Right! 1 down, now all i need to do is make episodes relating to all the other factions and then all the various formations within those factions ! shouldn't take more than 2-3 years... Intro by Henrik Sigeman / archwarhammer
I find it laughable that GW now says that the previous 12 black crusades were ''just probe attack'' and that the thirteenth is the serious one. You can't change Failbaddon's reputation GW just accept it!
Old Armless must’ve been pretty damn unsure of himself if he had to run 12 maasive test invasions just to see if he could do it for real the 13th time.
Wish you'd gone deeper into the PDF and the tactical escalation strategy preferred by the Imperium when it's planets come under attack. And though I understand the hesitation about talking about all imperial regiments, I think Elysian Drop Troopers should have made a special mention. Dropping from the stratosphere with little more than a lascarbine and a Grav Chute against the greatest terrors in the universe. Balls of pure Adamantium!
That's why I got myself a plugin that disables autoplay for videos. Now when I fall asleep listening to Arch, I don't accidentally go through all of his videos overnight. But yea, as much as I love listening to him, his videos are great when you need to go to sleep.
Since you did another IG vid, I would assume this is the perfect place to ask if you would look at the Super Heavy tank varients available to the Guard (like the Baneblade, Stormhammer, Stormlord, ect)...
7:30 I had no idea Imperial fleets could resupply ground forces on their own, does this mean they can actually make their own ammunition and have rudimentary manufacturing facilities inside? I always assumed that EVERYTHING needed to be transported there from a forge world or other production center.
Apparently yes. The mechanicus will sometimes come along with ships specifically for producing everything the guard needs from ammo, to guns, to vehicles, and probably their armor as well.
Hey Arch, just wanna say thank for these great videos. I have some problems with insomnia so I often put on your lore playlists when I lay in bed and can't sleep. Seriously I think i can almost recite every single one of your fantasy lore videos by now.So thank you for making my sleepless hours better :) oh and Orks or Necrons next please!
Buzzy Bland I thought "abhumans" was a term for those mutants that were classified as "human enough" and thus accepted by the imperium. Wouldn't that mean all of them would be loyal?
I would love to see a more in-depth look at necron invasions. I know that most invasion fleets come to a planet because it's a tomb world and they want to assist in awakening it, but that's really about all i know. That and monoliths provide steady troop flow. We all know how tomb worlds awaken, thats discussed everywhere. What's not discussed is the actual necron armadas and tactics used in ship-to-ship combat, and how they assault a planet.
Man, I just really enjoy listening to all these wh40k lore videos. Even tough I dont play the tabletop or rarely play a videogame related to this, your storytelling just gets me really into this grim dark future. Thank you Arch, keep the nice work :)
Gotta remember that a ship in a gravity well has problems that a ship NOT in a gravity well doesn't. It's like a submarine at depth - all you need to do is pop a hole in the hull and the pressure does the rest. Worth remembering (even if GW doesn't) that the Imperium as a whole is a feudal government. What forces get raised and to whom those forces are allocated are dependent on a web of favours and promises of support that may or may not reflect the military requirements on the ground. This politicking extends throughout the Imperial Guard, often resulting in force compositions whose elements may or may not respond to orders from High Commands. AdMech and SpaceMuhreen forces are just more extreme examples. This is also why the Commissariat is so important, as it acts like the Inquisition in cutting through this sort of red tape, sometimes literally. Finally, it's important to remember that the entirety of the Adeptus Terra is designed for SURVIVAL, a legacy of the Horus Heresy. The obscurity and redundancy that we perceive as wasteful is actually a byproduct of the Imperium's obsession for security. In military terms, it means that the Imperium Guard can afford to lose wars because they can always draw troops from somewhere.
20:30 imperial planetary defense. for those who are interested in their defensive tactics instead of the offensive. (was using it as a resource for a faction in another sci-fi setting for a P&P game)
With Battlefleet Gothic Armada just being release, I would love to see a lore video about the starships of 40k. Even before the game I always found the starships to be the coolest thing in the universe. A 10KM long flying Norte Dame filled with righteous hatred and willing to project it at anything within a few AUs of it, that is just cool.
Hy Arch! I would appreciate some videos about Imperial Guard, which then present us specific events in greater detail! Alternatively, id would be relay nice to hear your opinion on what could truly crush the Empire, as they seem to be pretty op lore-wise. (or simply proof me wrong) U are doing a great job, keep it up!
4:40 this is true but taking a shot at a ship when its between you and the planet below is risky, if you miss you hit the planet and potentially whoever the enemy is hoping to bombard. some factions have actually made use of this to force the enemy to close in with them, rather than engage them at a safe distance, Orks for example.
Actually like how humans would look at cockroaches. Translated, Mon'keigh means "that which must be exterminated". And they just call Orks "Morks". Says something about Aeldari.
How about a nice series? =p Imperial Guard followed by Space Marines, and then followed by the forces of Chaos. :D It'd be a logical progression with one leading into the other. =p
Jesting aside, do you mean the more recent Tomb Kingy incarnation or the mass harvesters of old? I woukd think that tactics would be vastly different because of their differing mentalities.
