Here is another teardown inspection video of a transmission. 45RFE Transmission of a Dodge Truck. Her we go into detail on the basic parts and function of this transmission.
That was a great narrative as you completed the tear down. That’s what I have in my 2006 Wheelchair Accessible Megacab, there is NO WAY i would attempt to do that!!! You’ve got Mad Skills Amigo. 👍👍👍
i know nothing about cars, I'm watching this because my cat googled "45rfe" when walking across my keyboard and this came up. you are very knowledgable and i respect your work thank you for taking the time to post such quality content.
Can definitely tell this isn't your first rodeo. I'm getting ready to replace the valve body with solenoid pack and both filters, in the next two weeks, in my 2004 Dakota. Reason is due to intermittent delayed and hard shifting, both up and down. I found it a quart low and added SeaFoam to clean and condition it. That has helped, but at 100k miles, I don't mind spending under $400 to replace them myself, with my 18 year old grandson. Good project. Since researching this, I've learned a lot about the 545rfe transmission, but knew nothing about the gear and pump side. You made it look so simple to tear down. I don't think I would go that far myself, but if I did, it would be from watching you work. Not many people have the knowledge and ability to do what your doing and on top of that to do a video and teach others is amazing. I'll look for more of your work in the future.
Such a great job, you do sir. Thank you for empowering DIYers, and saving the little guy money. I will be saving me over $1200 on a transmission rebuild, because of these vids I was able to determine this is something I can definitely do.
Hey Hiram, we just took down my spare 45RFE for 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, used your great video to both take apart, and rebuild. We finished the drive train yesterday, will do the VB and pump as soon as we get a few parts, thanks so much, man. Great video !
Mr. Hiram...Thank you for the Awesome instructional tear down. I need to rebuild my transmission in my 06 Ram 1500. Your video will make a great reference tool. Thank you for the knowledge, you are Awesome!!
hey eric I was thinking the same thing this guy is an artist with a transmission he makes it a buetiful journey into the gears that make us go and he observes them and has it rebuilt before you can blink
Mr. Hirtam Giutrerrez, SIR. YOU still have an AUDIENCE LEARNING FROM YOU, after 7 years, SIR. My friend has a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport 4 by 4 with this same transmission. With the knowledge you instilled in me from your VIDEO CLASSROOM, and my own mechanical inclinations taught to me by my father, I just recently replaced the shift solenoid in his transmission and now the first gear clutch plates are slipping due to his off-road Adventures LOL. With your GENEROUS HELPING OF KNOWLEDGE 🥰, I have no doubt in my mind that I will be able to replace these wear parts by following your tear down and parts inspection procedure. It is with great pleasure that I commend you for your sharing of your knowledge. 😇 GOD BLESS YOU 😇 MUCHOS GRACIOUS SENOR
I wished I would have seen this video before I sent my transmission out for a rebuild I do have a little experience but for some odd reason I was a little intimidated but to my surprise it’s really nothing to this other then paying close attention and checking for the unusual thing that don’t look right thumbs up for you 🤙your the MAN!!!!!!!
When I saw your videos when you teardown the volks 09G! I don´t hesitate in following you. Yo got the touch! I have seen others videos and simply you´re great! I will be waiting the moment when you were rebuild the old 4T60-E. Regards from Mexico City!!
I might need to start paying u for lessons. Your vid helped me with the 4l80e i had done. Here i am having to do a rebuild on a 2012 ram 1500 3.7 and look at here
Nice job and very usefull information. Im planning a 545rfe rebuild soon. I know i can take it apart and put it back together..its when somthing is wrong other than worn parts that i dont know how to deal with. Did a c4 years ago, super easy.....didnt work. Trans shop said it was a bad vave body
This was great and I really learned a lot. Can you do another video assembling the 545 RFE with the rebuild kit. I presume you have a dyno to check all the pressures and shifting. See that too would be very good. Thank You.
If I replaced valve body with new solenoid pack on a 545RFE, do I have to reprogram the TCM? What about if I replaced the whole transmission? Your response is very much appreciated.
will the 45RFE work in place of a 46RE? 1998 Dodge ram 1500 .9 .. it has the 46RE in it and we got a 45RFE out of a 200 Dodge Durango. ... need to rebuild the 46RE with parts from the 45RFE will the parts interchange?
Great Video! I think I have to rebuild mine 5-45rfe soon, when I come to a stop it feels like the trans is not engaging and wants to stall the motor just for a sec then it unlocks and then its ok, it used to do it when it was cold but now I notice its doing it more, plus sometimes when you put it in gear (D) when its cold it feels like its slipping and then it will throw a code but ussaly you restart it and its ok if you feel it slip just a little..
