@@billyelliot4141 Here's a tip for the new when it comes to Games Workshop - They do many things they should not, and few things they should. You can almost guarantee that when they do something like this it backfires or gets implemented with the subtlety of a monarch issuing a declaration of war. In fact, they DO have a 'creator' system. It's a paygated walled garden of aggressive marketing called 'warhammer plus'. It's currently maintaining a stable of 3d animators(who used to do stuff on youtube for free until they were taken by the Combine) and painting tutorials with future promises to be good eventually, they promise. Having a more chill system where they simply mark out official content creators and work with the community is not how GW rolls. They need to change that or continue suffering PR problems. Forgive my bitterness, you play Iron Warriors just once and you get like this sometimes. Better than Lamenters' melancholy fits I guess. Imma go shell something into the ground to feel better now. It's not in the rules that I know of, but a couple of books mention that the beetles scurry around looking for 'food' briefly if they miss and survive the impact. They must use their legs to help propel themselves through soft tissue too. Gross.

Yeah the organ bit isnt true, but the weapons one is. The ranged weapons are creatures unto themselves just bonded to the host organism. But the hivemind usualy just makes all its organisms jump into the soup and later makes them anew.

I do wish the organ thing was true, it sounds appropriately grimdark for 40k.

Thats the trick with Tyranid, anything tends to work only once. By the second time you use it, they adapted a way around it. You got hivefleets that immune to Nurgles plagues.

Now I imagine how phenomenally effective sanctified holy fly paper would be against the death guard and nurgle demons..

I recall a White Dwarf magazine had a short involving a guardsman during the battle of Macragge, he waited for his lasgun range indicator to turn green, got maybe two shots at the oncoming Hormagaunts and then was instantly in the melee. Yes he survived because nearby Space Marines, but the supposed speed of a Tyranid swarm is honestly terrifying.

You dishonor the PDF who died fighting to give you time to arrive, the Guard are not deployed to fight lost causes, you're there to save the world and by The Emperor you will do it or you will die trying.

Well the real Darwin already had a few things to say about parasitoid wasps, which are basically fleshborers during the larval stage, and the implications they had for competing theories of biogenesis. in order to rank the Zerg compared to the Tyranids all you have to do is to see how a zerkling fights a Starcraft space marine and then imagine a starcraft space marine (also a blatant and shameless copy) fight a 40K Space marine. The Astartes would barely even register the starcraft space marine as a threat. (There is actually an Arch video concerning that. So much for the superior copy theorie). The Zerg would get waisted by the Tyranids. Then eaten, then absorbed, and after that it wouldn't matter any more.

This is why Tyranids players are so disheartened about their official rules. None of this horror ever shows up on the table top and its very sad.

There was some older lore that Tyrant Guard were part Space Marine due to their fused ribs and, as whispered, an imitation Black Carapace. But this was back when Nids were explicitly based on the different species they ate. They eat Eldar, and evolve brainy psychics. They eat Orks, and they evolve spore launchers. They eat humans, and they evolve fairly intelligent creatures who impregnate targets and then immediately flee to the shadows. They eat Tau, and their melee sucks for the next ten years. And so on.

Warcraft was the one intended to be a warhammer game. Starcraft was just heavy inspired by 40k.

All Arch did is highlight the parts that GW had already written. Some of the sources dwell on how these weapons work, others go "Nope" and gloss over it. Arch just let us all laugh at the former group.

You better make sure they use that thing all at once because it's unlikely that trick would work for very long but yeah if you manage that you could wipe out the large section of the swarm if you played your cards right

I'd argue having your soul scared to death by a Culexus would be the worst way to die, personally. Second worst way would be being the guest of honour at an Emperor's Children stag-party.
