trying a bit of a different video format here. i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i did making it! keep those ender 3 related questions coming and i'll see you guys in that next video!
Hey, great video! I'm sorry to ask, but one issue I'm facing is that these links do not work for me, probably because of the different country, so the Amazon links opens up only to show me the main page of Amazon. Any chance that you could add actual item names, so that I can search for them myself, or check if the links can be somehow amended to work for other countries as well? I'm really interested in the "super quick tripod", but clicking the link gives me nothing, googling the link give me nothing as well and searching "super quick tripod" just gives me a bunch of different items that I cannot confirm if they're the one due to your modifications. Thank you in advance!
With your black/white aesthetics addiction (I will steal your style some day!) you should name your rig Walter...because you know... Walter White :v ... and cooks you videos :V
Love how you customized the color of your Ryobi power tools. I’ve been wanting to make mine all matte black for years now. I would absolutely love to see a detailed video about how to do that!
I'm amazed by the dedication to the black & white theme, it must have taken quite a bit of time and effort to achieve that level of consistency. But the end result is definitely worth it, everything looks so zen and well-organized.
Wow marsgizmo is here to comment..i hope he gets also the attention he deserve like what you have..you and him have something in common..and that is quality content!!!🥰
Just about to ask the same question before ending up here. Turning on my notification just so I wouldn’t miss the “how to paint my tools white” video. Make it happen, Please!
You may want to consider replacing the blank mag-strip cards with blank NFC cards so that you can program them to start tasks on your phone or send timestamped data to your home network or a server.
I love customizing everything, but I have to admit I also love procrastination. :D Videos like this always give me that needed boost to go do something.
Talk about why everything is white. I'm curious to know if it's because you don't want to be distracted by things that are functional and want to hilight things like natural leather, green plants, or exposed wood. Could it also be just your way of standing out? Having everything match in your way is a way that you and your brain works and what you call home and you can work, sleep, edit etc, in the environment that is customized for you. I'd love to hear more about your thinking.
for the soldering iron, i love the PINECIL - it's a super minimal, slim soldering iron that runs off usb-c. I usually plug it into a macbook charger because i know that way it has all the power it could need, but it can also run off lower-power usb-c chargers or any power banks that work for laptops or fast-charging.
For a soldering iron I recommend the TS-100 digital soldering iron. Small, portable and work great. I bought them for our school robotics program where I'm a mentor. Also recommended by Adam Savage so that's quite an endorsement.
Bro, that time lapse with the timer consistency was amazing. Your videos look effortlessly created but the quality you have proves how much time and attention you put in as well as just the color grading and amount of simple editing tricks. Incredible job.
Pinecel soldering iron from pine64 basically cannot be beat for price and functionality. It's a "smart" soldering iron and can be used kinda wirelessly with a powerful enough powerbank. It changed how I see soldering and made it enjoyable now. Similar to how you feel about the screwdrivers
This. Heard good things about the pinecel. Though it is annoying and expensive to get here in europe. Also the TS80 would be comparable. I have a TS100 which I need an adapter for. But if he is acctually using the ugreen power brick. TS80 already uses USB-C. The TS100 needs an adapter. If you are soldering bigger things than pads on pcbs or wires you might want a bigger soldering station. Yihua is a brand that is cheap and decent. Well loved by hobbyists before the ts100 and ts80 tookover. Weller is nice but a little more pricey.
Digging the format, especially with a mix of face-to-face shots and b-roll. You always make every cut and shot count in editing, cleanest production on youtube Scott!
I would actually love to see more on the drawer below your desk! Looks like every little section is custom made exactly for what you wanted it to hold. Also congrats on 200k! Your channel has grown crazy fast, I remember when you only had a couple dozen thousand 😳
I’ve been assembling my Ender 3 Pro with mostly all your upgrades. I’d like to see a 2023 edition where you list out every upgrade you’ve kept. It would make it easy on someone like me, who wants to copy your upgrades without having to jump around to see which upgrades didn’t work out or were replaced later on.