Hey Hiram, I just finished my 545RFE rebuild and thanks to you and your vids it went really well. Now that I have everything back together I'm having a problem. The engine doesn't want to start because it thinks the trans is in 1st gear. This is in an '06 Ram 1500 2WD with the 4.7L engine. The PRND12 indicator on the dash is LCD digital readout. I have made sure that the shift cable is not broken and the selector arm on the trans is all the way back in the Park position. Can you tell me what you think might be wrong and what I should be doing to trouble shoot further? I have tried clearing the ECU with my scan tool and manually and it has not made a difference. HELP! Thanks again for your time and the great vids here.
I have a question. In the morning I start up and my jeep and go to back out and it revs high. I gotta sit a few seconds before it will move. Same transmission as you did here. A local tech told me my pump is draining overnight and that I need a new filter to keep it in the pump. Is this sound accurate?
question for you my 45rfe has lost reverse would a rear band adjustment fix that or would i have to rebuild? thank you for any help on this. i know engines not transmissions.
Awesome video and explanation. I have an 06 Dodge Ram with the 4.7 ....trans just started giving me trouble. What should a rebuild cost me or even a rebuilt trans be? Thanks for your input
Wow, man you have an incredible ability in tearing apart that transmission. I couldn't keep up with the speed you were going. I likewise have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 545RFE transmission - and I wonder if you could give me an educated guess. When in overdrive, I occasionally hear something under tension all of a sudden let go. I at first thought it was something swinging and banging against the bottom of the truck. It's random, happens once in a while, under acceleration, then while coasting - and I am pretty sure it's transmission related because when I take the truck out of OD, the noise is gone.
I really appreciate your expertise and quality videos, I have a 02 dodge Dakota 4.7 with 45rfe, that is in failsafe mode, work good if you manual shift it, can you please give me some tips on what to do
Unbelievable, all that knowledge, I feel like an ape, is not fair, I wish I could do all these things, of course these guys aren’t born with it, l could watch this video 1000 times, thanks
hello Hiram, I am hoping you can give me some tips on this problem Ive got on a 2007 Ram 1500 automatic transmission. It keeps cutting off while going down the road. It also shift hard when changing from parking to any position reverse drive or any other. I am seeing a P0750 according to autozone. it says something about a solenoid circuit. with 247k miles, do you think its a solenoid in there or maybe the gears are worn out. is it possible for the transmission to have the computer cut the engine off? any tips on where to go from here. thx
Hello sir, I know this is an old video and all. But I’ve been having transmission problems with my 03 Dakota R/T, and was wondering if this is the same one but I heard you said it was out of a ram 1500. Are they the same ?
I have a 45RE in a '02 Jeep that makes a howling noise only in overdrive. If I switch the OD 'off', the noise stops. Also, if I shift into low 1 or 2, the noise stops. Any ideas on what's wrong? Shifts fine and overdrive works OK.
Hello sir I have a question about a 545rfe. It has recently dumped all the fluid out of the front through the dust cover area I do know that there is a seal there but it was brand new before it was put in to the truck was just wondering if there was anything else I should look for that would cause the fluid to dump out of the front
Hello Hiram...watching you work is amazing. it makes me both want to cry because of how complicated it is but to laugh at how easy you make it seem. ...and I am wondering how long does it take to learn to rebuild automatic transmissions and what would be the best school in your opinion? Thanks a lot for all your videos man!
Hello good Morning! I need help! I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo I missed a 50 "error and the scanner says possible malfunctioning box malfunction due to lack of fluids, or internal error. Before this the box worked perfectly when I replaced the crown starter place the engine carefully and enter the changes but how much has to go to the 4th gear jumps or deactivates and does not enter! :(
Question I have a 04 dakota 4×4 I just had the transmission rebuilt But 3rd gear has kit when you drive I was told to drive it and it will go away is that true??
I got a bmw530i client and it happen something like you say about lockup solenoide around 55 to 65 mph it pull a little you tink can be a lockup solenoid o definitely the transmission?
Hi i have the 545rfe in my 2004 jeep grand cherokee and my concern with my transmission is that when i'm cruising between 30-50mph and i hit the gas hard I get a strong shuddering that it takes a couple of seconds to actually go into gear. If i keep the overdrive turned off I don't experience this shuddering at all and the response to shift is almost instantaneous. Thank You
is this same trans in my 2002 dodge Durango slt 4.7 4x4 mine after driving awhile it acts like your in low gear and when coming to a stop takes forever to pull out had transmission control module, ctm control module replaced but still happens any thoughts
