In this video, i teardown a BW 4409 T-case out of a 99 Mercedes ML430. The complaint is a jumping chain, but found alot more than that. When dealing with transfer cases, make sure the fluid is checked on a regular basis and watch your tire size

This was the first transfer case teardown I've seen, it was informative - Thanks. If it turns out to be rebuildable, a follow-up video would be nice

nice vid! do you know part #'s for the front seal of the transfer case and and the rear seal of the transmission, where they mate? all i can find is transfer front and rear seal output shafts seals .

What is the year,make ,model and engine size.

That 4x4 rear seal is a special seal, I think a bit pricey too, I ordered it through my supplier once and the seal that was in there was just a regular seal but there is a 4x4 seal. Is the seal out by chance?

@@GaryFerraro no I don't have it out yet I'm waiting the buy the seals first... but the transfers case is identical to the one you're working on in the video

I welded my center diff after it exploded so I want the W164 lockable transfer case. How can I find out if that fits?

Not sure, what is the W164 out of?

W164 is the second gen ML after 2005 and the center diff can be locked on versions with low range

What did you did with your w163 transfer case? did you change it for the 164? with the center diff locker? i want to mix parts with a ford same model transfer
