My daughter, who is away at college, called this morning to tell me you had a new video out. She and her roommates were headed to the grocery store and they make a LOT of your meals. As they are students on a budget, they were excited to see this today!
Wow! That is just awesome! Thank you so very much for sharing that with me. I sure do appreciate that. When my husband was still in college I did so many recipes like these because we really didn’t have any other choice🤷♀️ thank you so very much for sharing that !😀
@@JuliaPacheco I love your content, I live in Utah as well so when I discovered your channel I knew it would be getting a great deal for cooking and new recipes with a budget in mind. I have to take care of myself and my mother on 250$ of food stamps and with your help, it makes living much better with your advice. I do request a video of what to buy in a month and what not for a solid month. Again thanks again for your videos they are helping more than you could possibly imagine.
I’m so glad I found you. I’m living by myself and was tired of paying so much for microwave foods and fast food. You’re videos helped me getting into cooking for myself. I’m saving so much money and actually found a hobby because of these videos. Thank you so much for being awesome!!!
Wow! That is just awesome! I am so very glad that I could help you learn to cook better. That really does make me feel good. What a nice compliment! Glad to hear you have a new hobby too🙌🏼🙌🏼
Cooking for oneself in order to save money is a great goal, but so is cooking to get away from the processed stuff. I have expanded my comfort zone in a huge way because of the latter goal, and I am loving it, even with very little counter space. 😁
I'm in the same boat. I'm single and now getting into home cooking. I'm also a vegetarian so the meatless meals are great. All I do is half most of the recipes since it's only me. Recipes are simple to understand and to make. I
Thank you so very much Kendra! That sure does mean a lot to me. I am so happy that I can help you so much! Thank you so very much for watching and for your kind words😉💜
I am in my 50s and still have a few kids at home and I have to say I truly appreciate your videos. The step by step and the variety of ideas you bring each week. From crockpot meals, to premade meal prep breakfast ideas and all the in-between. Thank you so much for sharing like you do! ❤ much appreciated! God bless you and your young family 🙏
Thank you so very much Christie! That really does mean the world to me. That is just such a wonderful compliment. I sure do appreciate the positive feedback it really helps😉💜
As a cooker and lover of grits I recommend adding the salt to the boiling water before adding the grits. It's hard to get grits salted correctly if you add it after cooking. Glad to see you using them!
Thank you so very much, Melissa! I sure do appreciate that tip for sure. I know so many of my viewers love grits, so I really do appreciate this comment. It helps me🙌🏼
I love all of the visual details you add in - the little plaques with inspiring sayings on them, the sweet cactus, the unique pots and pans and cutting boards, everything! Such a great reminder that a little bit of extra attention to one's environment makes a difference, and it's the care that counts, not the money spent!
Well thank you so very much! I really do appreciate that positive feedback. I love all those little plaques for sure! Thanks so very much again for being one of my supporters. I sure do appreciate that!🙌🏼
I think frozen spinach is the best deal going! It takes a lot of fresh spinach cooked down or steamed, to create a bag. Fresh is wonderful for salads etc, but if you’re cooking with it, it’s a deal to get the frozen! Love your videos! So glad i found you!
Lots of veggies? I only see a green pepper and potato (that's only technically a veggie as it has about as much nutrition as pasta). Onion is more of a seasoning (although probably more nutritious than the potato). Tomato sauce is not a veggie either, not any more than ketchup or sweet relish are.
Food prices are out of control. I hope everyone has been able to stock up the best you can. Blessings to you Julia and your family and too everyone here.
@@nicoleymacaroni I live in a hotel currently as I'm homeless and would live in an apartment if I didn't. Glad you can grow food for yourself. Not everyone can nor is it sustainable.
@@nicoleymacaroni it is not free, the seeds, dirt, fertilizer, water, gardening tools, gardening beds and omg the TIME and WORK is a lot. It is great but not a substitute
Same and I don't like to cook or know how very much. These videos are great. Prices are so crazy and my senior citizen mom lives with me. Now I know how to fill her belly cheap and healthy.
You made this southerner very happy!! That's a poor man's breakfast! It does big families wonders! I remember my grandma making it whenever the house got full, it unlocked so many memories, thank you🥺
These are such awesome money saving meals. On my menu this week will be the pot pie, lentil soup, and grits casserole. Watching your video has really taught this Grand mom some new tricks. Thanks, and be blessed
I Love how happy and excited you were to share all these recipes. Your attitude was very infectious. You were also very knowledgeable about the ingredients and their hardiness. Lots of appreciation for this video, you could tell you put a lot of effort into it including the editing.