You bring a welcomed fresh breeze into the 3d printing youtube space. Thank you for that. As for soldering irons, i can recommend the TS-100. Best soldering iron i had (currently my 4th). Also a little tip i can give is buying soldering grease. Comes in little tin cups. Most solder allready has flux in them, but this helps regardless. Pre-tining cables and stuff becomes a breeze.
More importantly, what exact spray paint product do you use for your differing materials, and do you prime and prep? Rustoleum high heat white? Krylon Fusion?
So excited that you're making more content!! For the soldering iron, I'm a big fan of the Miniware TS100 and the new Miniware TS101, With a proper power adapter they can heat up in an instant, and tips cool down pretty quick for easy swapping during a project. The TS100 has a bigger community since the TS101 is newer, but the TS101 has been a joy to use lately.
Such an inspiration 🤍 Been waiting for a video like this one since the beginning! So much knowledge and perfection in one video.; Keep up the amazing content! I just started making content and your one of my go to youtuber for ideas and story telling or just overall style for everything, but all black for me! 🖤🥷 Thank you again Scott! Can't wait for whats next. Ps: Cookies! Pss: That drawer thoo
Seems like you enjoy cordless tools in general so you might wanna give a cordless soldering iron a try. Heard good stuff about the Adafruit TS8P cordless soldering iron, really cool little usb-c powered iron. Wouldn't recommend a cordless soldering iron for beefier project though
I see people recommending the Pinecil for a soldering iron quite a bit, but wanted to suggest also looking into the Miniware TS100. It is an amazing little tool that has made soldering much less annoying.
Name it Dum-E (arm robot from Iron Man film). And I just want to say that your videos are amazing! Love your editing and everything! Wanna be such a master as u in future!
A good soldering iron is the TS-100. It’s an open source design, can be used with common laptop chargers, cheap, and takes hakko integrated ceramic heater replacement tips, so the only wear items are replaceable. Extremely fast to heat up. I do think there’s a more recent design with a different name that uses shorter tips but I forget what it’s called.
Pinecil is a good alternative that I often see recommended, personally have the TS-100 and I'm really happy with it so seconding that recommendation for sure!
Highly recomend the TS100 soldering iron alot of other people mentioned Also I made a custom cord for it so I can use it with my Omnicharger. That way I have a portable soldering station that doesn't need an outlet which makes soldering a lot easier. If you haven't yet you should also look at the Omnicharger, definitely the best portable charger out there.
I love everything about these videos, the production quality, the chill vibe, and the reviews help me find new tools to work with. I can't believe you aren't bigger than you are right now, keep it up
5:20 Hi Scott, I love your videos and the way you edit your videos!!! I will definitely watch it again. Btw, may I know where did you get ur Monitor mount? Thank you
What I want to say is three things: First one - you’re videos are amazing, thanks for tons of job that you’ve done with your family. I can’t even imagine how hard it is and how it is interesting at the same time. Second one - thanks to your videos I’ve started to search for buying of my first Ender)) seems like I can get it in a few months and I’m ready for full customization. Thank you so much for this opportunity to have an awesome hobby. And at least third one but I think it should be first - your moms level of cuteness and level of care is mind blowing)) Thank you for your job. Keep going and keep doing well 🤟
I recently discovered and binged all your videos. I hope one day you’ll make a video about how you custom painted your tools. Nonetheless I love the content! subscribed
Editing and PV is sick as always. And what an awesome transition at the start ❤ Shoutout to your mother organizing the gingerbread cookies - speaks to the attention to details in all your videos. Huge fan!
I feel like there is a certain level of organization, personal and physical, where it stops being smart and enters the territory of obsessive or just removes the soul of your living space. And you're walking right right on the far side of that line. Like, at least have SOME color or a little bit of chaos. A fucking plant, even. The space seems so dead and devoid of stimulation.
