Nice! Getting my 2014 GX delivered this weekend. Good to know about the leaning issue and spacer seems like a good idea. Look forward to your future gx updates
Bought a 2015 Lux CPO (52K miles) version of this masterpiece, partly thanks to your review and perspective. So thanks for that. Have been very happy over the winter and am about to take her on a trip to Death Valley and maybe the Sonoran Desert in May. I am very happy for you that your Lexus dealer took such good care of you on the lean issue. I have yet to "lean" on our local dealer in Portland, OR for anything and if I do, I hope it works out as well.
Bought a used 2017 GX460 premium from Sewell in Dallas earlier this year (drove all the way from Houston) and i'm happy to say everything you said about their level of customer services is 1000% true. Awesome after sales service. Looking forward to more GX videos.
Wow those spacers made a huge difference. I’ve always thought the stock GX was oddly narrow looking but pushing the wheels out just a touch makes it look perfect now.
Yes sepia. I believe that is the correct way to say it. Just got a 2013 with sepia inside of the pearl white. Essentially the same exact color combination. I’ve got a 2016 black on black one too. I don’t think I’ll buy anything else unless it’s a classic car .
Reid! I have been binging your videos the past week and I NEED and update video on you guys’ cars! 😅 I really enjoyed going through your old videos and seeing all the cars you guys have had over the years from the Tahoe alllllll the way up to this GX. Hope all is well with you and your family, stay safe!
I’m pretty sure this is the first comment I’ve actually replied to in probably 2-3 years. 😂 But I’m glad you’ve enjoyed watching my videos, I really appreciate it! I really do miss making them…ever since I’ve graduated from nursing school a few years ago & started working, life has been non-stop, but I do want to try to find the time to get back into making content! I actually had the GX up until mid-February of ‘21, and then ended up at Sewell in Dallas trading it in on a 2021 IS350 F-Sport with Dynamic Handling (the week after Texas’s Snowmageddon 💀). It’s Atomic Silver with Circuit Red interior, and I absolutely love it. It’s got just under 10k miles on it right now. By far my favorite car I’ve had out of all of them. Back in November of 19, I picked up a bright red little ‘99 Mazda Miata just to have something to play around with & have another manual transmission in the fleet, and still have it! I appreciate it man, I hope you and your family are well and safe too! Times are crazy nowadays. 😂
@@ReidG_RN oh wow that sounds awesome! I live in Arlington and I know the exact dealership you’re talking about lol! I definitely think the IS was a good choice since it’s something a little sportier and not so big! That said, I do you hope to see more updates some day, but being that you’re in the nursing field I can understand the struggle! Good luck and stay safe! 😷
@@ReidG_RN i almost bought your gx lol i found it at a dealership in kentucky, all the stickers, lil stratchs an dents were exactly the same as this video, with the sewell patch still on it lol had like 90k miles at that time.ended up buyin another one from same dealership with 50k miles and white interior. Love it.just thought it was super weird i used to video to decide to get one then saw yours lol
Enjoy your videos...thanks. I’ve been trying to decide between a 2015-2016 GX and 2013-14 LX for my personal vehicle and daily driver (city and local commute) and principal family vehicle (distance travel, off-road/camping...2 kids and Labrador). I go back and forth between the two vehicles both... seem really nice. Test drove both and although handle quite differently...like both. Appearance wise...kind of prefer the GX...but both very nice. Would you have any thoughts or advice? The lean issue is troubling...I too would find this bothersome and have heard others discuss this. In previous video you discussed trouble you had at prior dealership. How did they correct this? Thank you!
Thanks for the review ! It’s a beautiful truck. I have a Toyota, and looking for a 3rd row suv. I’m looking at this and the LX. It’s just super thirsty, and not enough gears in the transmission . But will go for 300k miles ! Maybe next some off-roading to use that Center locking diff ? Peacefrom510 .
Thank you! Much appreciated. They're thirsty trucks for sure, but the peace of mind that they'll literally run forever is hard to beat. I'd love to get some off-roading videos in the future! Hoping to take it up to Colorado within the next few months & do some mountain passes.