Well thank you so very much! I really do appreciate your positive feedback and thank you so very much for your wonderful compliment too! I really do appreciate that so much. Have a great rest of your weekend and thank you so very much for your support🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so very much! That is a very nice compliment. It sure is hard during those years for sure! I’m so glad that this video could help. Thanks so much for watching!😀
Another tip: some grocery stores (like Wegman’s) sell frozen mushrooms for cheap! If you don’t think you’ll use an entire carton of mushrooms fast enough because you’re only cooking for 1, frozen is the way to go. Taste just as good as fresh mushrooms. I add them (and frozen bell peppers) to ramen, chow mein, pizza, pasta, etc
here in Belgium we also have prices going up. I have picky eaters, meaby trying some of these recipes. I strech soup by adding more water and spices and replacing half of the ground meat in recipes for lentils. i'm looking forward to see the baby! ❤😊
@@JuliaPacheco yes, it’s all over the world, this economical crisis. In Spain where my family lives too, and in Sweden where my best friend lives. These are sad times. Thank you for helping people.
I just made scrambled eggs with water. They come out more fluffy & tender then with milk. I love grits & always have a box. Yummy simple recipes. Thanks Julia
You’re so very welcome! And yes! That water makes them extra fluffy. Milk makes them taste a little creamier. Thanks so much for watching and thanks so very much for being one of my supporters😉
Thank you!❤ I was searching high and low for your crockpot mac and cheese and couldn't find it, looked up a few others..needless to say, it turned out not the best.😢
Thank you so very much! Yes, you are so right. Now more than ever we need to be budget conscious and figure out ways to watch our spending at the grocery store😉💜
Oh no! I am so very sorry. I’m not sure why it didn’t turn out very well🤷♀️ I sure hope you have had success with some of my other recipes though. Thank you so very much for watching and have a wonderful rest of your week😀
Julia, you are a shopping GENIUS!!! Thank you so much for helping us THRIVE in these difficult times! GREAT examples of being creative while saving money AND still able to eat well! WELL DONE, LADY!!! WELL DONE!!! :)
Thank you for being so creative and getting so many veggies in the budget. Love these ideas. Prices are outrageous right now, but these recipes look delicious. I have been wanting to learn some lentil recipes!
Great idea for the grits & egg casserole. I'll be making it Easter morning for the singers & tech crew at my church. They have a sunrise service & then two more services later in the morning so they will be hungry in between services. Thanks.
I REALLY want to try that chicken pot pie if I could just get my finicky, vegetable shy husband on board. 😭 I don't eat enough to make it just for me but it looks so good. Edit: Julia I wanted to let you know that I made this tonight. (I halfed the recipe because I was using a half a pack of chicken I had in the freezer.) It was amazing and picky husband approved! He asked for seconds. Thank you!!
I just made the soup recipe and oh my goodness!!!! Actually my new favorite soup and it’s so cheap and easy too! I added 1/2 box of pasta shells as well. Loved it!
I love your budget videos!! I always learn something new. Just because you're being thrifty doesn't mean you're skimping on flavor. These videos are so helpful.
Mushrooms are a meaty substitute in texture but they are not high in protein. In that whole package there’s about 6g. That is less than 1 egg’s worth protein, divided among however many servings.
Thank you so much Alana! And I am so glad that it’s so affordable right now or at least less expensive. Thank you so very much for your comment! Have a wonderful rest of your week😀
Gotta say all of your dishware is so PRETTY. This video is a literal godsend. I'm not super experienced with cooking since I grew up with mostly take out and fast food, so finding recipes that fit my very small skillet is difficult sometimes. I'm so excited to try some of these
I sure do hope that these recipes can help you! I was not a good cook at all! You can do it! Thank you so very much for your positive comment and I sure hope you have a wonderful rest of your week🙌🏼
I’m so thankful I found your channel. I’m on a really tight budget and with your videos I feel I can do this! I followed a video for this past week that was meals for the week for $10 and it was great. Oatmeal, breakfast tacos, pinto beans, fried rice, etc.
Wow! Congratulations to you on your very first apartment. I get that! I had absolutely nothing when I moved into my very first apartment. I learned how to cook and be very very frugal. Thank you so much for watching and I sure hope you can use some of these recipes😀😀
Thank you very much for the money saving tips on groceries, and for the delicious recipes. Your recipes are always easy, which I LOVE. And they’re always very affordable, especially these in particular. Have a great week, Julia! ☀️
Great recipes Julia. I'm so excited for you, your time is so close now. You look great and I hope you are getting some rest while you can and that your freezer is full. Stay well and safe. ❤
We love Lentils and have made a soup similar to this and it is so good. And for the vegetable pasta I have done that also and added zucchini and summer squash to it and definitely can’t do without the mushrooms perfect. Enjoyed this video very much.