Scott, this video is amazing and inspiring. I do tons of soldering building guitar pedals and amps and I don’t futz around with the wireless ones. If you are serious about soldering you need a soldering station and I absolutely love the Solomon SL-30, it’s not sexy but very consistent and accurate. Love that you are building such a huge audience with this channel
Hey Haig! You don’t have to tell me you do tons of soldering haha i’ve seen you in action! back in the electronics lab AND iv’e seen your guitar amps haha Thanks for the recommendation! I think the SL-30 looks pretty good actually, i dig the all white look :) and thank you so much man, i really appreciate the kind words and I’m so glad you enjoyed this video!
this has been posted multiple times but here it goes again: along with the ask of -> how are you painting your power tools white, can you also tell how you're coloring / skinning your camera and other smaller tools (screw drivers, cameras, etc.)?
Dude! I have a similiar camera rig setup and didn't know how to solve the problem of being able to have the camera more mobile. 🙌🏼 So thanks for sharing your setup; parts ordered!
Just to add to the theme have you considered painting your monitor bezel? I rock a white/plant/wood themed setup too and this is definitely up your alley. Disassembly for mmy ultrawide was pretty easy and painting is straightforward.
I don't understand. Where does the plastic come from. I see you pull it off like it's sticky but where is it being made? I really don't understand how these printers work at all. Amazing video but is it melting? The plastic is the plastic on the board. I don't get it
Honestly seeing how fast this channel grew just goes to show how Quality over Quantity is key to retaining and gaining an audience. Keep up the great content brotha!
New subscriber here :) I don't normally comment on videos, but I wanted to let you know that your work is amazing. I'm really looking forward to your (more frequent) future videos.
Per your request on tool brands: Weller or Hakko are top of the line soldering irons. Milwaukee, Dewalt , Makita are top of the line power tools Snapon, Bahco, Mac, Knipex, Channellock, Bluepoint, Williams are top of the line hand tools Craftsman, Kobalt, Ridgid, Delta, Husky, crescent (many others) make good tools depending on what they are. Typically all tools that are name brand (not amazon's random brands, they are bought reviews) will do good for almost everyone unless your relying on them in a commercial setting. I have some Pittsburgh Harbor Freight wrenches that I us typically 3+ times a week for the past 8 years or so and still working great.
Wow, your style of working is really remarkable! I loved your Ender 3 Pro-Videos, how they look, how on point the content is, how carefully the backround music interferes with the pictures.
Waaay too much hand gestures. Why would you do that? It's so annoying! Other than that, great video, great style, and great quality! Subscribed, liked! :)
Just found your channel and I am about to subscribe. Not sure if you named your rig yet but I just thought of “Sticky Fingers” because it’s shaped like big sticks and it’s an extra set of fingers.
هذا المقطع بمثابة كنز بالنسبة لي .. تعمدت الكتابة بالعربية لانها تعبر حقاً عما بداخلي ... شكرا من أعماق قلبي This video is a treasure for me .. I deliberately writing in Arabic because it really expresses what is inside me ... Thank you with all my heart
Really well made video, totally fell in love with your style. Yes I'm sure many would love more such videos from you, some of these things were really amazing! And so nice of you to link everything. There's one thing I saw, this drawer liner at 6:21 that seemed really nice. Can we get a link to that as well?
As you've already got a few Ryobi tools, you might want to look into their Soldering iron. I don't know how good it is, but the fact that you've already in the ecosystem it might fit quite well into your workflow.
TS80P soldering iron is very good, usb-c power delivery, 3.5mm jack for quick release tips, integrated tip cartridge design open source (very good with ralim firmware/ironOS) and heats up really quickly
You could name your rig Jack, in recognition of Unbox Therapy who did their big reveal of Jack, the camera guy Lew was always talking to just off camera. I think they revealed him at 10 million subs. A lot of people thought he wasn't actually a person and was some sort of rig or something.
when it comes to soldering irons anything from hakko that isn't isn't the pen style is great, also another tool you might like is the omnifixo, unlike bendable 3rd hand products it doesn't have any backlash which is really nice
Commenting to say that I didn't know who you were until this morning when I came across someone on TikTok who stitched your drawer organization video. I came to RU-vid so fast! After this video I think you just made it to the top of my favorite content creators of all time list! I've also been convinced that I need to upgrade my power brick. So the sponsorship is working!