Awesome look! I hatenthe tucked in look. Do you still have the gx? Any long term reviews of the spacers? Vibrations after few yrs? Appreciate any feedback. Looking at a white 2017 gx460
Great video! I just switched my '16 ES 350 for a L/Cert '14 GX 460. I was very satisfied with my ES, but kept getting a new GX as a service loaner. LOL... I see what they did there. I love my Lexus Dealership & the Unlimited Mile Warranty!
Devon Peters any L/Certified vehicle has a 2 year unlimited mile warranty (except weather items, hoses, bulbs, etc). I bought mine from Lexus of Naperville in Illinois!
Nicolas Carone ahh, ok. I was thinking you were saying it was literally unlimited with no year limit (I know some have unlimited Powertrain warranties). 2 years is still nice - thanks!
Devon Peters previous over towed over capacity - had a slight shifting issue... brought it in and had coolant in the transmission. Lexus switches our radiator, trans cooler and transmission under warranty ($6800!). I spent about 3k more for an L/Cert. Totally worth it.
Nicolas Carone wow. I am literally talking with a BMW dealer about a used one right now. It’s a GREAT price, but it obviously has no warranty and is a 2013. I think I may just keep looking for a cert in light of what you shared.
Hey Reid! I don’t know if you remember me at all. We’ve talked a few times probably like 6 or so years ago and maybe another time or 2 during the time you were making RU-vid videos. Thought I’d say Waddup and see if you plan on making any videos again sometime in the future.
I agree on the comments on Lexus dealer experiences. I bought a used Toyota from Lexus of Orlando and I was treated like I was buying a $100,000 car. They literally rolled out a red carpet after detailing and you take delivery indoors.
None as of now. My plans are to hang on to this one for a good while & turn it into more of an off-road rig. The GXOR concept is a pretty good visual representation of what I'm going for long-term.
awesome truck! looking for a used one myself, probably 2014. Did you get around installing the lift kit and tires? I want to see the end result on this truck
It's not lifted yet, but I did put a set of 265/65 Cooper AT3 tires on it & they've been awesome. I've done some moderately aggressive wheeling with it & it's crazy what just a set of tires will do for a stock truck.
I know this is an older video, but we’re trying to get SpiderTrax spacers for our GX. When I called 4WheelParts, they said they can’t confirm fit on the Lexus. Could you tell me what size they need to be? I’d also like to do the 1.25” and I thought it was 6X5.5, but apparently there’s some other measurement?
Decided on trading my car in for one of these. Any issues and others that I should be aware of when buying one? Anything that needs to get fixed, replaced and ect.?
Love the vehicle and appreciate the videos on it but you might be the only person I know that went out of your way to get the dealership to put a dealer badge on your vehicle. That is the first thing I remove when I get a vehicle or if buying new I tell them not to put it on. Just a personal preference I know....
99.9% of the time, I'd be doing the same thing. But, Sewell just goes out of their way to make sure that their customers are cared for as best as possible. That's something I'm proud to reperesent.
North park lexus in San Antonio is superb as well...I think it’s a lexus thing. I love the spacers! I thought the GX comes with factory installed hitch?
ji wang we just bought a 19’ GX from there last month. Dealership was beautiful and everyone was fantastic. Went to play golf at La Cantera and left San Antonio in a new truck lol.
Some do have a hitch from the factory & some don't. I believe it was an a-la-carte option if memory serves me correct. All of them have the appropriate coolers, etc... for towing but the only difference is whether or not it has the hitch.
Thanks for the review. I’m probably 70% city (while we’re actually in office), 30% highway. What is your actual real world MPG? Trying to determine if this is actually worth it (I hope to overcome my “reasonable” side that says I don’t need to spend the extra money on gas) vs a crossover.
Well, I'm running oversized all-terrain tires now & I get about 11-12 in town lol. Stock, I'd do anywhere from about 14.5 - 16 in town depending on how heavy my foot was. Highway MPH running 75 I could do about 22-23, and once I upped it to 80-85 it'd drop to about 19. Even though the gas mileage is pretty awful, I 100% recommend a GX over a crossover. It's hard to beat feeling like you're driving a tank down the road.
