can be made into space marines but it's very very risky as most adults reject the geneseed. Children have a lower rejection rate.

According to that WHTV stream when Primaris were announced, yes. But we haven't seen any evidence to support this on lore yet.

They can. Some marines take pride knowing the geneseeds history.

So long as they don't die, each Astartes is harvested twice anyway (there are two Progenoids, one implanted into the chest cavity and the other in their throat, I think to make sure they're close to a good blood supply to absorb the genes of the other implants. Presumably it's also possible to re-implant an Astartes with new Progenoids after the fact and I'm actually surprised it isn't common practise for the chest Progenoid at least to be removed as soon as it is 'ripe' and a replacement (probably best to make sure it's from a different marine) implanted to keep pumping out Gene-Seed from the entire chapter as long as they all live. There might be some good reason why this isn't done though, such as a mature Marine's organs not being suitable for supplying the Progenoid with genetic material to grow into Gene-Seed somehow. This is where my knowledge breaks down.

I would assume you could get more than one per marine. I don’t think the implant more to be harvest, as it takes some time for them to mature... maybe a super old marine if he’s still viable?

It's just odd to me that you'd only get 1 gene seed per marine. If you account for lost Space Marines and the 5% tithe the Mechanicum wants every so often, eventually a chapter will not have enough to create new Space Marines. I start j read about 5 years back that after 10 years the gene seed could be harvested in order to create another Space Marine and it would regrow allowing more gene seed to be produced.

Like I said, each Marine produces enough Gene Seed to implant two more.

Primarius marines were a failed attempt to explain larger models in the wargame. Combined with actually advancing the plot of the universe, which people have been asking to happen for decades. Instead of just making the models the slightly larger size to make them the same scale as the IG and other unarmored models, or advancing the plot in a manner that makes actual sense. GW just wanted to give people what they wanted in the worst way possible.

Custodies are not made of the same geen seed. They are bodyguards of emperor they deffend the imperial palace. They can live forever and they are some of the best wariors in galaxy. Primaris marines are marines that guilliman instructed 2 be made . Their gene seed is unknown. They are bigger and bulkier then space marines. They can survive direct hit 2 head from sniper rifle. Thats mostly it i could talk bout this for long time go find some videos

I mean, it's usually a redundancy feature. Marines can't be 100% guaranteed to be in their armour when they need it and the value of the Astartes is more than just straight military. They often serve as a rallying point, morale boosters and examples to the IG... also, it comes down to what the Imperium/Mechanicum *can't* produce... since the Heresy invention, innovation and development have become nigh-to impossible for practical and dogmatic reasons. In short, it's a lot more practical for the Imperium to field only about 1,000,000 power-armoured supersoldiers rather than try to supply billions of regular humans with dark-age tech that probably doesn't even exist any more.

And there's only a couple thousand suits of Mk1 Thunder pattern Power Armour left in the galaxy, all of them revered relics of whichever Chapter holds them. If you need an example of why the Imperium fights the way it does just look at WW2 Russia, which at times sent men into battle with one rifle and one load of ammunition between two men (on the understanding that one of them was probably going to die quickly, so the other guy could pick up whatever he was issued and actually fight. In Stalingrad the Red Army was outfitted with an almost 50/50 split of Soviet-made weapons and guns captured from the Wehrmacht). It's all about economy of scale and unfortunately the Imperium is so MASSIVE that it's a wonder that most Guardsmen get armour at all!

MrMortull the economics of scale would usually tend to make things cheaper. The reason I pointed out the mark 1 is because it was locally manufactured from common materials is technically simpler and could be used by normal humans. Just tell the factories to start pumping them out. Also to quote Stalin "numbers have a quality of their own" it's the same logic behind the lazgun.

That's all true, but unfortunately Power Armour of any sort isn't 'simple' enough to benefit from that economy (hence flak armour and other such near-useless shite equipment). Stalin's quote there kind of makes the opposite point than the one you were trying to prove with it.

Well, yes, but actually no, but also yes. They basically get a free pass on the "mutant heretic scum" shit because they're so vital for the survival of humanity... wait, why doesn't the Imperium just mass conscript all the mutants to add to the horde that is the Imperial Guard and just put them into jobs where they're basically death-bound in order to get rid of them while making xenos and Chaos just the slightest bit less of a problem.

1. 40k wont be 40k without the space marines, thats like taking out superman and batman out of the justice league 2. The custodes are the elites of the elites thus must be extremely shittingly hard to make even for big E 3. the thunder warriors were clearly flawed despite being stronger...they would obviously go rogue after leaving terra and thus create more problems then fixing them 4. its fucking chaos....chaos always finds a way to fuck up everything.... and the way i see it, legions of thunder warriors are far far easier to corrupt compared to actual astartes

@Git Gud: 40k has lots of literary/aesthetic goals that require space marines. I'm not saying I want them taken out, just that in these theoretical discussions of the lore, it probably was a bad idea to create them and the primarchs. It's like Sauron creating the one ring, it was a means to final victory but also opened the door to his utter defeat. The point is that even corrupted thunder warriors wouldn't have been powerful enough to threaten the Emperor and Custodes are simply impossible to corrupt. @Sagrotan: The 40k imperium is, put simply, a victory for chaos. It's basically one big breeding ground for the negative emotions chaos feeds on and is a truely degraded and pathetic state for humanity. Chaos pulled the strings in the HH but it was primarchs and space marines who did the work in the physical realm that sent humanity on the road to hell. Humanity might be like the interex in 40k if not for the space marines.

As observed in the First Heretic the Custodes are amazing fighters but they do not boast the teamwork as seen by Space Marines. The idea being Space Marines are meant to be cooperating as a unit as they are mass produced. The Costudes are much rarer and boast way higher martial prowess per individual.

You need to understand the overall theme of this universe. Everything is shit. The idea of enjoyment or innocence is like almost completely eradicated. Also, I believe the idea of the surgeries is to ensure the transformation is done over time, and in stages to kind of have quality control, they also have decided on the specific genes inside these different organs

That is also a possibility. If this were true then Te'fiti would probably be a greater Daemon of Isha, or something. Also Tangled, and Frozen (since they happen on the same world as Moana) would also exist in Warhammer 40K, along with possibly some other ones such as Sleeping Beauty. Elsa being a Psyker, and Maleficent being a Daemon prince do seem to make some sort of sense. However the most important part about this would be the fact that the golden flower from Tangled was not the only one ( since we see more of them in Moana), and thus... We could use one to revive the emperor!!
