James.T .Adams *Failbadon*: What's the next world on our list? *Fabulous Bill*: Catachan, milord. *Failbadon*: Fuck that shit! I'd rather say Horus was right!! Let's leave before they know we're here... *Sly Marbo hides behind them, waiting*
Trying to invade Catachan must be the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. You know that there are quicker ways to commit suicide right? You dont have to go all the way there and let himself be butchered by some nasty tree.
LocalHeretic 1127 I can just imagine the embarrassment inherit in being raped and in murdered by a bloody tree. KHORNE: *SO HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DIE MY SON?* Random chaos marine:”I...I was-“ KHORNE: *WELL!?!* Random chaos marine:”I was sodomized...by a tree” KHORNE: *...GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY CITADEL*
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" - Famous Speech by Sly Marbo
How long is it going to be, do you think, before Sly Marbo ceases to be a physical man and 'ascends' into a state similar to a Living Saint or Damned Legionnaire?
These are my IG contingent to my 1st Legion chapter companies! I love these guys! Colonel Iron Hand Straken is THE MAN!!! We don't do last stands, we don't need heavy tanks, we are the things that you fear in the darkness. The reason for the heavy bolter is that they are some of the few humans that can lift and operate them.
Interesting to hear they changed Griess' character from the book Straken. I quite liked the idea of a Catachan who was so badass he made it into old age but was still respected hugely by his troops.
"Sly Marbo" *Shows picture of Iron-Hand Straken* Granted, Straken is a badass but an actual picture of Sly would've helped newcomers in knowing what he looked like.
Daniel Gudi yes!!! Catachans are actually based off Australian veteran squads ( yes they do exist apparently ) and also Inspired by a certain army from a certain era in a certain war fought in a particular East Asian country.
So me building my Guard army, I'm thinking Catachan. Thinking Yarrick as my Warlord, Straken, and Sly with Harker and Nork as Elites. Sounds like fun in a sick way
Yarrick is more associated with Armageddon than Catachan (he might even have their keyword, though I don't know that) but it does sound fun! Admittedly, he's a Commissar so legend or no don't expect Straken and co to play by his rules all that much..
Joke is that Marbo, Straken, and Harker put up with him because his legend proceeds him and Nork isn't exactly the most clever lad. The rest of the company find the dynamic entirely too funny to kill off Yarrick. And poor Yarrick has his Baleful Eye on watch just in case. Thus was accidentally born the Catachan 13th Regiment, commonly called The Catachan Basterds. But as for rules, Yarrick has Ordo Prefectus, which because of how Keywords work, he can be attached to any regiment, sorta like Cipher. Same goes for our friend Nork. However, Harker, Marbo, and Straken have Catachan. So while Nork and Yarrick don't get the Catachan +1 Strength, they can play along. As much as the lore would argue otherwise...
Cool! Catachan Fighters are among my favorites, though I wonder what it'll be like if there'll be a Space Marine chapter in this world? Isn't it possible Space Marines could recruit from these or would think they make fine Imperial Guards under their guidance? As always, awesome work. I wonder what more can you do? Maybe there can be a few more renowned chapters to cover or you could tell stories of famous battles and crusades as well as history (like the Unification Wars and events during the Great Crusade and onwards for example).
Shinku Kirito Ichika they're too small to be marines. In the original fluff catachan is under heavy gravity and the people who love there grow strong very on average shorter than most humans like the Chinese of our imperium
Catachan is so hardcore their bodies would be weakened by becoming spees marinez. On a more serious note, I always get the impression space marines, have to pretty much subjugate a planet, and then indoctrinate it, to get their best candidates from said world. I don't think three chapters let alone one could pull that off on Catachan.
About 8 months ago, I had no idea what 40k was. Hell, i still dont. But your channel Tactica Imperalis, along with 40k theories and lutei0n or something like that and a couple more i cant rememner have been awesome. Thanks for the vids guys. As a noob to 40k, i would love to see a more complete history video about 40k. I think im a catachan jungle fighter lol
Remleiz is the one to see for a complete history, thanks to his '40k lore for Newcomers' series, which includes a shorthand version of the entire timeline! My content usually provides deeper dives in to groups or individuals, so you'll find a good mix between us and Luetin's work.
I like to think I'm more an observer, commentator and storyteller as much as anything else, plus I have far less lore knowledge than others, but thank you!
The people of Catachan, and the planet as a whole reminds me of "Apocalypse Now" especially the "Go get the Roach!!" scene. As tough as this Hell-hole may be, I think my fellow children of Nurgle, the Death Guard could make the flora and fauna afraid. Fear, illness and pain are unknown to the Guard. I am sure a Chaos Spawn of Nurgle would love to have a play-date with a Catachan Devil, give it sloppy kisses of true affection. Anything on this jungle ball would be very unwary to even come within 10 feet of a Death Guard.....contagions and such.
Catachans using heavy bolters makes sense to deal with heavier targets while still being mobile and they would need to know how to use weapons for use off world away from a jungle. Heavy bolters would even make sense if they were only used on catachan to balance the flamer and they would have loads of heavy bolters to guard the fortifications located in the areas they vlear flat
Good IG series, TI. Have you considered doing videos on specific Dark Eldar Kabals or Eldar Craftworlds next? Provided you had enough information about each one that you want to cover, that is.
Straken is a solid, viscous, pious, subject of the God Emperor. Great series again! This is why Catachans ARE like Aussies, only with y chromosomes, guns, and purpose that hasn't yet evaporated. I pray to God that Australia returns to their admirable manhood that they have always had until recently. We need more Aussie marksmen in the world fighting the enemies of civilization. The Empire and Commonwealth are needed today, not hand wringing sycophants.
I guess demons and chaos marines aren’t all that scary when your entire home planet kills 3/4 of your childhood friends by the time you’re in your late teens.
Deadliest world in the galaxy at large? Naturally, sure. But I'm pretty sure the 'deadliest world' in the galaxy right now is probably that hellhole of the Ork-Tyranid meatgrinder called Octarius. Not even Khorne's Blood Crusade could make a dent on that world, let alone distract those two factions for trying to maul/eat each other to death.
I don't think someone thought the mortality rate numbers out very well. Every women would need to have 8 children just to replace herself and her mate,12 kids just to see positive population growth.
FirstName LastName sure the troopers are based on Vietnam era US Troops look wise ( they’re clearly more effective than the US army of the era though, as you know they do win wars ) but the wildlife on Catachan is based on Australian wildlife .
Micheal i read on lexicanum that in the novel "Old Earth" Vulkan had made a dead mans switch to destroy Terra by the Emperor and that he was by the eternity gate during the siege is this true and if so what happened to the switch
The most Hardcore Bad Ass Mother Fucking Normal humans, even to that extent in 40K, that being said they tend to be more focused than normal humans in 40K, if anything they are loyal to the Imperium even at the very end, now while some regiment have a die-hard mentality to them to fight to the last man, charging against countless ods, the Catachan Jungle Fighters are far more cunning than that, the only reason a Catachan Jungle Fighter will ever retreat is to regroup with his pack, for they are the apha predators of there homeworld, us humans are social animals and the Catachan Jungle Fighters show this the best, they watch each other back never wavering, no matter what, yet they far from simply disciplined if anything they are what the Custodes are to the Space Marines, You won't find any of them going AWOL, or other forms of "less moral actions" in fact if anything if one step out of line he has to pay the Blood Price either to the one he insulted or from his superior when that happens knives come out. When a Catachan Jungle Fighter sees a Tyranid he gets homesick, When a Catachan Jungle Fighter sees a flesh boiling acid pools he thinks "Hot Tub" & "Jacuzzi