Your videos on this vehicle make me regret buying my 2018 F-150. I’ve been eyeballing a CPO GX for about 6 months, and I have driven one that was near fully loaded with 26,000 miles in pearl white and tan interior fell in love, but they were screwing me on my trade in... and Then I got caught up in the idea I can buy a brand new F-150 for the same money, which is true, but only 300 miles on my 2018 5.0L its already ticking, knocking, rattling, whistling, you name it! And other 5.0’s don’t do that. Also that’s what I love about the GX. A lot of it’s been the same for years and years with small enhancements here and there. same engine and transmission for what seems like 50,000 years, and thats what makes it awesome! owners are happy, very few problems, virtually ZERO problems with engine and transmission (from what I researched). It works, DON’T CHANGE IT! FUCK why did I have to buy this truck? I should have went with the GX. My advice to everybody watching, it’s a fantastic SUV and they are bulletproof. Definitely go for one if you’re in bigger SUV market and don’t mind a tad more money at the pump as it takes premium only.
I'm sorry to hear about such a negative experience with the F-150! Not the first time I've heard of the new generation 5.0 having some issues, unfortunately. I'm sure Ford will be willing to work with you, but you'll definitely have to fight them. Speaking from experience on my 2013 Fusion Titanium. Best of luck to you!
I just love how roomie it is. I mean, something like that would be perfect for someone like me who is a gigging pianist/worship leader that has a full sized stage piano plus all of the gear. That stuff takes up a lot of room in a vehicle. LOL
Looking to pickup up and indentical GX 2017 .. same colors except it has Captain chairs. I noticed in the CPO service history it had the left spring coil replaced during the CPO process last month for a lean. Should I be concerned? I’m assuming the right side is stock. Vehicle has 41k miles. They want $40.9

@@ReidG_RN I'm trying to get one of this, but I wonder how I would get those low mileage for that year! I bet it costed more $$$ for that low mileage ...
@@seekfactsnotfiction9056 It's not too terribly hard to find these with low mileage! At least, not in my area. Seems like there's lots of lease returns with less than 40k miles on them. This one was actually the cheapest one I could find, and it just so happened to have such low miles.
I really need to film another video on it haha. I work 12-hour night shifts now & I just don't have near the time I used to. Since this video I've done a set of 265/65 all-terrain tires (OEM sixe is 265/60), a Magnaflow muffler aaaaand that's about it that I can think of haha.
Mine looks a little bit off depending on the light. It was likely either resprayed due to an incident, or it could be the plastic bumper cover taking to the paint differently than the metal body panels.
@foocat i found his at a dealership in kentucky. Was kindof weird, all the stickers and imperfections were exactly were he showed on the video lol was a nice car, had 90k miles on it thou, they had a newer one with 50k miles and white interior with no lean that i actually puchased for alil more. Couldnt be happier, yes its not the best on gas,but if u buyin a 50000 dollar car,u can afford the gas lol actually better mpg than my 2003 v8 ls430 becuase of the eco drive. All in all i love it very much.took it on a 5500k trip to the west coast an colorado and it was a absolutr beast, especially driving up pikes peak and all the mountians in colorado and the hills of san Francisco

What kind of job is this called when you make car tours do you get paid Todo this because I'm gonna be a school bus driver and need something Todo in the middle of the day for more money.
So how much did Sewell pay you to advertise for them? lol jk That being said, do they make mud guards for the GX? If so, I would recommend them for the front tires.
None whatsoever haha. I just appreciate good, honest people & don't mind spreading the word when they treat me well! And I'm sure there's an aftermarket solution for mud guards but no OEM parts to my knowledge.
@@ReidG_RN I totally understand....i just bought a gx460, and you know just as well, not very many people have done lifts or any sort. I'm looking for ideas
I like the red Mustang in the video much better than the Lexus. You need to buy another mustang dude. Also watching the video I saw where your tires are cupping. That is the tread wear you displayed. It could be due to misalignment of the wheels or a suspension problem. The suspension lean in your vehicle and the cupping leads me to believe that your car has been damaged prior to your purchase. If this is the case then any tire you put on the front will cup which severely reduces tread life. I would hate to think that the prior owner sold the vehicle because of possible suspension damage. You should take your car to a good alignment shop and have it evaluated.
In time I'll hopefully be able to add another Mustang back into the fleet, but for now, the GX is just fine. You are correct in that the tires are cupping, and it is definitely due to the car having a bad alignment. Was that way when I purchased it, unfortunately. It's been aligned since, and the issue stopped. As far as the lean, it's very common. Look at any GX on the road & you'll notice it.