I would like to see Orky Taktiks, but I have the suspicion I already know the finer points. Chaos, however, is only about one step away from Orks.... chaos vote+1
well if we're talking khorne followers their tactics mostly include being pissed 24/7 and literally destroying anyone that stands in their way and then destroying everyone else.
+exactinmidget92 they don't shoot themselves, oooooh, play a little battlefleet gothic armada and you just might get a new opinion :D avoiding nova spam is a skill!
The only valable strategy with the Imperial Guard is to dump flashlightcarrier on the ennemy until he drown in the corpse ! With awesome hat carrier to *BLAM* them. Ho and for the next video, I would love a video on my adorable and cute Tyrannids ! Awesome video btw ^^.
Hey man, just getting into 40k with battlefleet gothic. I just wanted to say thanks for videos like these, having literally no concept of any 40k lore asides from playing Dawn of War 1 and Space Marine (played those after bf: gothic). Thanks man, I can promise you'll at least expect 1 more view on the majority of your vids:]
Necrons and Tyranids...also some stuff on the warp would be great. I am new to WH40K lore so I am still trying to learn it so the books make more sense.
I love History! Thia is trie 1d4chan is a better wiki than the Lexicanium since they put it in a way you can understand and is actually interesting to read.
XD Warhammer way of thinking. we need DAH BIGGEST TORPEEDO WAAAGH. SW way of thinking, we need MOAR torpedo. Alright NOVAFLARE THE FUCK OFTHE ENENMY BRIDGE AND ENGINE ! (SW ship can carry a shit ton of torpedo since proton torpedo that use baridium in a thermo nuclear reaction, they do not need to be big to cause some harm, so bomber can carry 6-12 torpedo.
Can you imagine what would happen to the 41st Millennium if the Orks got a hold of Arch and 'persuaded' Arch to offer strategic and tactical advice to their WWAAAAGHS? Not only would the Imperium be fucked, but the Chaos Gods themselves would, in all likelihood, end up shitting themselves!!!
I am a good old fashion ork player my self and everyone knows how orks work. there just so much fun to hear about we dont care. and space marines are over whelming skill and firepower. so plz SKIP them despite demand Arch i would ask for one of three things the first being CHAOS becuse depending on whos the current CHAOS INVASION! leader/ chaos god follower the invasion can change. Second NECRONS. why? because they have the best fucking tech ever and it would be fucking cool to get in to the nuts and bolts of how there warfare works (also i know nuthing of Necron space ships beyond the fact there green) Lastly id say...and my orky part of me hates it the fucking pointy ear fucks the ELDAR i know thay love hit and run but that cant be it. i would love to know more. plz and thank you for reading
I would be interesting for you to tell about the Necrons ways of both defense and assault. In the fall of Orpheus a single Dynasty with a few lesser ones as vassals. Fully subjugated/annexed 100 imperial worlds in just 74 days. Which also included the homeworld of Adeptus Astartus "Angels Revenant" whom they simple instead of invading just destroyed their home planet crust by sheer planetary bombardment and letting the molten core of their own world to seal the chapters fate. Even fortress worlds of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Inquisition in the Orpheus sector fell in just 74 days. So far what I have read it takes months to successfully conquer a single planet. Raids can be done instantly but the Necrons really conquered the planets and killed off all the sentient lifeforms on them. Those can't considered be raids any more. As they leave behind Necron Structures that would allow them instantly Garrison a planet should someone want to invade throught the means of dimension gates. The 100 planets that fell in Orpheus are incomplete Necron control. The Imperial Armour Volume 12 "Fall of Orpheus." The Necron Codexs and the stories of the black Library "Dead Man Walking" and "the fall of Damnos" should give you enough info how Necrons conduct planetary assault and defense. And last the 1st Apocalypse book also has a very good description of a tomb world defend itself.
Arch I have enjoyed dozens of your coverings of the 40k, of which I knew nothing before hearing you. But I do not understand the use of ABC weapons in this universe, for several reasons: 1. FIrst as it seems almost no nuclear/radiological/nutron/ weapons are used and other ABC types are also seldon mentioned, but why? As I see it, with such tough, massive and ruthless opponents, the usage should have been a standart issue for all sides capable of technology of the 20th century and above. 2. Second, why the biological and chemical weapons are mainly limited to corozion gasses, I mean you could have a mobile posion/virus lab acompaning every ship and unit, an auto-lab which will create targeted poisnoss and viral agents, depending upon the type of enemies you encounter - these poisons and viruses could even be targeted to kill Xenos only and harmless for human(or other use) biology, such labs could even be created by the Tyranids, as creaturs which create such things. 3. All types of ABC weapons could have been used to delibertly poison whole planets to render them useless when needed, and this usage is also never mentioned.
How about a video on Battle Fleet Solar. What exactly is it? I have heard you mention it a few times but what exactly is it? Imperial Navy strike group? Outside the Imperial Navy? Video please and drag Drachs arse into the explanation mate!