Those are all great suggestions for that pasta recipe. Thank you so much for that. And now that we are getting closer to summer, those vegetables are going to be a lot less expensive and super easy to get! Thank you so much for sharing that🙌🏼
That looks delicious! I love one-pot breakfasts. I do eggs, grits, and usually salmon or tuna just about every morning. Lots of proteins knock out the mid-day cravings and keep you full longer. And it's cheap.😉
It is hard cooking for one now and I appreciate your wonderful recipes. ❤️ your entire video including the scriptures! I'll never get tired of those. You're a wonderful inspiration to me! Thanks, Julie.
Great meal ideas! Sometimes you just need something quick and easy. I think I'm going to challenge myself to budget down my grocery trips! Thanks for the inspo :)
Let me just say, the chicken pot pie was sooo good!! I doubled the recipe for my family, my sisters family and my parents for Sunday dinner today and everyone loved it and went back for seconds! We paired it with rice and a salad! So good and didn’t even cost a lot to feed 9 people!! Thank you so much!!❤
That is just awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know that. I sure do appreciate the positive feedback🙌🏼🙌🏼 so very happy that the recipe worked for you and your family was able to enjoy it💜💜
Love this video! You are such a sweetheart and I enjoy watching you very much. A favorite of mine and my husbands is your taco crunch wrap! I feel this type of video is very helpful for anyone especially with increases in food prices. Please make more videos like this to help people with shopping and meal ideas. God Bless!
Thank you so very much Lorraine for that positive comment about that crunch wrap. It is definitely so good, isn’t it? And I sure do appreciate your positive feedback about this video. Thanks so very much for watching and for being a loyal supporter of mine🙌🏼
Well thank you so very much, Jacqi😉🙌🏼 I sure do appreciate that positive feedback! I am so happy to hear that these videos make it seem easier! You’ve got this! Thank you so much for watching and I sure do appreciate your loyal support💜💜
I found and subscribed to your channel a year ago because of one of your extreme grocery budget videos when my husband had lost his job and we had a little baby. So glad I did! I’ve tried many of your recipes since then🤍 but my husbands absolute favorite is the casserole that has the Doritos on top 😂
Oh, thank you so very much Jacqueline. I sure do appreciate that positive feedback. I am so very glad that I could help you in that situation I sure hope things are going better now🙏😀 thanks so very much for being one of my loyal subscribers I sure appreciate it!
Thank you Julia for these delicious budget friendly recipes. Wow you made 20 dollars seem like a fortune. Can’t wait to try these comforting meals. Making my shopping 🛒 list today lol thank you sweetie 🥰😇 be well
Great video! So many new ideas. I love adding a few of these “extreme budget” recipes into our weekly meal plans to keep our grocery bill low. Blessings ❤️
All these meals look great! I'm definitely doing the chicken pot pie . . . you can't make it any easier! Thanks for everything Julia . . . you're a big help!👍😋💛
I usually don't cook, But lately I've been trying to do more things and open up a little more towards the kitchen. These videos help me a lot, since, although they are simple, they teach me to combine flavors and understand, No expensive ingredients are needed to make something delicious and also fast.
That’s awesome! I am so very glad that you were feeling more comfortable in the kitchen. Thank you so very much for watching and have a wonderful rest of your week😀
Tip for the lentil soup! If you have it in your pantry, drizzle a little olive oil (or oil of choice) on top before digging in. Not only is it delicious, but a bit of healthy fat helps the body absorb the nutrients in veggies. All the other ingredients in the soup are very low in fat, so a little boost is helpful both for flavor and nutrition. :) I have some chili oil in my pantry that was very tasty on top, too!
I love this kind of cooking! Easy, flavorful and you can do multiple recipes with those types of ingredients. I found a couple you did that are new to me and I'd like to try!
Thanks, Julia. I wish there was a way to have these without unprocessed food or even healthier versions that might be low carb, whole carb, sugar free, low sugar, etc.
hello Julia 💖 you are so amazing.you're so right about the higher prices,it can be stressful when you're on a budget.i truly appreciate all of your lower budget meals, all healthy and delicious 👍 you help to make shopping so much less stressed going in with these wonderful recipes ❤️ thank you so much for sharing your recipes ❤️ hv a wonderful day family 💐 good wishes and God's blessings to you all 😇💖😇💚💛💛💛😊
Thanks so very much Melissa! I sure do appreciate that positive comment for sure!! It’s a lot when people see the work that goes into these videos. Thanks so much for your support!🙌🏼
Fantastic video!! I’m constantly trying to teach my adult daughters how to cook on a budget and now I can show them this video as evidence ☺️ They don’t believe mom, so the verification is necessary. Thank you so much for posting these amazing recipes 🙌
Omg! My husband and I are both military so it’s been difficult to find quick and healthy meals that aren’t super expensive or time consuming! Love these and will be using these recipes!! Thank you! And you know how to season girl yesss!!!
Hi Julia !!! Yessss grocery prices has went up. My local Walmart shelves are pretty much empty. Thank you so much for sharing another great video with us !!
