#46 How To [Not] Fail College |  

Take advantage of professor office hours, especially if you have questions or you just want someone to read your paper before you turn it in for the real grade. A good professor will give you pointers and tips on how to fix any problems you might be having so you can achieve that A. You're professors can be some of the most helpful people and truly do want you to succeed. They are important connections to have through out your college experience and beyond.

I attended junior college for seven years to get approximately 8 credits. Yeah... so college apparently wasn't my thing. Thank the Lord Jesus I discovered radio shortly after getting saved - I'm still in Christian radio now 26 years later and doing voice overs from my home studio (for Jamie Grace nonetheless!). SO glad God gave me a direction in life!

I went to OU and got my degree in Early Childhood Education (woohoo Jamie!) Be prepared to read, read, read! And I don't mean books you enjoy. Textbooks: expensive books that you have to read all of the time! Also, articles, so many articles! I always read these at the beginning of the week, so I could get my homework done on time.Also, if your college is anything like mine, there will be lots of group projects! AAA! I missed my solo assignments from high school. All that said, I really did enjoy college! My schedule was pretty flexible, I met a few really nice girls that I befriended, and I was able to learn more about teaching children, which is my passion! Oh yeah, one more thing: going to a university isn't always necessary. I started out at a community college and then I went to a branch college of OU. I was able to live in my hometown and not have ANY college debt! Woohoo. Praise God!

I am a non-traditional adult student. Making time for college activities has been a challenge. Living off campus makes it difficult to participate when my classes are over. I plan to join my adult/commuter program so I can make a personal connection with the college experience. I do feel disconnected, but that is about to change. TFS.

Just received my Masters degree and moved to another state for that second degree, it is a culture shock for the first few weeks but the classmates that are in the same program as you will be there for you as you will for them. Maybe not as a freshman but as a sophomore, try to enjoy as much of college life as possible because those 4 years(or 5 for my bachelors) will fly by, and as a college sports fan, visit as many sporting events as possible.

I've been out of HS for 2 yrs and I'm starting my freshman year of college in two months... I'm kinda scared, but I'm thankful for people like you who make me feel like I can do this and have fun!

I'm a Junior, but I got to experience like sort of a week of college when I attended the Kansas Future Teacher Academy at ESU. I totally agree with your bathroom advice. My roommate forgot her towel and shampoo and thankfully I was in the bathroom when she figured that out ha ha. also: NEVER forget to bring stuff back to your room. (to say the least Val and I had interesting bathroom experiences).

I'm going to college in August and this video was very hepful!!

I will be going to college in the fall. My advice for underclassmen preparing for college is to start your college search early! Senior year is crazy busy even if you plan your schedule to not be. You will save yourself a lot of late and stressful nights by getting applications in near the beginning of your senior year rather than waiting till the deadlines.

I should also add that I was home schooled too, so going to school with lots of people is pretty intimidating.

Here's my thing: I love learning and there is so much that I want to learn. When I was looking up majors and minors, I had 22 things I was interested in. (and that was the cut down version.) I hate the fact that you need a piece of paper nowadays to get a job and that that piece of paper costs 100k...

You are cute and hilarious, Jamie xD Some advice I would give (about to be a sophomore en college!) is to enjoy learning. This is the time to pursue your passion, and discover more about it. Study things you care about, even if all you are doing is core curriculum :D

Our advice is to PLEASE READ YOUR CHAPTERS! They will help you better understand the lectures and pass your exams. SERIOUSLY! Not all of the textbooks are as boring as they seem. Sincerely,Two college grads :)P.S. Enjoy your college days while you can!

I am going to start in August on the 24th and am kiiiinda nervous cause I havent been to an actual school in like 5 years (independent studies) sooo im just reassuring myself and know it will be great hahah. I'm a junior in homeschool and I'm starting dual enrollment at my local community college this year :)

I'm going to college this fall, but I will still be living with my mom and stepdad because they live close to the college. Everyone gives tips about dorms. I can't find any that has nothing to do with dorms.

Oh Lord. I had a taste for some chocolate so I ate a hershey bar, a snicker bar, and chips all at once. Not eating healthy. I did good for a week. So maybe I am treating myself. Tomorrow if God's willing, I will eat better tomorrow.