Shelves are empty in a big part due to covid backing up shipments of things to the stores tbh. My store got a shipment in of Christmas stuff last month (March) off the truck that went straight to clearance lol
I did the math on this list for today's groceries at Walmart and it is about $30 still attainable just letting others know. ❤ These videos are very helpful for someone like me who is on a fixed budget of $180 a month. Thank you so much for making them. God bless you ❤
I do appreciate you doing that comparison, Paula. Yes, prices have gone up so much and are they vary from area to area as well. Thank you so much and I really am happy to hear that these videos help you so much. You have a wonderful rest of your day and thank you so very much for your positive comment💜💜
These are well thought out and interesting recipes for those of us trying to hold to a budget line. I especially like the use of lentils which are often overlooked.
Hi ☺️ Julia thank you for sharing this Walmart budget and delicious recipes 😋 . I enjoy watching your channel, . Julia and everyone be safe and have a blessed 🙏 week.
You did it again..delish meals at a low cost! Thank You Julia and I would say at the looks of things, your sweet baby girl will be on time!🥰Much love and prayers 🙏👩🦳💖
The key to budget friendly meals is simple ingredients. Shop the sales and get creative!! I fed a family for years on a very little budget. I have never had grits so maybe something I will be trying. Thanks Julia, I have loved your videos since you had about 20 thousand subs and wow look at you now!
Thank you so very much for your loyal support, Nicole! It sure does mean a lot to me to have my original subscribers and supporters still here with me. And I’m so very glad that you were able to create budget friendly meals for your family all those years! Way to go🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you, Julia! My parents are from WV & TN. I was raised with so much southern food but I've never had grits. They look so good. Going to try Hunt's 3 Cheese too. My son is a vegetarian so these meals are great. Have a blessed week! xoxo
Hi Julia! Thank you for the great recipes! My local market didn’t have any grits or ground sausage, so I substituted the grits for some quinoa I had already and I bought Braunschweiger because I thought it was ground sausage lol! Anyways, it still worked out and tastes great! Since I didn’t have a binding agent like grits, I scrambled my eggs 90% done and used them to hold everything together. I also made the chicken pot pie, but my market didn’t have any biscuits, so I used a can of croissants and unrolled them, then spread it over the filling! I love your channel so(x100) much! Congrats to you and your family on your newest addition! Many well wishes! ❤️❤️❤️
This is SO creative. I'm astounded at the chicken pot pie, I'll be trying that soon! SO AFFORDABLE! Also I love your kitchen and all your equipment, it's so cozy
Oh, Victoria, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I am so happy to hear that my channel helps you in someway. Thank you so much for your positive feedback and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend! Thank you so very much for watching and for your kind comment😉💜💜
Luckily I am in a position where I don't need to budget my food like this but I still greatly enjoy and appreciate these videos. You are an incredibly cool and creative person, thank you for sharing your hard work with the world.
That’s awesome! I have a lot of subscribers who love grits. So glad that you have a lot of these ingredients on hand already. I sure appreciate you watching and have a wonderful rest of your week!😀
Ha ha! Thank you so very much. My pots and pans are on my Amazon store. If you scroll down in my description box you will find the link to that there. Thanks so much for watching!😀
Well that is just awesome, Cortnee. Thank you so very much for sharing that with me. It does mean a lot to me, things are just so expensive right now and I am so glad that my channel can help in some small way. Thank you so much for watching and have a wonderful rest of your weekend🙌🏼🙌🏼
A few changes I would make is forgo the can chicken, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste and cream of chicken and buy a roast chicken to shred and an additional can on the hunts sauce. That way you can make your own chicken broth and cream of chicken soup for the pot pie and you get the added spices from the hunts sauce for your pasta dish. And if you have any left over chicken and pasta, some soup with the broth. Wonderful ideas and a great use of your budget. I'm definitely going to try that Grits and eggs casserole.
Thank you for sharing this video! I live in a different country so some ingredients are a little difficult to find but I made the lentil soup from your video and my family loved it! Super easy, quick to make, delicious, and it's 4 year old approved! Lol 😂😁💜
Hi Julia! Just ❤️ love your channel!! It has been a tough year for me this year with 4 surgeries in 5 months and 1 more to go,..my food budget is barely existing (plus cost of everything going way up),..so I am SO COMPLETELY THANKFUL to have found your channel and I am amazed at all of your ideas. You have a ton of awesome ideas. Does your brain ever get tired, lol?? Thank you so much for your channel. 😁 I made a breakfast BOWL like this for one. It was excellent. Gotta love ❤️ GRITS!
Thank you so very much for your positive comment about my channel, Kelly! I really do appreciate that. I am so very sorry to hear that you’ve had so many surgeries and one more to go this year. I am hoping that things will get better for you and I really do appreciate you watching! I sure hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you so very much for your loyal support😉💜💜
